    Blew Away My Expectations

This hair remover is so worth the money. I usually have to shave every other day to keep myself sane. My armpits I shaved every day. To put it in perspective, I get 5 o’clock shadow 12 hrs after shaving my legs, bikini line, etc. Hair removal creams like Nair only worked on soft fine hairs. Didn’t do squat for my thicker leg hair and bikini line. This thing, however, has totally kicked butt with keeping hair growth to a minimum or stopped it all together. I realize this is not a permanent solution, but it’s good enough for freeing up more time in my life. Also, be aware that you cannot use this on tattoos. If you look at my photo, you can see all my hair that’s growing on and around the tattoo, and that’s why. To the left of my tattoo, you can see it’s mostly bald. Which is awesome since I haven’t shaved in 5 days! There’s not even stubble aside from the couple spots I clearly keep missing lol. Also, I’ve been using it for about a month now.

I am one of the 5% to 10% of women in the U.S. who have hirsutism. Finding a practical way to remove the excess hair on a permanent basis is a chore. Shaving irritates my skin, electrolysis sounds quite painful, and professional laser hair removal is expensive and takes a lot of time. I have tried an epilator (ouch!), the NoNo! hair removal system (really just flashing lights), and creams like Nair (the smell! Didn’t work, either). I’ve resorted to plucking, which is a chore, but at least gives me a day or two of clear skin. I was excited to have the chance to try the Smooth Skin Pure IPL Hair Removal System (HRS). At home laser? Sign me up! My last experience with laser was a 3-visit package that was purchased as a gift for me. It didn’t do much for me, though, as the employee told me that it would take a total of 6-9 visits for me to see any results. At the time, it was around $300 for 3 visits, and I didn’t have those kinds of funds. Having at home option for a fraction of the cost? Sounded too good to be true. At the time of this writing, I have used the HRS over the course of 8 weeks (one treatment per week). I’m a good candidate for the HRS – I’m so pale I make vampires look tan. The lighter your skin and the darker the hair is, the better the results. One thing I will recommend is buying some eye protection. You’ll want to find goggles that are specifically for laser light. I remembered this from when I had treatment before. The cost is about the same as basic sunglasses from that one place that says it has stuff from A to Z. You don’t have to, but I did take that extra step. The instructions don’t tell you much. There’s no prep work other than to shave the area you are treating so that the follicle can be treated by the light directly. My first treatment, I did shave the area with a regular multi-blade razor, which caused me to suffer from painful bumps for the next week. For the remainder of the treatments, I used a Norelco razor. It doesn’t cut the hair as close, but I wasn’t miserable either. The HRS has a standard and a gentle setting. I started out with the standard setting but after the first two hits, my skin felt stingy, so I used the gentle setting going forward. The one thing I despised was the transformer block on the cord. There’s not an on/off switch, so it powers up as soon as it is plugged in. The transformer is quite heavy (heavier than the unit) and was in my way as I tried to use it at my small dressing area. It tried to slide off the table as I struggle with the excess cord. Not a fan of this design. The treatments don’t take long to do. I think it takes me between 5-10 minutes to do my face and throat. Other than the actual hit of light, I experienced no pain or discomfort. I’ve included a before-and-after collage of the results. I will need several more treatments, but I think it’s a start. I would give this a try if you suffer from hirsutism like I do or have other hair removal concerns. You’ll need a large area to work so that the transformer box can sit and not slide off the worksurface.

I never leave reviews. Ever. But I haven't found an unsponsored review for this unit anywhere. IG posts have ZERO comments, Amazon reviews receive free products. So here's my honest review having just received the unit yesterday and using it 1x. My skin is nowhere nearly as dark as the darkest safest skin tone in their manual. The unit isn't allowing me to use the device in areas like underarms and knees. Some history- I've had over a dozen in office laser hair removal treatments with the ND yaglaser had amazing results that lasted for years. I noticed some re growth on my legs recently and hope to use this device on these areas to keep me hairless again for years to come. Week 1 - you definitely need to wear some sort of protective eye gear while using this device. Will follow up at 4-5 weeks

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we look forward to hearing how you get on over the next few weeks.

SmoothSkin Pure comes with a built-in skin contact sensor that will only flash when full contact with the skin is made to prevent accidental flashes. This may make treating more curved areas such as the knees and underarms a little harder. Please try to move the device around a little to see if this helps. For further help and advice please do not hesitate to reach out to us via live chat on our website or e-mail: support-us@smoothskin.com

We understand some users may find the light bright, although we’d like to reassure you that eye protection isn’t required with SmoothSkin devices. Our devices are tested to the latest eye safety standards (60601-2-83 & 60335-2-113). This prevents exposure to potentially damaging light intensities without the need for wearing eye protection.

