A lot of phone for an economical price. Love the MMS text feature to record voice versus translating speech to characters.

This is my first smartphone (believe or not), but I was impressed by the ease of its use. The camera is very good and the battery life is impressive; I have to charge much less frequently than my wife's Samsung phones (Galaxy S5 and S8). And the price was impossible to beat (got it on holiday weekend sale). The only slight downside (and it might not be a downside for some) is that the screen is very wide compared to other smartphones, at least compared to the Samsung Galaxies. The large screen is nice for when you are watching videos, but it takes up a lot of room in your pocket. For someone who is looking for a solid phone with a decent camera and long battery life, this is an excellent choice.

I don't want to write a long, gushing review here. I bought 1 for my wife and 1 for my daughter. I got a s7 edge for myself. Don't get me wrong, I like my s7 plenty. If I was buying new phones again...I would buy 3 moto z play. The battery life on these phones is phenomenal. My wife frequently goes DAYS without charging. My teenage daughter charges on average every other day. Camera takes really nice pics. Display is very good. Even without any of the moto mods, this is an excellent choice as a smart phone for anyone that wants/needs long battery life. The specs may not be up to flagship par, but we have seen no massive difference in performance that justifies spending twice as much on a flagship phone. Highly recommended.

Motorola has long been and always will be on the top since the inception of any communication device. The innovation of the Moto Z line is amazing with it's line of Moto mods. Moto enhancements makes this phone the most intuitive in the market. From Moto Display, to Moto Actions, to Moto Voice, the phone pretty much does everything for you. There's nothing out there like it. As for this review, the Moto Z play is an awesome phone. The camera does an amazing job as well. The reviews may say differently, but you do have to realize that these reviewers are so incredibly picky, that they lose the perception of how good cellphone camera's have become. The images from the Moto Z Play are sharp, crisp and the colors saturation is beautiful. Another feature is the battery in this phone is incredible. It can last up to 3 days! And, although it may not have the fastest processor, you wouldn't be able to tell by how incredibly fast the performance is and how it flies through multiple tasks, simultaneously! Thumbs up, Motorola. Always a "satisfied" customer. Can't wait to see what's next.

Before purchasing this phone, I previously owned the original Droid MAXX that came out a few years ago. So far I am really pleased with the phone. I bought it for the battery life, and it does not disappoint. It lasts me about 30-35 hours when not used constantly, which includes social media, maps, calls/text and browsing the web. It lasts less hours when gaming, but still more than other phones I've had. It comes with the wireless charging mod (since the phone has optional Moto mods you can snap onto its back), and a turbo charger that charges it to full in 1 1/2 hours. The phone's size takes some getting used to, especially from being used to the Droid MAXX (which is already a big enough phone). It runs really fast, which was a surprise; it comes with a few pre-loaded apps, but the option of uninstalling and disabling them is there. A thing to keep in mind is that it uses USB-C, so you can't just use any Android charger for it. It is reversible, so you can plug it in any which way, but I believe it is also a bit harder to find a second charger. It also has a fingerprint scanner as an alternate method for unlocking, but I haven't used it so I can't confirm if it works well or not. Overall, it's a solid phone, great battery life, fast charging; the screen looks great. It was a choice between this and the Z2 Play, but I don't think the Z2 has anything above this one, unless you take into account processor which is up to you. I decided to purchase this phone through Best Buy on account of it being way more expensive as an upgrade on the Verizon Store; if the Verizon store price has since changed I wouldn't know.

What I like in fragmented form: It's extremely fast & I love the shatterproof screen. I dropped it screen down on jagged bricks hard enough to knock off the magnetic back cover & not even a scratch on the screen. Miracle! The large screen is great for viewing. I love the 15 minute recharge & the type C charger. The battery lasts much longer than my Samsung Galaxy 4 but not the 24 hrs as advertised. That must be if you don't use it. I'm looking forward to using some of the attachments. With Android 7 it seems that all the apps work better. I'm understood better by the personal assistant. I like the finger scanner lock backed with the option of another method . It seems that the security is better than normal. Happily this phone has enough memory, space, & speed to run Microsoft apps. What I'm on the fence about: There weren't many apps & I had to search for & replace the standard music player, photo, calculator, & calendar apps. They were horrible. Very, very basic. I was surprised that the other apps we're mainly Google or Verizon. All of my other phones were generous with the apps & covered almost everything I needed. Moto needs to step up. I've found nothing to run the files I created with the Samsung apps. This is a big problem that I wish I'd considered. The large screen is tough on my hands & wrists. You'll have to retrain your muscle memory for typing bc it's spaced farther apart. The camera needs a manual. I was thrilled to buy the best Droid camera but furious when it wouldn't focus during my son's PhD graduation. (I almost returned the phone bc of this.) Overall I think mechanically I have a good phone. I realize I'll have to get used to a new brand & hope it doesn't take too long. It's past when I can return it so I'd better get used to it lol.

