Very Interesting!

More than just your average zombie movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Girl With All the Gifts is more than a "zombie" movie...in fact, some zombie fans might argue, like they did with "28 Days Later" (2002) and "Dawn of the Dead" (2004), that these zombies are in fact, NOT zombies, because they run fast. Well, I don't care, personally. If they are the undead and they eat human flesh, they're zombies. Anyway, this story takes place after a fungus-like plague has turned most of humanity in "Hungries" (what everyone calls them) or zombies. In Britain, the Army has managed to lay hold of a group of children who are a hybrid of normal humans and Hungries. The children are kept under restraint and taught in a class by Helen (Gemma Arterton), an Army teacher, who treats the children with respect and compassion, especially Melanie (Sennia Nanua), who is seemingly the most intelligent and evolved of all the children. But Sgt. Parks (Paddy Considine) is not happy with the situation with the children. Especially when he's got thousands of adult Hungries gathered outside the Army base fence, trying to force their way in. Also, there's Dr. Caldwell (Glenn Close) who has been taking some of the children away to cut up to try to find a vaccine for the remaining humans on Earth. When she turns her attention to Melanie, Helen is not pleased at all and tries to stop her. But it's at this time when the Hungries overrun the base and a small group including those listed above are forced to flee. They head for London and hopeful human contact but have to wend their way through thousand upon thousands of Hungries. Melanie proves invaluable in helping them as she's not in danger from the Hungries, but there is a danger of her slipping into a zombie state. The team have to use a human odor-blocking salve to keep Melanie in a calm state. This is a wonderful movie if you can use that term to describe a zombie movie. It has a lot of heart and soul, but there is plenty of zombie action for fans. But this is a unique horror/drama with a very touching ending. Much recommended, especially for fans of the genre.

Not normal zombie movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is not an action zombie film. It has some action in it but it's more about the characters and how they relate to the little girl. She is a second generation infected but she has thought and reason. Besides the urge to feed when she's hungry she's a sweet, normal little girl. You care for her but when she's feeding you can sense the danger. The little girl actress was very, very good. If you don't expect a resident evil shoot them up this is a great zombie film to get into.

A Different Zombie Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Zombie infections in the next generation. Truly "gated" communities with US Troops for security. A little girl who eats dead cats. A doctor who wants to find a cure and a teacher (the kids still go to school, locked in their chair-desks) who wants to save the girl, except, as they say, 'the girl can't help it!' Will the girl live, will the still-humans? Watch it. But keep an eye on your own kids!

Not your typical Zombie film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never even heard of this film until I was checking on what was scheduled to be released on Tuesday. Watch the online trailer for the film and became very interested. I've always loved zombie films...but the genre has been flooded with "hordes" of films that are subpar or either suffers from poor production values. This particular film is very well produced, has great acting, a wonderfully weird soundtrack, and the story was great. There is an interesting twist at the end of the film that I wasn't quite expecting too. I've recommended the film to a few of my friends and most of them enjoyed it as well. Definitely worth checking out if your into this genre and your tired of seeing the same ole stuff.

Surprisingly good!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn’t expecting much of this movie since I’d gotten it for $9.99 while on sale. Plus am not really into watching zombie movies but this turned out to be refreshingly so different & ended up loving this movie! Others don’t seem to understand the ending but I thought the ending was epic if you remember what she says earlier in the movie! Had bought 2 movies that day. The other costed $14.99. After watching both movies I had to lie to myself & convince myself that I’d payed $14.99 for this movie & $9.99 for the other movie because the other movie was terrible! That other movie should’ve been $9.99. Not this movie.

The G with the G's
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought this was going to be a fairly common "zombie" flick but it had Gemma Arterton so I thought I'd give it the once over. It was well acted and well produce, and had a nice little twist at the end with a philosophic challenge Senna Nunua posed to Glen Close and her resulting actions! 2nd review... so I copied the 1st here again???
