The hype on this is real... VERY real. At this point, I'm not certain why anyone would wait to see this with the many positive reviews; but, if you have, allow me to get you running out to grab Spider Man: Homecoming. If you've seen Civil War, you got a taste of Tom Holland as Peter Parker/ Spider Man. I've yet to meet anyone who walked away from Civil War without absolutely falling in love with the newest iteration of Peter, so I'm going to assume you have taste, as well, and found him refreshing and the embodiment of the Web-Head. And, good news! The film even revisits the Berlin airport battle, this time in the form of Peter's video diary. From prior to the battle, through it, up until Peter leaving, (plus, a deleted, lengthier version of the video diary in the extras,) you'll get this wonderful re-introduction just to start you off. Spider Man 2 was, to this point, the best in either the original trilogy or the first reboot, and it might be pressing it to say Homecoming "blows away" Spider-Man 2, but I couldn't blame anyone if they believed that. Landing Michael Keaton to play the Vulture was a stroke of genius. He plays the role perfectly in this imagining of him. Not necessarily evil, but a man tossed aside and doing anything necessary to ensure he and his family continue their lives. He's joined by The Tinkerer and The Shocker, (unnamed in the film,) and a quick acknowledgement of The Scorpion is thrown out in a possible foreshadowing of Spidey's next movie. Robert Downey returns as Iron Man, and thankfully, he's not overused. He continues to nail the Tony Stark role, which could have easily overshadowed Tom Holland's Peter in their shared scenes, but Holland is, just as Downey, beyond perfect casting. Truly, I cannot wait to see them onscreen together again when Infinity Wars hits. If there's one negative, it's that there is no Mary Jane. Peter without Mary seems almost blasphemous. If they had chosen to simply not have her appear, this could have been overlooked, but assigning the MJ moniker to an altogether different character- Michelle- just doesn't seem right. It's paramount to having Superman having a character named Leigh replacing Lois Lane. Truly, this doesn't detract from the movie, but seems so totally out of place that it comes across as its only blemish in an otherwise perfect film. Spidey is finally in the larger MCU, and it's a trip long-awaited, perfectly executed, and worthy of the double-Homecoming-meaning.

After his debut in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man left fans hungry for more, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, his first starring role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, does not disappoint. Tom Holland is great as both Spider-Man and his awkward teen alter-ego Peter Parker; Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield both turned in fine performances in their films, but for the first time I really felt like we were watching an average nerdy high-school kid suddenly thrust into a larger, scarier world. Marvel movies must guest-star other heroes, and Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark/Iron Man serves admirably without stealing the show, acting as a stern yet distant & neglectful mentor until Peter ends up teaching him a thing or two about the responsibility that comes with great power. The rest of the cast does great work, particularly Jacob Batalon as Peter's even dorkier best friend Ned and Marissa Tomei as his too-hot-for-some Aunt May. If anyone threatens to steal the show though, it's Michael Keaton, turning in a terrific performance as Adrian Toomes aka the Vulture, who gets an awesome makeover from his geezer-in-tights origins, becoming a high-tech powerhouse with a plausible and not entirely unsympathetic backstory. The soundtrack is engagingly retro & takes me back to my own high school days; I took particular delight in the inclusion of my favorite band the Ramones (who also hail from Spider-Man's neck of the woods in Queens, NY). While there are perhaps some questionable/debatable bits in the film (Did Spider-Man's heroic efforts in the ferry scene really need to echo Tobey Maguire's famous "train scene"? What happened to Spidey's trademark "spider-sense"?) in the end these are minor quibbles at best & do not detract from what is a very enjoyable viewing experience!

