I use this for my Xbox One X and it works like a dream to store my additional games and saves! Well worth the purchase! Only warning, the cord is tethered to the drive and extremely short.

Device is unusable as secure storage for travel

Do yourself a favor and don't buy one if you care about your storage device being secured. THIS DEVICE HAS NO SECURITY AT ALL! This is a huge dissapointment from WD, a company I have come to trust until now. I have been using WD storage drives since 2010. I love the ability to password protect the drives I purchase from them. I opened the package on this one today in order to set it up for a secure backup and couldn't get the security software that comes with all WD drives to work. I updated the apps/software as instructed but still couldn't set a password to secure the drive. After contacting WD via phone I was told they would send me instructions for fixing the problem via email. Instead they sent me an email stating that their password security doesn't work on this drive. I am now stuck with a very expensive SSD drive custom designed "for travel" with NO ability to set even a basic password for data protection. After nearly ten years as a loyal WD customer, I am now done with all WD products. Best buy won't take returns on this item either. I don't blame Best Buy since the device was purchased in December with plans for use for travel in June. The device is also now opened so Best Buy can't be expected to eat the cost. I do hope Best Buy will note on their web page that this is not a securable device so they don't unwittingly support misleading advertising of this faulty product. This is a quote from the email WD sent me today. "I understand that you are facing issue while using the WD Security with My Passport Go SSD. I apologize for the incorrect information over the call. Please allow us to inform you that My Passport Go SSD is not compatible with WD Security application and will not work with this application. " They then told me to reply to the email with questions or to call the same number that gave me incorrect information before. I say again. DON'T Buy if you want the password protected security that previous WD storage devices came with. This device is not securable.

    Smallest and lightest drive EVER!!

I seriously couldn't believe how small and light this SSD was. It feels like they forgot to put the drive inside. With the cord conveniently attached and having its own groove to hold it in the back, this is most portable drive I have ever owned and I own close to 20 if not more. It comes with software for both Mac and Windows. I installed the Mac version but I don't think you need to, it just provides more options while using it. The 64 gb drive is a bonus but I am loving the small light form factor of the 1tb ssd. Super portable !! I would highly recommend.

This was an unexpected find - first, the SSD itself is remarkable. Easy to hold, easy to use, blazingly fast - and 1TB of storage! The included 64GB thumb drive is a delightful "added extra."

I like the physical size of this solid-state storage device as it is larger than a USB 'stick' and not easily lost. It is obviously light as it does not have a spinning disk, and the USB connector stows away nicely behind it and flush. The 500 GB size fits my needs and is a good value. I am buying several so I can save pictures in one, documents and other files in another, backup my laptop in yet another one. I wish it came in several colors so I can tell them apart, but it's just as easy to stick a label on it.

Very good hard drive. It's so small (size of the palm), sleek, fast and reliable. I was able to copy almost 3 GB of data in just under 30 seconds.. Love the hard drive. Drop protection is an advantage of SSD hard disk drive. Worth the money.

I needed an off-site backup for my pictures. This is small and easy to use. Backups are fast - really fast. I bring it home, back up Photos, take it back to work.

This is really the best accessory you can buy for a Xbox One X. Not only do you double your storage capacity, but you will be wowed on how much faster games will load now. Its a startling difference. I already had a 4 TB WD Passport drive for my Xbox so I only install the games I play the most on the SSD. The USB cable is very short and does not detach from the hard drive so you basically have to sit it right on top on the console. And you will hear the console fan spin up a lot more often while reading from this drive but it is nothing to be concerned with.

The drive works great, love the size and weight of the drive. However, it's hard to tell when it's working and difficult to do sporadic backups that take up a majority of the drive.

I was looking for a external, portable, SSD drive and found it at Best Buy on special. It was during the self harbor in the house, but they had a delivery system that worked very well. I was able to drive up, tell them the order information and drove off with my SSD drive. So far so good. I was able to pull what I needed onto the drive without issues and carry it to where I need to go. Good product, good promotion, good seller.

I am quite pleased with the speed and performance of both the Passport Go and the USB flash. Both drives have serve there respective purposes well. I would purchase again. Since I am updating at about the 6 week mark, the drives have been in light use primarily as transfer of files. The devices are as advertised and I am very pleased with them. However, this is the second time that I have posted a review for this product.

Ordering this online for store pick up, I assumed it would be as clunky as my older WD Passport external drive. Nope!! Un-boxing revealed a palm sized wonder. This device is quiet, and small with a huge capacity. Transfer speed is average, but can easily be overlooked. Data cord is short, but a simple USB extension cord will do. If you see it on sale....BUY IT!!

Just used it today for the first time, drive downloaded quickly and for a change because its an SSD drive...no moving parts. I have already lost three back up usb drives to disc failure. Looking forward to a bigger and better future with this one.

Great external drive. Works as an external drive should. Very compact, footprint is probably about 25% larger than a business card. Short USB cable that is hardwired in only about 6" or so, keep that in mind if you have things tucked away.

I have a WD external that is not solid state but purchased this for a higher level of reliability. For very important info or photos I would suggest the solid state. Both are easy to use and I am certainly not a tech genius.

I like it so far Very light and small. The reason I bought this was that another WD external drive which was a regular one (not an SSD) crashed and I am not able to access my data on that anymore. I hope this problem doesn’t happen to this SSD drive. It’s very expensive though
