I'm a professional photographer and recently took a business trip to Europe. Shooting digital, in both RAW and Jpeg formats, I didn't want to purchase numerous expensive CF cards. So I visited a local Best Buy store (Newport News, VA - Jefferson Ave. store) to seek out a solution. The associates I worked with (both Best Buy and Samsung team members) were phenomenal. I spent over 90 minutes in the store that day while they cooperatively worked through obstacles. It was time well spent and I left the store both impressed and very satisfied. Part of the solution was to come up with a processor that could handle images from a Nikon D700 in both RAW and Jpeg formats. The Samsung - Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 16GB tablet was the solution. After being patiently taught what to do, I was able to shoot with my Nikon, download to the tablet, and finally download images from the tablet to an external hard drive. This worked beautifully. There was one batch of images taken towards the end of the trip that I didn't need to download right away so they were still on the tablet. There were a couple of people that wanted to see some of my photographs right away. I was able to pull out my tablet set it up and place it in slide show mode. The compliments came non-stop. The size of the screen and quality of the images was key. Comments were, "everything is so colorful" and "everything is so vibrant and clear." With this presentation, I learned that moving forward, this is a great way to display my work on the go. I know there is much more I can do with this tablet but for now, I am completely satisfied. P.S. Almost forgot to mention the size. I was able to place it in my camera bag, along with the external hard drive due to the compact size. No problems clearing security and everything was always secure.

I was in the market for a tablet with a fast processor, great screen, tons of storage and a reasonable price. This tablet met all of these goals. The fact that it was on sale was AWESOME! The great thing is that you can add expanded memory. You can not do that with other tablets. The 8.4 inch size is great. Not small like the 7.0 inch and still small enough to fit in a purse or brief case as opposed to larger tablets. It works great for me and plenty of apps in the Play Store and from other vendors.

This is the best ever tablet from Samsung. It has brilliant display, great camera quality, super sound. Even though it is 8.4 inches screen, it look rather tall than wide. If it was little bit wide enough than tall, it would be so perfect for reading books. It has a great video quality. Microphone is excellent, capture even remote sound. Sound quality is best. When you are talking on skype, person can hear you so much clearly. This is very best tablet.

I questioned whether this tablet would be big enough to be able to read articles on the Web without having to move the screen around and constantly enlarge. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone and I avoid surfing the Web because of this. Manipulating the screen to see all content on a page is minimal with the 8.4" tablet. l am also able to hold the Tablet with one hand leaving the other hand free to type and surf. It's a great size for all around use.

Best Android tablet I've owned so far

I purchased my Tab Pro on sale for $200 and have to say this is one sweet deal. This is my second Android tablet and it truly blows away my Nexus 7 2012. For the price, I can't really think of a better Android tablet with these specs available right now. I was originally going to buy the Tab S 8.4 but for that price, the Tab Pro just can't be beat right now. The 2560x1600 screen resolution itself makes it a better choice than the Tab 4 series and was one of the main reasons I chose this particular tablet. I used some of the money I saved to buy 2 64 gb microsd cards, a Zagg screen protector, and Poetic case. I'm running Cyanogenmod 11 nightlies instead of the Touchwiz UI because of personal preference and runs better than any Android device I've previously owned which include the N7 2012, HTC One X Plus, LG Optimus G Pro, Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, and LG G2. There's no stutter that I've noticed yet, probably because I'm not running Touchwiz. Overall this tablet is rock solid and I recommend it to anyone in the market for a cheap tablet. The specs aren't bleeding edge anymore but it still definitely gets the job done without breaking the bank.

Bottom line: a great price for great performance hampered by a slow interface. With a bit of effort (maybe 4 hours total), can be turned into a fast, smooth tablet customized to your own taste. The details: The bad first: I would have given this 5 stars except for two things: 1. Samsung's TouchWiz interface 2. The physical Home and capacitive back/running buttons. The good: 1. The size is "just right": more readable than a 7", easier to hold than a 10". 2. The price: at $249 is was a very good deal, it's now lower until they run out. 3. Solid build. Bright, clear screen. 4. Screamingly fast once you get rid of TouchWiz and the bloatware (more on that below). I don't notice *any* lag (admittedly, I use it as a reader/video viewer/web surfer, not a game machine). 5. Decent battery life: I don't think I've run it to below 50%. Seems to run about 10%/hour of web surfing with the screen at abut 25% brightness -- which is actually pretty bright and which would imply about 8 hours of effective lifetime). 6. Has an SD card slot Getting rid of the bloat. 1. Root the tablet (yes, this will void your warranty). Instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2661198 2. Install a custom recovery (I'm partial to TWRP): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2679825 3. Back up you original installation with TWRP 4. Flash a debloated ROM. I'm running this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-pro-12-10-8/development/rom-rooted-deodex-t320xar1ang1-08-02-14-t2836052 5. Install Nova launcher (from the Play Store) and adjust the settings to your liking (you can make the interface look very much like Lollipop if you want) 6. Install Xposed framework: http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer 7. From within the Xposed installer you can browse and install a wide range of modules to let you tweak the system to your heart's content. I'm runing the following: - App Settings. Lets me set things like dpi, permissions, orientation, etc. on a per-app basis - AppOpsXposed: re-instates the AppOpps setting that Google deleted from Android 4.3+ - Burnt Toast: shows app icon in Toast notifications (not vital, but looks cool and can be useful when you see an oddball notification and want to know which app generated it). - Gravity Box(KK): lots of tweaks. I use it mainly to replace the battery icon in the status bar with the % charge - KitKat SD Card full Access: Allows write to SD card - Phab 7: Select phone / phablet / tablet UI - SwipeBack: let's you go back by swiping the screen -XSSSID Indicator: shows what WiFi network you're connected to in the status bar