This is the third reboot of Spider-Man in the movies. The first series of Spider-Man movies (Spider-Man; Spider-Man 2; Spider-Man 3) starred Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. The second series of Spider-Man movies (Amazing Spider-Man; Amazing Spider-Man 2) starred Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. This is the first movie in the third series of Spider-Man movies that stars Tom Holland. This movie is tied into the current Marvel Movie Cinematic Universe (Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man...). It is highly suggested to watch Captain America: Civil War before seeing this movie. This version of Spider-Man is introduced in that movie and it directly continues in this movie (but seeing Captain America: Civil War first is very helpful, but not necessary to understand and./or enjoy this movie). This movie was a lot of fun. It features a younger Spider-Man who has just finished a mission with the Avengers and is now having to deal with normal teenage high school life, while learning how to become a better superhero. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) appear in this movie acting as Spider-Man's mentors This is a superhero movie and a highschool movie all rollled into one!

What a great movie for the whole family. Disney / Marvel teamed up with SONY Pictures to bring Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The ( MCU ). It's something that I feel should have been done a long time ago. Spider-Man made a cameo in Marvel's : Captain America Civil War and by combining not only the Marvel characters from two different Movie companies they actually created a story arch that ties directly into what's been happening in the Disney owned properties such as Avengers Age of Ultron and sets up events yet to Come in Avengers : Infinity War. Having Spider-man in that cast seems only fitting and Tom Holland does a wonderful job not only playing the part of Peter Parker but he did 90% of his own stunts behind the Spider-man Mask. It just felt like you knew the character already. Spider-man is a HUGE part of the Marvel Universe and it may be safe to say he might even be the Flag-ship of MARVEL Comics. The movie seems fast paced and really there is no origin story because let's face it ... the other movies already out have done Spider-man origin enough. We all know who Peter Parker is by now. I liked this movie better than the previous installments with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. There is nothing here though that's original or mind blowing that you haven't seen before but I thought the script was well written and the support cast was good and just having Michael Keaton back in movies was a treat in itself. Spider-man in 3D is just sugar on top. Those fans of Marvel Movies will indeed love this offering from SONY.

This is one of the best blockbusters of summer 2017. I was excited to watch it in theaters and I was anticipating getting a copy to watch at home on my home entertainment system. Without spoiling any of the movie, I am really glad that Marvel/Disney and Sony were able to work out contractual complexities of Hollywood movie studios and produce a really great film that fits into the greater MCU. Spider-man is funny and none of the origin story had to be retold. The movie production quality was spot on and the story was entertaining throughout. Technical aspects of digital transfer in this version is great and true to form as it was in theaters. I have a very highend HDR 4K TV that is able to produce all the nuances of the HDR10 and DolbyVision standards and the quality was spot on. I really enjoy the fact that no only does the 4K disc come at highest quality but I have access to the content from most major online content vendors as a part of the Movies Anywhere network. So I can watch my digital copies on iTunes, Vudu, Amazon and Google. If you are a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) you will need to watch this as the character development and appearance will appear in future movies. Spider-man: Homecoming warrants owning a copy as it was very entertaining and has replay value. 5 full stars and 2 thumbs way up!

    Peter Parker Comes Home

Having read the original Spiderman comics as a teenager in the Sixties, I identified with him more than any of the other characters in the comics that I read. I liked both Spiderman movie series, and each previous character had a lot of things to like about them. This Peter Parker is more like the original comics character than the others. He isn't a soft and fuzzy dreamer, and he isn't just a witty, hip quipster. He taps into the exuberance and angst of being young in a realistic way, chaffing at the bit to prove himself and win acceptance, while learning to control his self-doubt and insecurity. The pivotal line in the movie is when he worries that he is nothing without the high-tech suit his mentor, Iron Man has given him. He can't move forward until he starts to believe in himself and rely on what he himself brings to the table, regardless of what else is at hand. Once he digs deep inside himself and learns who he really can be, all his problems are refocused in ways that make them possible to deal with. In this way, Peter Parker is an example of the potential inside of each of us waiting to be discovered, understood, and harnessed so that we can be everything we are meant to be. That is where this movie truly succeeds, and why I want to see more of this Peter Parker.

