The sound quality has been excellent on this wireless over ear headset! I still enjoy using it, though I don’t use it heavily. It’s clean. It won’t blow you away like a Beyerdynamic 770 on a DAC, but for what it does, it excels. The high end is bright but not piercingly crisp, and the low end is satisfying, can be adjusted to be very bass heavy and hit pretty low, though not like a Skullcandy Crusher(which is like adding subwoofers in your trunk, using tactile vibrations to mimic ultra low end response), but it’s low end is accurate and can get quite boomy if you turn it up. One thing that killed it for me with the Crusher was the bass turning off, like how a PC can go into energy saver mode... I found that annoying and the tactile experience wasn’t worth the “energy saver mode”. Callers can hear me loud and clear which is a major plus. I’ve noticed if I leave my phone down and walk out to the living room it can get choppy connection, but who really does that and for long distances anyway? It holds a charge and I can use it a lot when going to do something outside throughout the day and it holds well. The Music Center and Headphones apps help fine tune the sound experience, allowing higher or lower bass settings, but I would prefer if it had a parametric EQ with at least 12 bands. Not a deal breaker, but I’d love to be able to dial it in using pink noise. For the price of this set, and EQ would’ve been irresistible. Overall, I’ve enjoyed this headset! I’d definitely come back again for another one if I ever lost/broke it, or it finally reaches the end of its lifespan. Though next time I’m tempted to try the active noise canceling one. I also have a Sony XB in ear set, which I use from time to time on pc, and have owned a smaller on-ear version in the past. Sony hasn’t let me down yet.

Pros: Comfortable enough to wear for a while. Pretty good sound output at this price point (even better if you snag it on sale!). Easy pairing. Excellent battery life. Bass can better your listening experience. Cons: Feels a bit bulky. Can't turn voice alerts off. No included carrying case. Summary: If you're looking for comfortable and good sound producing headphones for everyday listening, these are for you.

Honestly, I did not care for the Sony XB950B1 Extra Bass Wireless Headphones. You can use them either wireless or you can use the included 4' wired cable to listed to them "hard wired". I tried them both ways and the sound seemed muffled. There were not any nice mid's or any high end signals, just muddy all around. I listen to classic rock, jazz and music from bands such as Within Temptation, Nightwish, and Sirenia. Perhaps something from Rihanna, Drake or Iggy Azalea would sound better on the Sony Extra Bass Wireless headphones. You could also download the Sony Headphones Connect app that lets you adjust the bass levels and gives you presets for club, hall, arena or outdoor style sound. I did not try this app out, as the headphones will work without the app. These headphones are also very big, but they are also very light and comfortable for something this size. It took quite awhile to initially fully charge the Sony's using the supplied USB cable on my PC, but you can get up to 18 hours of listening wireless music playback. The Sony's also come with a one foot long charging cable that you plug into a USB port to charge the headphones and a 4' long cable to "hard wire" your headphones to your phone, iPod or what ever you wish as long as it has a 3.5 mm jack. A nice soft black bag is also included to protect the Sony's when you're not listening to them. It includes a big pouch on the inside to carry the charging cable and 4' long cable with room to spare. Honestly, these were not the headphones for me. For the price of $199.95, you can do a lot better.