This product is a life-changer and I don't use that term lightly. I received it about 6 weeks ago and have been following the directions to use it on the areas for hair removal weekly. Areas with fine hair (arms) have barely needed more than one treatment. I even stopped doing one arm after the first go-around to see the difference and both arms are pretty much hair-free. Legs and underarms have needed more treatments. They recommend shaving before using. It is impossible (for me anyway) to get every last hair. I will admit, there is some pain if there is hair remaining. Not bad- just a pinching/burning feeling. It has taken the full six weeks but there is very little hair on my legs and underarms. I will keep up with the weekly treatments until there is none left. It is simple to use. Just press against your skin, be sure the white lights are lit up on the side, and press the button. They have a 'gentle' mode for face and other tender areas. Only use in areas you NEVER want hair to grow because it will not come back! it feels so good going into the summer not having to worry about whether or not my legs and underarms are "presentable"!

I have been using razors and wax procedures to remove hairs from body parts ad looking for a better and effective solution to reduce hair growth. I got Smooth Skin Pure IPL Hair Removal System. It came with Smooth Skin Pure IPL Hair Removal System Handset and Base Unit, Power Cable, and User Manual. I have read the manual in detail before the first use and have been using almost 6 weeks. I have a pink skin tone with soft skin. The ergonomic of the Smooth Skin Pure system is great. I tried in my legs for a patch test to make sure there is no adverse reaction on my skin. I have followed the steps to treat my skin. I have connected the power supply plug into an electrical outlet. The fans started and the skin sensors changed to blue, indicating the device is switched on. By pressing the activation button, the device started flashing with a warm sensation. I have started moving the handset to the treatment area slowly without any overlapping between flashes. It is recommended to wait 7 days before treating the same area again and to get complete results, it should be used every week for 12 weeks. The power bar lights will be the indicator of maximum energy used and it is recommended to refer to the chart in the manual for skin tone and equivalent power setting. There are three different modes Power mode, Gentle mode and Speed mode can be used in Smooth Skin Pure. Power Mode is the highest power setting of the device and delivers the best results, as it is using the maximum power output possible for your unique skin tone. I have used the mode for stubborn areas where the hair tends to be denser, such as underarms. I have used Gentle mode in few areas where the skin is very sensitive and using gentle mode will reduce the pain and irritation. I have used Speed mode, which is the fastest mode, and therefore the lowest power mode. Speed Mode is best for treating larger areas where the hair is less dense (such as arms or legs), and where you want to move along the treatment area quickly. When in any of these modes, the Glide method or Stamp method can be used. Stamp Method is recommended for small areas such as the underarm by placing the handset on the skin, press & release the activation button and remove from the skin before carefully re-applying to the next treatment area. The Glide method is recommended for larger areas such as legs by placing the handset on the skin, hold down the activation button and then glide the handset along the skin between flashes. It is very easy to clean by wiping down the skin tone sensor with a dry lint-free cloth after each treatment. The filter gets hot during use and it is recommended to wait 10 mins after use before cleaning the sensor. It comes with 2 years warranty. I have been using Smooth Skin for each week for 6 weeks now. The results were exceeded my expectation and hair growth is very less after 6 weeks of use. I will continue to use this product for another 6 weeks to maximum results. I highly recommend Smooth Skin IPL to everyone for better and long-term results.

Eliminate the Routine of Shaving - New Best Friend

SmoothSkin pure is an FDA approved device to eliminate unwanted body hair safely and quickly using a fairly simple procedure. By using intense pulses of light or IPLs, the cycle of hair growth is broken, and the area treated soon becomes hair free and needs very little maintenance going forward. This unit is a powerful and intelligent device. It is designed to sense the skin’s shade of lightness or darkness and deliver the necessary intensity of IPLs needed to penetrate the skin with light energy that is then converted to heat energy underneath the skin. This heat energy then disables the hair follicle. Any hair that has been treated will naturally fall out over a few days to 1-2 weeks. Since hair growth follows three patterns, IPL treatment is only effective in the growth phase, and since not all hairs are in the same cycle simultaneously, the company recommends that you follow a 12-week initial treatment plan to cover all the new hair growth. There are a few things that are important to note when using the device. The unit itself is very ergonomic in the hand which is very important because the laser head must be straight across the skin while in use. The SmoothSkin pure has a built in UV light protective lens and it has 10 lights down each side that measure the tint or shade of the skin tone in order to emit the needed intensity of light to penetrate the skin and disables the hair follicles from further growth. The IPLs have to be strong but knowing that various parts of the body might be more sensitive and certain areas allow for speed, the product is designed with an Activation Button for flashing the light pulses, a Gentle Mode for sensitive areas and a Speed Mode for removing hair faster on larger areas of the body. Another great feature of this IPL Hair Removal device is that it has unlimited pulses. Many similar products have a set number of pulses and then the product is rendered “Dead”. Not so with the SmoothSkin pure which has unlimited pulses. Even though it should be unplugged when not in use, it has a safety feature that allows it to power down after 10 minutes of inactivity. In today’s busy world with numerous distractions this is a very big plus for me. Before using the product, it is important to shave because the device is only designed to penetrate the skin and destroy hair follicles beneath the skin. After my first use I immediately noticed results. I have used it once a week for 6 weeks and there is hardly any hair on my legs after 7 days, but I will continue the recommended 12-week procedure and then use it for maintenance every two to three weeks thereafter. When I started using the product my skin was tanned and the light intensity measured only 3 to 4 bars on each side of the device. As my tan faded the lights now illuminate 8 or 9 levels of power. The device will not work on very dark skin. Instead of illuminating the white levels of light on the sides of the unit, it will illuminate one red light and not work. I really want to give this product 5 stars, but there is one, and only one, drawback or negative that keeps me from being able to do so. Every week I have tried to use the product on my face and even with the gentle mode, the intensity is so strong and painful that I cannot use it on my face at all. On my legs and underarms, I do not have this problem and I have fairly sensitive skin. Use other than on my face has left absolutely no skin irritation or problems at all. The product is simply wonderful to use, but the skin on my face is so sensitive that it cannot be used on that skin at all. If the SmoothSkin pure had a manual control button or more levels of the Gentle Mode, then it could be used on very sensitive facial skin and I could then justify definitely giving the product FIVE stars. It is definitely a great product and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a product to eliminate daily shaving, especially as summer moves in.

