    I love this phone!

Overview: For someone like me who isn’t eligible for upgrades this is an awesome bang for the buck purchase. Furthermore, if you aren't do for an upgrade but want an android phone this will do the job. The Comet does 85% to 90% of what the other smartphones with the bill. Plus, it does it without forcing you to selling your soul to a cellphone provider for another two years. PROS: Price – less than two hundred, that’s awesome. Versatility – email, music, swype texting and a backup camera. Android OS – stable and more or less virus free. The OS overweighs its shortcomings, at least in my class. CONS: I will not lie, this phone is not for everyone! Battery life is bad – then again that’s true for all androids; it’s the big screen. Lowering the screen brightness and turning off WIFI does improve battery life. Memory- Are you kidding me, this phone only came with a class 2, 2gig microSD card! After installing 7 more apps the phone slowed considerably; luckily I had a class 6, 4gig card lying around. Deficiency amended in my case. Consider upgrading the card, it does help. Internet – it is slow sometimes but bearably so. Multitouch – there isn’t any, for shame! But you get over it quick. Screen size lowers resolution and makes some apps hard to use. It is below industry standard. Feel – it is plastic and doesn’t feel cutting edge. It feels like a standard phone deal with it. Conclusion: Great phone is you want an android phone but do not require the bulky size or all the bells and whistles. Great starter smartphone and a very functional; take my advise though. Get a protector, the gel skin sold by T-mobile works fine. If you do not you will regret it, it scratches easily. It meets all my requirements but that doesn't mean it meets yours. Try it out, if you don't like it return it. It is that simple

    Good value, bad battery life

Nice having a prepaid app phone. Small screen, but readable. Slow programs (starting apps, initializing wifi), but that's a given for price and processor. Just requires a bit of patience. But the battery life stinks. lasts about a day and a half or so on one charge. So if you want to use it away from the computer/power plug (in other words, if you want it to be mobile), need to charge every night. Turning of wifi, GPS, &c. doesn't make an appreciable difference. But, for right now, willing to make the trade off.

    Decent Starter Phone

I bought one of these for my wife, and the Google Maps/GPS came in very handy for a cross country trip we just took. What I like about the phone is it is small (you aren't carrying a brick around with you), it is a full Android 2.2 phone with all the features, and it has a very good price point. What I don't like about it is the battery (but most Android phones are battery hogs), they keyboard is initially very hard to type on (due to small size, it does get easier, and I would have rather bought a phone assembled in an allied country (Chinese make). All in all a good priced Android phone, especially a good deal for a prepaid/no contract phone. I would recommend it if you don't mind the small virtual key pad, don't mind frequent charging, are poor (like me), but you still want all the Android features. T-Mobile has various low priced plans, include a $2 for 1 day only as you need it data plan, pretty cool. Stay away from this phone if you don't like small keypads or have the cash to get a nicer model.

Great value for an Android 2.2 Froyo, camera aside

If you don't have a Google Android OS based phone yet, GET ONE! There are literally thousands of free or low-priced apps available to download (you WILL be amazed!) from the Android Market or even elsewhere on the web. You get 5 easy-to-navigate, adjacent desktops which can be arranged with custom wallpaper, folders, icons and widgets anywhere or way you choose to suit your needs. I love this new freedom to personalize my phone! I believe the battery life is average, but I put my phone on charge every night so this isn't an issue for me. I might add that the battery seems to recharge in no time (for those concerned). The only deal-breaker for you may be the low quality camera. So, if you think you'll need to use your phone for nice, crisp photos, definitely try another (Samsung, etc). Whatever brand or model you get, make sure it is running Google Android 2.2 or higher. I almost forgot to mention that this phone can access your home WiFi or other free internet network without you having to pay for a data plan. If you do buy a data plan though, this phone can provide internet access to nearby PCs or laptops wirelessly through its built-in WiFi HotSpot feature. Happy Androiding! =)

    Great except for battery

I had this phone for a little while now and it works great. My only complaint is the battery life is really poor. And there is no extended battery option available I can find anywhere for this particular phone. The battery alone cost this review a star. And it's not just opinion that the battery life is bad and needs to be charged a lot. Just Google T-Mobile Comet Battery Life and you will see a lot of messages about this issue. There are recommendations to help the battery out there but still it won't get anywhere near what they say it should in standby. Please if anyone can get the advertised 12 days of standby, please post how. When I got the phone because of a issue with T-Mobile systems not setting it up correctly, I went 2 days without telling anyone my number or making calls with it until my account was fixed. And it didn't even last the 2 days in standby. But battery aside, everything else works great with this phone. If it had a decent battery life even close to advertised and I would have given it 5 stars.