A great pair of headphones that to these ears sound better than anything I tested in the $200-$400 range. Buy these when they go on sale, which is fairly often. I picked up a pair for $130 (that's $70 off regular retail). This model, the XB950B1, is the new version of Sony's XB950BT that's been out a couple of years. Specs are virtually identical -- same frequency range plus 18 hours of battery life when jamming on Bluetooth (your results may vary, depending on volume setting). I perceive slightly better sound quality when the headphones are used with the included 3.5mm audio cable jacked directly into a device, but Bluetooth is convenient and pairing is easy-peasey. Very comfortable, deep earpad cushions. I can wear these for hours without fatigue or overheating. Now, if you like bass, you buy these. Bass is a key selling point on this model. Even if you don't care for a lot of bottom-end, just don't activate the bass boost, which only works, anyway, when Bluetooth is engaged. Another feature with this new model is the downloadable app you can get off Apple or Google Playstore. The app lets you adjust the bass response and select from several preset audio environments to customize your listening experience. The settings are basic, but it's a nice supplement to go with whatever music player is loaded on your smartphone. I use PowerAmp, which has an EQ, tone controls and more, but for quick adjustments the Sony app works well. It's free, too, so why not? Bottom line, these headphones are top-notch and I'm convinced I;d have to spend well north of $400 to get anything better.. One thing I cannot stress enough: the headphones do not come with a case and you really should get a case to store them. The Best Buy in my town doesn't carry headphone cases, but there are many sturdy and inexpensive cases available on Amazon and elsewhere for $10-$20. I encourage a case because the headphone cans have a very nice matte finish that WILL scratch if you chuck them in a briefcase, bookbag, whatever. I don't think you can go wrong with Sony or this model. For the price, these headphones are as good as it gets. Enjoy.

I had kind of strange requirement for headphones, so keep that in mind when reading my review. I needed something that would be comfortable to listen to for 8 hours at work, wireless so that they don’t fall off when moving at work, good sound quality long battery length, loud in my ear without everyone else in the office hearing it, and ones that will sit around my ears rather then on or in them. For my purposes they were great, only complaint is that they make my ears sweat after listening to them for a long term.

I got these during a Sony sale for $100 and it was a great purchase. Much better than any other brand in that price range. Definitely better than any of the Beats. Only the Bose were superior at this Best Buy. Now, the XB950N1 from Sony might be slightly better quality, but I think these are much more comfortable and better looking. The wireless is a nice touch, and works great with all of my Apple devices. I'd highly recommend these headphones.

Great sound. Very crisp. Xtra base is optional, which I like. Love that it's Bluetooth. Metallic blue is gorgeous! These replaced my daughter's JVC brand of earphones that were under warranty but no longer available. I listened to a few brands at the store. Not only did these sound fantastic, but they happened to be on sale! So with our credit on the replacement, plus the great sale price on these, I feel like we got a great bargain!

Full disclosure: I was able to utilize a very cool coupon bundle which makes this purchase an incredible value. It is not Bose, however, for the price, I have no complaints, its Bluetooth long battery life and over the ear comfort. Sony is well respected, given all the above. I would recommend for the price.

I work 12 hour shifts in a lab by myself. Having a quality pair of headphones that is comfortable and easy to use is a MUST. These things run solidly all day on my shift. They are super comfortable for very, very extended wear. The model before this was better in my opinion, because the play button allowed you to use youtube with the screen off (w/o the paid youtube membership...). But the range on them is crazy- I can leave my phone in the lab, go out, down to the other end of the hall to get more samples, no cutting out. Leave the hall I work in, go to the next one over to go to the bathroom, and still have perfect sound. Easily 30-50ft range. I have owned Klipsch... Bose... these babies are my favorite over the ear headphones, and were ~25% cheaper than the Bose. They even come with a cord to use them wired if your battery dies. The mic is clear. The volume controls, play/pause/skip... all intuitive and easy to use. Highly recommend.

    Amazing BT Headphones

I purchased the Sony headphones roughly a year ago, I usually wait 6-10 months to do a review. This set accomplishes everything that i expected them to. These days i think everyone thinks they are a major critique when it comes to products and set way to high of expectations for items. with that said I tried the heat set on in store asked a couple different employees their opinion and they were honest about them - informing me that they are no Bose headphones but for the price the give amazing quality. Well that is not an exaggeration, the 950 B-1 series Sony Headphones keep me from hearing my riding lawn mower (mention this because it is a really loud mower). they stay on my head while in the gym and while I am jogging, all the while providing great audio. I would recommend these to anyone who would like a great quality set but do not have the money to buy a 300$ set of headphones.