We needed new phones and tried the Moto Z Play instead of getting another Samsung. This phone has a very good camera and battery life. Downsides to this phone are: lack of accessories and phone size. You cannot get a case to protect the phone in stores and there aren't many options online. It is also bigger than I would like. Overall I am satisfied with this replacement phone.

This phone is by far the best phone I've ever owned! The turbo charger is an awesome feature! However this is the absolute first phone that the battery does indeed last me from 6 am until 10:30 pm without having to charge during the day and I'm an about video watcher, music player, games player, emailer and social media user fanatic. The camera takes extremely clear photos. The front face flash is really good as well! Just all around impressed with this phone!

I usually do not purchase or lease the newest phones out due to cost. I am a late adopter to technology even though I understand how to use the most current technology. That being said, this is a nice phone for under $20.00, gets very good reception. Motorola phones (even though Lenovo owns the handset business now) have always been great for making and receiving phone calls. This phone also works well on WIFI, and the battery life is excellent at 2 days with decent usage of all the phone features. I would recommend this phone to anyone who likes to have good call quality but is not a heavy user that thinks the newest technology at a lower cost value.

I have now bought three of these phones for my son. mother, and husband. The camera is awesome (better than mine on my iPhone 6), it has a gorilla glass durable screen, and is a great size (comparable to a Samsung Edge). For the price, this is an excellent option. Motorola has been a reliable company for years and I would highly recommend this product. Don't let the hype and popularity of other brands make you spend more when you can get a great phone like this one at a fraction of the cost. Very pleased with my purchases.

I did extensive research on this phone before purchasing and I have to say, I am glad I bought it. All of the reviews were spot on. Incredible phone and features. Love the clarity of the camera. The battery lasts for days (I don’t do extensive streaming, just normal phone/text use and internet browsing) and charges to full in as little as 20 minutes from almost dead. Perfect phone for my needs.

I've been living with the Moto Z Play for roughly a month now, and I love it. The screen is vibrant and responsive, and with it's zippy Snapdragon processor and 3GB of RAM, you'll have ample power to multitask and run the most demanding apps. I also love the Moto Notifications screen, which allows you to view notifications without having to fully fire up the phone, thereby saving battery power. Perhaps the best feature is the crazy long battery life. I'm a moderate-to-sometimes-heavy user and regularly get 4-5 days of battery life out of this phone. That's with Bluetooth and WiFi always turned on. When this phone warns you that there's only 15% of charge left, you still have HOURS of battery life remaining. Even better, when you finally do deplete the big honking battery in this beast, it only takes a super-fast 2 hours to fully recharge. All smartphones should be like this! I should also note that this phone has a very thin, premium design with all glass and metal construction. However, unlike most recent premium level phones, the Z Play still has an honest-to-God headphone jack, a major plus. It looks super-classy with the exchangeable back plates, which include wood, leather and cloth variants. If there is one negative, it's that the phone is very thin with semi-slippery sides, so I'm always worried about dropping it.

Having already had a Moto Z Droid, I knew what i was getting myself into. SImilar to the Z, the Play comes in a slightly lower powered form with a less powerful processor and less ram. But makes up for it 10x over with it's battery. The Play, well, it mocks most phones I've used and seen with it's battery life. The 3500 (?) mAh battery maintains a ridiculously long life, so much so that the same activities and uses I previously avoided if I didn't have a charger nearby I now do and will sometimes forgo charging my phone before bed. Two days. Seriously, two days of RL, constant texts, Snaps, and interwebs. Throw in a little Netflix and some youtube for the kiddo and yea... it's still going. The display, yea it's not the greatest/latest/flashiest but I can't tell. I'm not watching a Netflix show on my phone because it's the single most epic screen, no I'm watching it because I'm waiting on an appt, or I'm bored, and yea I'd like to be able to watch more than 20 minutes before my phone starts going dead. Biggest drawback...no Otterbox Commuter case. But the Moto Force box works just fine if I feel like giving up the headphones. And for that protection, sure I'll take that hit. 5/7 would do again.