The Smooth Skin Pure IPL isn’t as much a hair removal system as it is a “reduction in the hair re-growth” system. This is a wonderful little device for home use for those of us who are getting tired of the routine shaving. It can be used almost everywhere on the body, including the face. I used it on my legs, my under arms and my upper lip. I was afraid to use it at first because I had nothing to compare it to and didn’t know what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised - after the first little burst of light (be sure not to look directly at the flashes) and little zap, it was just fine. No pain, just a flash of light and a very small zap. I did my legs using the “speed mode” (holding down the button) which flashes about 130 times/minute! One time (I’ve used this device about 6 weeks now) I developed some bumps on my leg about a day after treatment (see photo) but they soon went away and I didn’t get them again. I have definitely noticed a reduction in the amount of hair re-growth on my legs!! Woohoo! I used the “power mode” (pressing the button in intervals) on my under arms - no problems developed and I’m not certain if there is less hair growing as I can’t really see that area very well. I used the gentle mode (pressing the button in intervals) for my upper lip - I was most afraid of this because it is on my face! I had no need to worry. Again, a flash of light and a little zap and no pain! Really, the zap is a little sting that almost immediately goes away. There is a built in sensor that automatically sets the intensity of the light based on skin tone. This sensor will not work & the unit will not work unless the device is flat on your skin. I had a little trouble with this on my upper lip - but moving it a little solved this issue. The one thing I would change: it doesn’t have a power button. Just plug it in to start or unplug it to stop. It would make using it easier with the addition of a power button. Overall, this is a great device and I do know I will have to continue to use it as I have been for at least 12 weeks to see what it really can do, followed by touch-ups. To be able to permanently stop shaving, so worth it! And with unlimited flashes, I guess this should last me a lifetime!!