    BEAT-U-TEE-FUL Sound from Sony

I purchased the black Sony headphones originally. As a public transportation commuter I was forced to place my headphones in my backpack while working. After the upsetting discovery of finding the ear piece dislodged from the headset, I utilized my protection plan and upgraded with the "shocking blue metallic" Sony headphones. They are SPECTACULAR within the sound quality, comfort, and battery life. Although adjustable, they are a bit too large and arrange a dopic lobbing when upon my head. I am also disappointed that they do not fold up as the "Nick Cannon" headphones originally did and now Dre's latest "Beats" feature the "fold-up" convenience. The "reset" component requires the use of a computer for procedure which accompanies an inconvenience when traveling away from home. The Sony "blue metallic" headphones rock the "sound child" I birth every minute they surround my HUMAN head!

These are are seriously the best headphones I’ve ever owned. The sound is big, bassy, and not too jarring. While it’s not noise isolating, it has the effect of blocking out riff raff and can be like a buffer between positive sound and noise you’d rather not hear. I lived with typical noisy neighbors in NYC and these headphones allowed me to function normally. If Dr. Dre and Apple weren’t busy tag teaming and endorsing products, this would seriously kill their overpriced and tawdry lineup of “headphones”. Sony, get Drake or another big name to endorse your headphones and you will have Dr. Dre and Apple on their metaphorical knees. Keep rocking me, baby!!!

These headphones were purchased during the Black Friday sales event. I was looking for a low budget wireless headset for late night TV watching and I couldn't be happier with my purchase thus far. Pros: Great bass for the price, can be a little much but easily adjusted using the my headset app to fit your preference. Easy to set up and use. Decent battery life, competitive for the price point. Comfortable; even for 3+ hours of use. Cons: Sweaty ears after prolonged use, but that's expected from most leather cupped head sets. Poor microphone quality; even if its not a selling point for the headphones, it should be noted that the microphone does have some issues picking up audio. All in all, I am very happy with the purchase and would recommend this item.

My 5-yr old wired Beats headphone has seen its better days and could not be rescued, and I debated if I should buy another wired or wireless Beats (at hefty prices) or from a worthy competitor. I am glad that I chose the Sony - XB950B1 Extra Bass Wireless headphone at a discounted price (half of a discounted wireless Beats price). It has great sounds at all ranges, and I can't tell the difference in sound quality between my previous wired Beats and the new Sony. Great value product that I recommend to anyone who wish to save some $$ with a good quality headphone.

I'll start by saying I've owned a variety of headphones, from HiFiMan, Harman Kardon and Sennheiser, to Skullcandy and Beats. My most recent over-ears that I can best compare to, are the Beats Studio 2.0. The Sony XB950B1 are very bass heavy. The sound is very warm, leaning towards dark. They're comfortable to wear, the Bluetooth range is phenomenal, and the battery life is stellar. The sound however, is a "love it or hate it" profile. I personally listen to these with the bass turned down a couple steps (using the Sony app) which really helps the clarity, in my opinion. Vocals can sound recessed, even with the bass turned down. Great headphones for EDM and other bass heavy music like hip hop. Compared to the Beats Studio 2.0, the Beats offer more controlled cleaner bass response, and more forward and clear mids. The Beats battery life isn't as good, though they are doing more (active noise canceling, which the Sony headphones don't have) which make a difference in noisy environments. If you can get them at a sale price under $100, not a terrible set of cans. At full price of $200? I'd go for the Beats Studio or Sennheiser.

Sony products are always my go to when it comes to electronics. I guess air pods are where it’s at for most but for me they’re irritable and I can’t wear them long term. Also the sound of Sony just doesn’t compare, in my untrained, amateur opinion to pods in your ear. This have been worn for workouts for quite a while and even with sweat and all they’re in pristine condition and battery life is great.
