A bit of a downgrade from the first but just a bit
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Movie: Almost right up there with the first. ————————————Pros————————————— (Picture) Look impressive on a well calibrated OLED, 4k upscale via Oppo. (Sound) Grateful for Atmos on Blu since UHD is unavailable & was superb on a well calibrated 7.2.4. Lots of great height realist action & 360 panning surround scenes. Lenticular Slipcover. ————————————Cons———————————— Was unnecessarily stretched out too long and as a result lost its momentum towards the middle after the over exposure of the old man & it’s weak CGI character. No Digital Copy. No 4K. Wishes: 4K release.

Thrilling Follow-Up Equal to the First
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the things I really appreciated about The Conjuring was that director James Wan (Saw, Insidious, Furious 7) didn't approach the film as if it were a horror film, but more a serious drama about a family in crisis. With this sequel Wan has created a similarly framed film, but this time with more emphasis on the aspect that allows him to continue this franchise without the majority of the principle characters from the original. In being able to utilize Ed and Lorraine Warren (played once again by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) and their vast catalog of paranormal encounters Wan has basically created a formula for which he can produce numerous sequels based on the most interesting case files of these demonologists. As long as Wilson and Farmiga are willing to return there is no reason as to why we won't be witness to several more Conjuring films. This doesn't seem to be the hidden intent of the filmmaker though as he is clearly fully engulfed in the present and in the responsibility of not only respectfully bringing the Warrens' stories to life, but those of the victims involved in these cases. With The Conjuring 2 Wan tackles what is known as the "Enfield poltergeist". Set in 1977, this sequel is loosely based on when the Warrens traveled to north London to help a single mother and her four children escape their house that was plagued by malicious spirits. In classic Wan fashion, The Conjuring 2 is beauty of a horror film. As breathtaking in its visual grandeur as it is frightening in its moments of horrific ecstasy. At a runtime of nearly two hours and fifteen minutes this is an epic of sorts in the horror genre, a full-on deep dive not only into what makes people afraid of the dark, but into the characters, the people that are believed to have experienced such events and how they deal with such trauma in as human and as logical a fashion as can be hoped for. The Conjuring 2 is a slow burn of character development paired with a surplus of seeming proof and doubt as to what is really going on. Plaguing his film with confusion and integrating the Warrens all the more vitally, Wan has created a horror film that, while not necessarily transcending the genre, is certainly the closest thing we've had to a film redefining the genre since its predecessor.

Horror in Atmos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since a kid i love horror movies but now today you really can get immerse in with new Technology of surround sound that takes you from looking at the TV to feeling you forgot your in the house. That what I felt as this Disc is a Dolby Atmos sound track with object base movement from my 7.2 yamaha system with Polk speakers sounded amazing. The ghost left the speakers and surround me all around including above. The movie is also base on true encounters which made it more creepy. Good acting incredible detail picture wonderful Dolby Atmos soundtrack I love this movie. Would also like to point out if you really want to enjoy a horror movie watch as I do at night by yourself in 7.2 surround sound.

Great Sequel!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am really picky with my horror movies. I prefer things with ghosts, demons, and otherworldly creatures. Slasher flicks are NOT my idea of "horror". This movie, a sequel to the Conjuring, reminds me that being a kid can be scary. The story is in the UK, so for those not familiar with the time period, clothing style, and the accents, you may be confused. Otherwise, this will be a creepy adventure you wont forget! The music continues to set the atmosphere and keeps the action going. They also added an even creepier character (The Crooked Man), which I can see them making a spin off story about as well as the evil Nun. You feel so bad for the characters as the children get bullied for things out of their control. I LOVE that in the special features the girls that went through the haunting were reunited with Lorraine Warren. I will watch this time after time and I can't wait for the next one to come out! They seem to like outdoing themselves and I want this to continue!

Another haunted house
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second movie with the Warrens called into investigate strange activity in a house involving demons or ghosts. This is suppose to be another real life experience and its pretty spooky if anyone lived thru it. I like this DVD or BluRay disc as it has extras into the making of the movie and discusses the story with some of the real people who lived the real story. I'd like to believe some of the events might have been hyped by hollywood but i'll give them the benefit of the doubt. No doubt this will keep your interest and on the edge of your seat as it does get pretty intense towards the ending. If you like movies about the dead being stuck earthbound and in the place they died then this is the movie for you.

The Horror!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are easily scared, this is not for you. This film features what is perhaps one of the most terrifying characters in recent horror film history. It will take you a while to get that image off your head. The horror feels very real as the characters suffer the struggles and aftermath of a very close encounter with a most diabolical being. Vera Farming is impeccable and Patrick Wilson is her perfect match. A must see for supernatural horror films fans.

More True Stories From The Warren's
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I enjoyed THE CONJURING with it's fact based Warren's leading the story. With the premise of another Warren's story I figured it would be another good ride. I have to say the story was so intriguing I looked it up after I watched the movie. It's got some stupid points (basement filled with water) but overall the story and acting worked well. The blu has extras which allows you to meet the 'girls' which gave it a more true base. The surround was good, the picture quality was good and I know I will watch this again along with the original in the near future.