This is my first Droid telephone. I was considering a Droid only after my grown son had suggested it because of his Droid phones being so dependable. In the past I have had Samsung smartphones and have always been pleased. I considered this phone as a purchase since it was on sale and was quite reasonable in monthly cost as in comparison to the other smartphones from Verizon and Best Buy. Initially I find that this phone is quite easy to navigate and can only hope that it will become as easy as the Samsung Galaxy phones I've had in the past. I'm certain that once I learn the shortcuts of this phone that it will become a very user-friendly device for me and my business. This Droid phone has excellent graphics and brightness to it. I also purchased from an online Merchant a very durable case called Zizo that complements this phone quite well and makes it very easy to stay clean and scratch free. This Droid device seems to have a very strong battery life even after a full day of use or when I'm not working and have gone through many YouTube videos or have streamed certain things. If all the Droid devices are this good and are always reasonably priced I find that it's only a matter of time before people start to realize that iPhone and Samsung have serious competition and are only used as a status symbol rather than there superiority over Droid. If this Droid does not fail me within the next two years I will be certain to look for the Next Generation once this phone has worn out. A couple of features that stand out with the Droid phone are the fingerprint recognition and the very bright icons on all screens. Certainly very beneficial features for a contractor who uses his device in all lights at all times throughout the day. I also appreciate that Moto does not put on tons of unnecessary apps built into the phone and leaves it to the buyer /user to add apps accordingly. Certainly a definite plus over the other two phone makers. Possibly giving this up to a 5-star rating once I learn the device completely. But for now right out of the gate a four stars because it is a very easy and dependable phone.

As usual, very happy with the build quality on this Moto. The camera is very clear and takes more than acceptable pictures. The battery lasts a solid two days, even under heavy use. Having moto mod capability is a plus, but not something I'll take advantage of right away. Pair this phone with the Incipio DualPro case, and you've got a winner.

My Droid Turbo was getting up in age and I was reluctant to take on another phone payment. At $10 amonths this phone is a steal. Battery last anywhere from 36 to 48 hours depending on how much I'm using it and the SD expansion slot means all my music and photos can stay on the device without running out of memory. Processor seems fast enough for me. Only complaint is the amount of bloat ware wverizon preload on it.

Even though Motorola is manufactured by Lenovo they have made sure that the core product is delivered at a minimal price. A very good phone with an awesome battery backup at a very reasonable price. Pros: Battery backup, screen size, ease of use, finger print scanner, headphone jack Cons: Bulky, lower hardware versions compared to other peers, thicker than it's peers like moto z Overall a good buy

This is by far the best performing phone when it comes to the battery life. 2 days with regular-moderate use easy And when it comes to user experience, it's very smooth and snappy device. No problems on day to day use. Useful Moto features , makes this phone complete package. Since you can buy 2 to 3 of these for a price of a :flagship" phone like Galaxy or iPhone, the area you will have to sacrifice on is the camera quality. With perfect light or outdoor daylight it's perfectly fine, but it will disappoint you in all other circumstances. It's not criminally bad, but just falls short. What makes this phone unique is the ability to connect to different Mods on it's back. I always carry a JBL speaker with a stand and extra battery pack (you can opt for 2200 mAh or even 3000 mAh) in case i need to snap it when we are out for a long time and taking a lot of photos and videos. Of course if the phone was fully charged in AM, there is no need for it, :) They even have a projector (woks great) for as a mod. All in all, this phone is a keeper. Benefit of this battery life is long term - as all Li-Po batteries lose capacity over time, having to go through 30-50 less of the charging cycles, it will take this phone easy into a 2nd year if not 3rd. The best value in this range for sure. Photo enthusiast should look elsewhere :)

    Moto Z doesn't Play...

Awesome phone. Before I begin, I'm an admitted Android nerd. It's the only phone I've ever owned. Big fan of Nexus 4, then 5, then of the Moto X 2014. I was very impressed with how clean and true Moto kept their Android OS and very much liked the features they added. When I heard of the Moto Z, I was intrigued, but my Moto X was still rocking albeit with some battery stamina issues. So when I lost my Moto X during a recent snow storm, I wasn't too upset over it, I got a chance to get the Moto Z I had my eye on. All the same things I liked about my Moto X are present, except now I have the added functionality of mods (have yet to purchase one, but some great ones are on the way) and of course BATTERY LIFE. Now I'm not getting the crazy 8hr screen time most are reporting, possibly because I'm an overnight charger. But I can squeeze 24 hrs out of this phone with a good 5-6 hrs screen time. That's just fine by me. It's snappy and handles all of the multitasking I can throw at it. Was concerned about the 5.5" screen. I thought 5.2 was the sweet spot, but I've adjusted just fine. The build quality of the phone is impressive and fairly tough. Only the nastiest of drops have made a mark on the metal frame around the phone. Very happy with the Moto Z Play. Oh and it charges very fast too. Highly recommend this phone.
