Hidden Gem - Premium feel - Best Unlock Bargain
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony did an amazing job at setting the bar really high for the economic market. This is an amazing phone with premium everything, unlocked and affordable at $250 on sale. The best option being offer right now. Basically what Sony has done is to give you a taste of their Z3 premium product with just one missing part, the speed / performance. Everything else is present. Huge 6 inch screen. You become spoil by all the real state real quick, but it is not for everyone. Such a huge screen is more for the office guys, texting from your desk etc. This is not a one hand operation phone, this is definitely not the phone to text and drive, almost impossible, you literally need both hands to operate a machine this size. The plastic built and the size of the phone makes it a bit fragile, definitely not for those who work outdoors, etc. it does bend and you could damage it by sitting on it when you have it on your back pocket. Motorola did a better job of squeezing a 6 inch screen on a much smaller body with much better ergonomics. Continuing with the design, the buttons layout are bad, make no sense. The power button looks more like a camera shutter release, the actual camera shutter button looks like a power button, and the volume rocker is so short that can also be confused with power button. Then the power plug and headphone plug on each side of the top side corners of such a wide phone, makes those cables stick out in a way that makes it difficult to operate the phone when connected and also you could damage the plugs, not smart design. Last but not least with the design issues is the sim card slot, it is made to fail, this is not the phone to be swapping sim cards, one of the metal pins eventually fail and made the phone useless, would not read the sim card anymore. Design conclusion, it is a fragile phone not only by its size, but also by design. This is not the phone to take a beat down or to be use by people who doesn't treat their equipment with care. I took a trip to Florida with this phone and tried to use it on the really fun Fiat 500 that I rented but the car would not read the memory card full of music I had on this phone. The Fiat had no problem reading my iPhone 5. But this is not a Sony issue, this is just an Android problem, that makes Apple looks really good, Apple products function and works as designed when you must needed, so I had fun on the Fiat 500 controlling my iPhone. Kudos to Apple! Moving on to the POSITIVE... Visual... Beautiful high definition screen but with some what bland colors, is like a meal that has good flavor but is lacking some kick, salt or spice :) But the lack of contrast actually makes the screen really easy on the eyes, it is a delight to read my Kindle collection of books on this phone because the size and how beautiful and sharp the screen is. Sound... Wonderful HIFI sound from this device and you don't even need to download a music app because the included Sony Walkman music app is wonderful, great sound effect and plenty of options and customization. The phone produces good volume. I did notice that the phone does have issues with compressed music files, the same files that sounds fine on my hTC desire, on the Sony sound with all the sparks of an old record, very annoying. Also, this phone has more trouble the most other phones connecting to new bluetooth devices. At times I had to delete all other previously connected devices in order for the phone to sync with a new introduced bluetooth speaker. Battery.... The best battery I ever seen or experience. This phone would take a constant punishment of usage and the battery just won't give up, really last a long time. I think for a regular user this phone could easily last between 1.5 to 2 days with one charge. Kudos for the stamina setting included that further the battery even more without making the phone useless, must functions remain the same but it helps conserve battery. The battery also charges really fast, 4 hours from 10% to 100%. User Interface.... Sony did a good job with their implementation of Android. This phone allows for so much customization that are actually useful to me the user, I was able to setup this phone exactly how I liked it. I was not too keen on Sony launcher so I downloaded the Nova Launcher and that made the user inter face just perfect. This phone has all the bells of the Samsung note, the one handed keyboard, access to the notification bar from the bottom of the screen. I really like all the settings available by Sony to improve on all the lacking of Android, well done. Some people like phones that provide native Android experience because of the lack of bloat, but then you also miss out on all the unique and cool tools that a company like Sony includes. Must of what Sony included I found really useful, but yes the phone felt bogged down by all the extra stuff that Sony added. But now that I am using a native Blu Phone, I am missing most of what Sony spoiled me with... Go figure! Keyboard... I actually found it very easy to type on the supplied keyboard with minimal errors and no need for anything else. Good customization, good options, good layout of the texting real state. The only issue I had was selecting text and just editing text in general, not accurate selection and just a weird implementation. Camera... It actually has a good camera that is only limited by the over processing of the software. Sometimes I was able to get less processed images by the use of some of the filters included but those filters also added color hues, but at least gave me more image detail and sharpness. Overall I was happy with the look of the images I took with this phone. My iPhone camera has less options but it is light years better in terms of being smart on its on by producing better results, but compared to all other budget phones on the market, including the BLu, Moto G, Galaxy Mini, etc, this phones produces much better image results. The only issue with the camera is how slow it is to load up, to focus and most times it doesn't focus well at infinity. Your macro shots will be in focus but your landscape shots will not. Performance... So Sony gave us a sample of all the good that they can offer on this budget phone, but with a catch. The more you load this phone with all the apps that you use and love, the worse this phones it gets with speed. The phone is always drawing a blank with everything you ask. Even to open the text app takes a while. Connectivity.... I connected with a ATT sim card from Straight Talk and I always had good signal and fast LTE speeds. I did have issues receiving MMS messaging but that was a setting issue, I just didn't research how to correct it. Conclusion.... We all get very exciting with these new generation of budget unlock phones, but they always missing something that makes them useless and every disappointing in many ways. Most other manufacturer are choosing the route of enticing you with beautiful large screens on budget phones, but the rest of the phone is useless. Sony took a different approach, they gave you a taste of all the premium features so you can discover what it is to ride inside of a Mercedes Benz cabin and all the accommodations, but with the engine of a scooter under the hood.

Comes with a Discount in Quality as well!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The phone is just awesome in hands. Pros: The camera is at its best for the price and so is the sound quality. The best battery indeed. Design and bigger screen size Cons: Terrible Call Quality, unable to hear much of the conversation. Performance. 1 GB is very low for the Android era!! Sony's customized menus and Apps really lags compared to Samsung or HTE/LG

pretty cool phone!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.obviously the first thing to come to mind when looking and holding the phone is the size, its got amazing characteristics to help with the size, and one heck of a display! the tech has a "one handed" mode to allow ease of access so you do not have to use both hands to execute vital functions leaving you able to drink your coffee, browse, read..etc ;) the display itself is vibrant, stunning, crisp, clear, bright and fully customizable. the only downside initially is how skinny the phone is, making it lighter than any other phone I've owned while also having a factory claimed resistance to water so i purchased an aftermarket water/shock/dust proof case made by love mei. i also have an iPhone 5 for a work phone and this phone kicks its but hands down, its got more features than i even know what to do with, took about 2 hours total to set up from start to finish-including downloading all my aftermarket apps-syncing them/looging in, setting up my display pages and layers, the battery has been equally impressive considering the size and beauty of the display and its processing capabilities... so far the longest I've ran without charging it with normal use/ and internet browsing was nearly 3 full days! wifi running 24/7, including my son playing his apps here and there. overall i love the phone, excellent battery, display simply...-has no equal, interface is almost too user friendly, and i hope that with the new case it protects the phone in its entirety and makes it virtually indestructible... for one you cant beat this price for anything else on the market, and id bet this phone is better than 90% of the popular majority, and being out the door for 200$ no contract (micro sim, if you have a reg sim, cut it down to fit... you will not be disappointed!)