    A Different Spidey

This movie is a huge separation from previous attempts at the character. As many people already knew from Civil War, Tom Holland does a great job as both Peter and Spidey. There's a clear separation in his personas with and without the suit. The tone of this film is very light in comparison to the others. On the other hand it also lets some serious moments be serious and those are the parts that really shine. Unlike Guardians Vol.2 and the more recent Thor: Ragnarok, this film fortunately knows when to stop joking around. On first watch, I enjoyed it, but was hindered by my own expectations. It also didn't help that I spent half the movie trying to work out in my mind why this rewrites the entire MCU timeline with one title card. On the 2nd watch, I was able to truly enjoy the accomplishments of this film. Everything from the comedy to the creative action sequences definitely stand out. The 3D is just as good as all the other MCU films. It's still a conversion, same as all the rest, but the company behind it does a great job. All in all, a great watch and a welcome installment to the MCU, minus the timeline retcon.

I really love this new version of Spider-Man! This movie was pretty top notch, too. I love how the Marvel Cinematic Universe is so connected with all the same actors- even in the TV world, too! Spider-Man has been my favorite hero since I was a kid back in the 1970s so I am definitely a fan boy. I think this Peter Parker is awesome, too. One thing that I do miss is Mary Jane Watson and even a Gwen Stacy but I am willing to see what the new MJ (Michelle played by Zendaya) has in store for Peter's love life. Spider-Man has always been about relationships- with his Uncle Ben, Aunt May, Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane, Flash, Harry Osborn, etc. so it will be nice to see that play out, too. Oh, one thing that I didn't like about this movie is that when Spidey was crushed, he garnered strength by say that he is Spider-Man. In the comic books, Peter Parker isn't that arrogant! What gave him strength to overcome many (if not all) obstacles was his love for May, Mary, Gwen, etc. Anyway, besides a few minor let downs, this movie was excellent!

First, let me review how Best Buy handled this purchase: I bought it at Best Buy over Amazon because I didn't want a stolen package from porch pirates. I bought it at beginning of December when it was $19.99. The following weekend BB dropped the price to $14.99, so I went in and had them give me a price adjustment/refund. One week before Christmas another store dropped the price to $10, so back I went to BB to get another price adjustment/refund.... and they cheerfully did so! Just had to bring the proof of the other store's price. Best Buy's price match guarantee rocks!!! As for the movie itself... I bought this bluray for my son for Christmas and we watched it that evening. I personally am getting tired of the whole Marvel franchise of movies and was wary of yet another Spiderman movie; but, I was pleasantly delighted with this reboot of the Spiderman character. It was refreshing and funny! I would recommend it to any one of any age, just a fun movie!

I'm a big Spiderman fan, and this film was definitely good, but I absolutely hated the beginning of the movie. It jumped in at a really weird spot and it didn't feel like a stand alone film because they were trying too hard to immediately tie in the Avengers. It would have been way better if they eased into that a little more, but overall it was not a bad film. It was my least favorite of the non-cartoon Spider-Man movies, but that's not a bad thing, because they're all great films. If you can get through the first 15 minutes or so, it's a pretty good movie.

Everyone wants to feel special, and Peter Parker's no exception. He wants to be more than just your neighborhood Spiderman, and this movie delivers. Each scene presents him with new conflicts, but he manages to explode through each fiery obstacle and face the villains head-on. Whether they're breathing down his neck, or whether it's his girlfriend Liz's Dad throwing a wrench into the mix, or whether it's his best friend Ned leaking his secret by announcing it at the worst possible time (gosh Ned, get a grip!), Peter's resolve to get past them all and rise above has us cheering him on every step of the way. I can't reveal all, but there are new nuances you'll spy as the story unfolds, all the way up until the end. Spiderman Homecoming was such an upbeat movie, and had a strong cast of industry veterans that made their characters interesting, I really can't wait for the sequel in 2019.

This movie is awesome!!!!! I cant believe that i debated on buying it as the last two recent releases were not that great to me personally compared to the first 3 spider man movies that were done by Toby McGuire, however I am very impressed with the performance of the new actor and love seeing new faces on A list movies. The visual effects look great, spider man's Costume looked amazing on my LG OLED E6 playing the movie off my OPPO UDP-205. There is so much detail on the costume and you can see the stitching very closely on the 4k version. The surround decoding was also amazing on this movie compared to others that seem to have the actors voices at 50% volume while the effects sound like explosions and shattering glass and music backgrounds are full blast at 100% volume. This is a nice mix and hope the editors doing the decoding keep doing a good job.