    So Far, So Good

The Smooth Skin - Pure IPL Hair Removal System in black is a FDA approved, long-term proposition that is used to remove unwanted hair on either the face or the body. This machine can be used by both women or men, but requires a 12-week commitment, treating the specific areas every 7 days. The Smooth Skin Pure system includes only 3 items: the handset, the base unit, and the power cable. So, the handset has a glass filter treatment window at the front of the unit that the light laser comes out of, with a skin tone sensor that the light and treatment feature emanate from; the activation and mode buttons are on top of this handset, too. It is important that the people who want to use this system have certain skin tones and those with darker skin tones plus light-colored hair like gray, white, blonde or red hair may be too fair. When you squarely place the sensor over the light window on your skin, the device will determine if your skin tone is safe for use and if it is not, it will prevent use. You will see a series of white lights activating on the hand set when it is squarely placed on the skin, thus allowing the unit to start What is IPL? This method of hair removal uses a light and heat to essentially burn the unwanted hair at the root and therefore, must be performed weekly, for the 12 initial weeks, then with a maintenance program of about every few weeks. The program requires that you first shave the area that you want to treat. So, I am a 60+ year old woman and decided to treat my underarms, my legs, the tops of my forearms, stray facial hairs above the lip and any stray hairs along the chin, that we women unfortunately wind up with in later life. I have religiously been doing the weekly treatment in all of these named areas. The manufacturer wanted us to review their product at 6 weeks, halfway into the regiment. I think that as far as my arms, underarms, and legs go it is has been very effective, thus far, however, I do not believe that those areas have had very heavy hair growth. I must state, though, that there is a learning curve as you weekly work on your particular area. If you hold the handset and have it squarely on your skin, pressing the activation button, you will be able to quickly go up and down the area with the multiple blinking red light that lets you know that you have successfully treated the hair growth in that area. So, when I am doing the middle of my leg where the bone runs, rather than hold the handset parallel to my leg, I will turn it perpendicular and take steps up the leg until I reach my knee because the handset that way makes better contact, squarely, in that area that way and thus allows the light treatment. You will smell some burning, but after the first time, I am used to treatment in these areas without discomfort, redness, etc. While you must do the treatments on clean skin, I apply a rich lotion to soothe that skin after the treatment. So, you might be wondering how I feel about using this on my face? I mentioned earlier that there is are mode buttons on the top-gentle mode and speed mode. When neither of those modes are engaged, the power mode with the highest setting is on. Clearly, the face is the most sensitive and I initially used the gentle mode because it was more comfortable. After I got used to the heat and burn sensation, I just used it on the regular mode. You will definitely smell the burning when using it there and my facial skin afterwards, because it has just been heated up, is dried out and I use Aloe Vera gel to soothe and hydrate the area. I know that it is easier to do the chin areas then the area over the lip, which is the most sensitive. I have to turn the glass filter in different directions to get the contact that I need to activate the light treatment. I do know that I am having very good success with the treatment of my extremities and underarms, but I feel that facial hair is tougher because getting the glass filter over the lips is more difficult and getting the hair roots is just tougher. However, I am encouraged enough to keep on going over the rest of the 12 week period and then do the maintenance. Therefore, I am guardedly positive about the process, but given that I am only half way through this process, I cannot fully commit to it yet.

First thing I'd like to note for anyone considering this product: Please follow the instructions and do the test area. I started with the test area on my calf, and I'm so glad I did because the full power was too painful for me. I am very fair-skinned and I needed to do the gentle setting the entire time I used this product. For anyone that is curious, it feels like a little zap and the discomfort goes away almost immediately. After doing this for a while, you won't feel it anymore or it will be less intense. That being said, the area that I did the full power test on worked right away after just one application, and after 6 weeks, I do not have any hair growth in that area. The gentle setting took a little longer to see results. After 6 sessions, I noticed less hair, but not completely clear. The hair on my legs is coarse so I think I will need to work up to the full power setting. Overall this product works. I would not suggest it to anyone that has sensitive skin or has a low pain tolerance as it does sting and takes some getting used to.

Facts- Instructions tell you to: Shave before use (use within a few hours of shaving for best results). Use once a week, every 7 days, for 12 weeks (this is to catch the hairs at every stage of the growth cycle). After the 12 weeks, touch up every 4-8 weeks. There are 3 modes - Full power, feather/gentle and speed. My experience: I read tons of reviews (and watched lots of YouTube videos) before purchasing. I was skeptical because I have dark/thick hair, but I was desperate to try something because I was tired of shaving and not loving my “strawberry skin”. I noticed a dramatic difference after my 2nd use! Typically after shaving my legs, I’d feel the hair growing back within less than 24 hours (I mean, seriously- after shaving, my legs would only be smooth for a few hours). I’m only 6 weeks into the 12 week process, but already I can comfortably go without shaving between using this. Early on, the full power mode was a bit painful (stinging sensation - much like any other hair removal). As the weeks go on, there is less stinging. I’ve realized that the gentle and speed modes are less effective for me so I’m using full power each time. I’m thinking I’ll be able to switch to speed mode for touch ups after my 12th week. *I’ve also started using this on my underarms, but the full power mode is too intense for this sensitive area so I’m using feather mode there. Overall, I’m so impressed and pleased with my results so far. I never thought something like this would actually work for me - wish I’d purchased this sooner. It was pricey, but based on my results I completely feel the investment was more than worth it. For me, it’s been life changing- and I know that seems dramatic, but not having to shave daily and not being self conscious about prickly legs and strawberry skin has been huge for me. I’ve recommended this to several friends.

I have been using this IPL for several weeks and see a very pleasing reduction in chin and underarm hair (actually underarms are now hairless). If you have grey or white hairs it will not eliminate them, but since they are less noticible I am not bothered with them. Bikini zone is a bit more stubborn but I will continue with treatments to see if I can reduce the growth there. So far so good - Expensive but for me it is worth the $

I was hesitant to buy this because I didn't think it was going to work but I was completely wrong! It does work even on thicker hair! I started seeing results a week after I used it for the first time but do your research as everyone's body reactions are different. You will feel a slight burning sensation for a split of a second at a time but nothing that you can't endure. All this being said, everywhere in the instructions it implies that people with lighter skin tones will be the ones benefiting the most which is my case.

I would recommend this to a friend