    Great Android Phone

Okay I've had this phone since the end of April. I'm doing this review now since I'm not one to use something for 10 minutes complain and return it. This is a great starter smartphone for the price. You can either use Swype ( which is default ) keyboard or switch to the Android keyboard. I switch to the Android keyboard. The layout of the keyboard is better in my opinion. The screen size is perfect for me, I previously had the T-Mobile Tap which was also a phone made by Huawei, and the screen size was the same BUT the touchscreen on this phone is a-lot better. Yes the camera on this phone is bad but that's because there isn't a flash. I've had this phone for almost three months now and I'm happy with it. I did root it how ever to get rid of the preloaded apps that T-mobile installed. And the phone runs better and the battery lasts a-lot long. I've haven't had any issues with this phone and in my opinion it's a great phone to get if it's your first touchscreen smartphone. If your coming from a higher end phone don't buy this then because it's just not the same.

Giant upgrade from my old RAZR

I was looking for a new phone mostly just to make answering texts easier. As far as the OS goes, It does most everything that the larger, more expensive android phones do (more on that below). It's worked out great for me for podcasts (google labs), email (k-9), voice actions, navigation, FM radio, internet radio (tune in), GPS on the golf course (FreeCaddie). Is just ok for reading (maybe while waiting at the dentist, but can sync to current book -fbsync, fbreader). The sound is surprisingly good and watching videos on it isn't bad at all. With the 2.8" screen & slower processor, I use the mobile websites (Opera Mini) whereas I might use the regular sites (Opera Mobile) on the 4.3" screen phones. It also doesn't support flash, I haven't found that to be as much of a disadvantage on such a small phone (has youtube application built-in & install tubemate for storing videos) as I would have thought. With the size being so small, I found the default keyboard to be frustrating. It comes with swype, and there are also many other one-handed keyboards (MessagEase, Flit, 8pen, etc.). Once I spent the time to learn one of them (many hours, they have games), I'm much faster typing than my friends who hunt & peck on their larger phones. The $1.50 for a day of mobile data works out great (turn off wifi, turn on data, goto home.web2go.com in the built-in browser & ferret through the menus to my account and select Purchase Web DayPass) for me. I use it on travel for the built-in navigation and as a wifi hot-spot (just select Portable Wi_FI hostspot in settings). I'll never get ripped off for internet from a hotel again - in the US at least. This phone has a fairly active development community (type Huawei u8150 xda) if you want to replace the default ROM. I'm happy with the default ROM as their isn't much bloatware from T-Mobile. The main advantage would be overclocking & multi-touch. This seems to always be priced around a hundred at the Shack, so you need to price match/cross shop if you can.

    Android-No Contract Phone

The battery life of this phone is not the greatest but charges pretty fast. It only has a 2.8 touch screen which has been quite tricky to hit the right letter while typing. I can see how you may get better at it the longer you have had it but it is still a very small key board. I am a female in my mid 30's and I can say that I think I will return mine for a larger touch screen so I don't loose my mind. I see other no-contract phones that have a 3.2 screen and some contract phones that are a 4.3 sized screen. Other than the rinky dink screen size I love the features.

10min to create / add a new phone number !

Ok this is a great phone with lot of nice feature. But just to make a call it's a pain ( power on / unlock / satefy pin is an option / find the small phone / then dial ) . But the worst is to "WRITE" the keyboard is so small that it took me 10min to add a new contact. On my previous phone I had a watchtimer, chrono and countdown - NOTHING on this one. You may find it on the Google Apps store BUT you need to have a GMAIL.COM account. Next I will choose an Apple but - NO - I will go back to my old touch Keyboard style phone because I don't care of internet / GPS - just need to call my wife and say I love you.