I held off on watching this film, didn't see it in the theater, largely because I was burned-out on Spider-Man. Anyway, long story short I can't believe how much I enjoyed Homecoming. Total breath of fresh air both for Spider-Man and frankly for Marvel Studios as well. This is arguably the best film within the Marvel Cinematic universe since the halcyon days of 2014 (Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy). Homecoming is fun, it's funny, the tone and feel are just right. Tom Holland is terrific and Michael Keaton superb. No retelling of the origin story *or* parade of usual suspects in the supporting roles, outside Aunt May and a couple of Peter's classmates. A great combination of high school, superhero and comedy with a real sense of stakes and

This movie had action, adventure, a love story (sort-of), and tied it all in to the Marvel movie universe. This version of Spiderman is my favorite! He actually looks like and acts like a teenager (like he should), and has more natural reactions to things happening around him. The actor that plays Spiderman is adorable, and perfect for the role. It was great seeing Michael Keaton, the former Batman, in this superhero movie - he was perfect for the part. Peter's best friend was great too, and they were funny together. I don't want to give out any spoilers, but I would highly recommend the movie.

Ladies and Gents, we have a new Spider-Man and he's better than ever! Tom Holland steps into the suit and gives, in my opinion, the best live action Spider-Man to date. He is great as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man, something I feel the previous actors didn't quite nail down. Toby Maguire was a great Peter Parker, but just so-so as Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield was an excellent Spider-Man, but I didn't dig his Peter Parker as much. Homecoming also is just an al around great and fun movie. Michael Keaton as Vulture gives us one of the better Spider-Man villains we have seen to date. The supporting cast is great as well. Also, the inclusion of Robert Downey Jr.s Iron Man is a cool addition, but one this viewer felt was kind of shoehorned in. I believe the studio was wary of yet another Spider-Man reboot and felt the need to add another 'big" name to the movie to draw in people. Thats just my thinking though, I don't know if thats true or not. I would have seen this regardless of Iron Man being in it or not. Overall its a great movie and tons of fun. If you are a Spider-Man fan, I see no reason why you wouldn't enjoy this.

I did a longer review of this movie in the Steelbook section because that was my first purchase of the movie. I bought this version as a gift for a friend. I continue to tell everyone how amazing this movie is and what a wonderful Spider-Man/Peter Parker the actor Tom Holland is in this movie. I've seen it several times and I even bought it again to give it to my friend. I've heard a lot of people say they didn't want to see this movie because they are "tired of Spider-Man" but I would say don't be that person. This is the truest version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man that we have ever seen and it is a ton of fun. Not to mention Michael Keaton is probably one of the best villains we have seen so far in the Marvel world. Who knew that people would be saying that about the Vulture!? Definitely one of the best films of 2017!

What a great addition to the MCU! While many reviews may touch on the growing relationship between Spider-Man & Iron Man, it's worth mentioning that Michael Keaton's Vulture is another great performance from this actor. An essential movie for MCU collectors, this version has the added 4K disc (for higher-resolution viewing with the required 4K Blu-ray players available now) & Digital Copy, which allows the disc-owner to watch it across multiple platforms, Like Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, & YouTube TV, so when you're not in front of your TV or don't have the disc, you can still watch the movie through your phone's mobile data connection or a shared Wi-Fi connection, if you're traveling.

This was once a SteelBook thought to be out of reach. I, like most of my SteelBook purchases, already owned Spider-Man Homecoming digitally in 4K UHD. I went and got the Blu-ray Pop Art version thinking that's all I'd be able to get. Alas, the tides turned. I saw a listing for a SEALED copy on OfferUp and went and bought it for $40. I happily paid that. It was going for $100+. The art on this piece is BEAUTIFUL to say the least! When Best Buy restocked it at $15, I went and bought ANOTHER! It's my favorite 2 SteelBooks in my Marvel Cinematic Universe SteelBook Collection. TWO thumbs up!!