I am very impressed with this tablet, the 2.3GHz quad-core CPU is powerful enough run multiple apps side-by-side. Want to watch YouTube while searching for deals online? Done, no problem. The 1600 x 2560 display is amazing, text is uber sharp and images are very clear. The camera is good in well-lit areas, but I would feel pretty weird taking photos with a device this large. One thing that did bother me was the location of the stereo speakers, they're great while watching videos in portrait but in landscape both are on one side. I HATE the TouchWiz launcher, there are too many things I don't like about it. I would recommend using another launcher, like Apex. Apex was the first launcher I've downloaded and the only launcher I use with my Android devices. I bought this tablet because I wanted to replace my old tablet from 2012. This tablet was from one of the major computer brands, and my 400 dollars got me a slow tablet running Windows RT (yuck), but the battery got me through two days of medium to heavy use. I paid 300 for this Tab Pro 8.4 and it was well worth it!

I have owned a few android tablets in the past and currently use a Windows Surface Pro 2 on a daily basis for work. I was looking for an economical android device with longer battery life. At 8.4 in this tablet is perfect to use on a plane or just to sit back on the sofa. It just fits perfect in your hands. The new android version is a much more refined software. Some other features I am enjoying include: processor speed, vibrant colors, resolution, top quality hardware and samsung's refined interface. The WATCH ON app is amazing, I was able to set it up with my TV and cable box is less than a minute! . This thing works great with my Samsung 65 Curved 4k TV. I included a few shots. This tablet is a steal for the price.

I chose this tablet over the the tab S 8.4, based mostly on price. I couldn't be happier with my decision. Though side-by-side the S's screen is obviously better, in practice the screen on the Pro is more than usable. I haven't run into any lag issues, and love the ability to have multiple users. Bottom line is I would definitely recommend this tablet if you are looking for something in this size range. It performs almost as good as the S, and at a much more reasonable price.

The tablet has been on sale for different prices since i purchased it currently $229. I broke my Nexus 7 2012 and compared with this and the Galaxy S 8.4 at $399 and the Nexus 9 at $399. This one has a 8.4" 2500x1600 screen, quad core, dual stereo speakers at the bottom, 2gb ram, 16 flash and microSD slot, 8mb camera on back and 2mb on front i believe, bluetooth 4..0, lots of software and a $25. Google Play credit. It is running KitKat, but I've read it will get the upgrade eventually to Lollipop. Compared to the Galaxy S 8.4 most of the specs are the same except the proc there is a multispeed octacore (not sure how that compares in real life) and 3gb ram, rest specs seemed same that i could find... Compared to the Nexus 9 it's 8.9" so it's 1/2" bigger but it's only 2000x1600, dual core (they say it's faster, again not sure in real life), 2gb, no sd card slots, front facing speakers, 4:3 aspect ratio (like an old TV vs wide screen) like an iPad... and it runs lollipop I basically paid the same price as my origional nexus 7 2012 and it blows it away... When comparing the 3 with the price of the tabpro it's a no brainer, i found stock locally and had to ask because it wasn't on display. the sales price went lower the following week and they pricematched it..

I was debating to get between the iPad mini with retina display or this Galaxy tab pro 8.4. Past Galaxy tablets have been very slow and laggy but with the snapdragon they use now this tablet is completely different than the previous tablets. I picked this tablet because it has so many great features with the multi view, the amazing display which colors pop out of the screen and also my favorite feature remote pc which allows me to control my computer from anywhere in the world with a full desktop experience on my tablet. Best tablet as of now by far with its perfect size.

I am working as a freelancer, and I bought this Tablet PC so I can do my work on the go. I have it probably around 3 months now, but I was familiar with it a year before because I bought one for my wife. The overall quality is great. It feels, it looks and it is really quality Tablet. It is fast, even if you have many applications opened in the background, it never happened to freeze, or slow down. The screen quality is amazing. I love the size of 8.4 inches. It is not small and I can do most of my work on the go, and it is not too big so I can carry it around anywhere. I am using Bluetooth Folding Keyboard, so more or less it feels like working on lap top. The camera is also good, although I am not using it very often, I am mostly using the front camera for chat and it have clear and quality picture. The battery life is surprisingly good. Comparing to my cell phone HTC ONE M7, the battery life of this tablet is way better, not even fair to compare them. Over all very satisfied with the quality, the look (I must mention "the look" because it looks way better than the new S Tablet from Samsung) and the price for it.

My wife uses this. She likes the size so it's easy to keep in her purse. Great for movies or reading on the go. We have Samsung Note 4 phones, so syncing up all our devices is easy and awesome with Samsung. This tablet has a great display and performs as well as our phones. All samsung tablets seem to be good. Just get the screen size and resolution that suits your needs and you'll be fine! Having a slot for micro sd cards is something I'll always appreciate too.

This tablet is everything it's cracked up to be and more. The display is incredible, the performance is stellar, and function is excellent. As reported by others the one weak point is the battery, for all this performance takes some serious juice. yet the battery life is not terrible, I can watch about 6 hrs worth of video at full brightness or work steady for 5-6 hrs. Less than other tablets but not horrible.

PROS: + Sweet display, with outstanding resolution and a gorgeous picture + Memory card for expansion + Seemed to be plenty fast enough for the tasks/chores I used it for CONS: - Google does not (or did not) push out 5.1 - Battery life not the best in class - Capacitive, soft touch buttons very sensitive and always seemed to take me where I was not wanting to go because of fat thumbs OVERALL: A very nice tablet which is priced far less than the iPad2 or 3 and delivers outstanding performance and quality. Sure wish the Android tables had better battery life.
