Looks Cool, Works Great
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've only had this OTR Microwave for a month, but so far, all is well. It is incredibly quiet when running...quieter than any other microwave I've ever heard!! This unit replace a high-end Samsung that died after about 8 years....which itself was a replacement to an earlier high-end Whirlpool, that was a service nightmare. We are hoping that Whirlpool learned a lot in the last 8 years, and have built a much more reliable unit. So far, along with being quiet, it cooks quickly and accurately (specifically with the sense capability). We've also noticed its defrost feature is extremely good. We tossed in a pound and a half of totally frozen ground turkey (defrost\meat\by weight), and it came out perfectly defrosted, with no partially cooked/brown edges, which is typical in this scenario. We've used the convection feature a few times, and it performed as it should. After doing a lot of research on similar products, this Whirlpool is in a class by itself. Pretty much every other make/model that we reviewed did not have all of the features of this model (just finding one with convection is tough, these days), or was smaller in size (others maxing out at 1.7 Cu Ft.). Along with all of the cooking features on this microwave, one of the huge draws for us was the clean, no handle front. Although this model may be a bit two square in design for some people, it fits perfectly with our Dacor range, which has totally straight lines as well. ...and no, I did not get paid for this review.

Very disappointed.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can understand why this microwave gets good reviews because the features are great but after only 2 yrs the plastic started to deteriorate and left the panel door vulnerable to moisture from cooking to enter the control panel which caused it to malfunction. We had a repair person out that said we had to replace the door which was almost as much as we paid for the it. Best Buy would not stand by this product because we didn't purchase the extended warranty so decided to purchase a whole new one that will not match the stove but won't pay for a product that doesn't last longer than 2 yrs!

So Far, So Good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, so good, I am enjoying this convection microwave. This is my second convection microwave. This one is much quieter, and the exhaust works even better. I love that it sends me a notification to my Apple Watch that lets me know when the cycle is complete as I can’t hear the microwave from other rooms like the previous model. The interior is easier to clean, and I love the steam function. The steaming basket was an accessory that came with the microwave. My favorite thing to cook using the convection oven and microwave simultaneously are sweet potatoes. They turn out well carmelized and sugary sweet after an hour. My only peeve is to do multi step cooking is not as intuitive as my previous model which only required the same one button being pressed. However, the plus side to this new system is that I can add a third stage which I couldn’t do before.

Cinnamon rolls in microwave/convection
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our family is enjoying this microwave and also the convenience of the convection. We made some cinnamon rolls on a plate that were perfect and we didn’t have to use the stove and just a plate that was simple to clean. I like that it does not have a handle, last microwave we had the door handle broke.

Door broke
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After year and a half door broke with plastic pieces falling off of inside of the door. We can not use the Microwave since keypad errors out now and Microwave is sensing that door is open even when it is closed. Whrilpool was adamant about sending a service man for just diagnosis, which most definitely cost half the price of new door for just looking at it. Door itself is half the price of the microwave (you do the math). I am baffled by the cheap parts used in this product and whirlpool is not standing behind there product. It only came with 1 year limited manufacture warranty and I guess microwave is useless after little over an year. I advice everyone to either get extended warranty from Best buy for this product or stay away from Whirlpool.

Great microwave
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to replace the microwave that came with my house when it went bad. I opted for the convection microwave instead of a regular over the stove one because of the amount of power needed for small things compared to using my oven. This thing works great. A little on the hard side when first figuring out all the options. I do not have it connected to the wifi and probably never will. This microwave is great for steaming veggies with the enclosed steamer. Kids love how their brocolli turns out. Using the convection side of the oven does great for making garlic bread and toasting sandwiches. Overall, a good investment if you need to replace your microwave!

Q: QuestionIt’s funny, but can’t find start button. Where is it?
Asked by Kartal.
- A:Answer We had the same problem at first glance so do not feel bad - it is the sideways triangle that is pointing to the right located on the right side of the touch pad. It may say something like +30 under it. once you press this button the microwave starts and if you press again it adds 30 seconds. The dishwasher also uses this symbol for start. If this is made in America I am surprised it just does not just say start, but I guess that is too logical. This reminded us of the "start" button of a 1980's cassette player!

Q: QuestionDo you need outside venting for this unit

Q: QuestionAre the convection baking and microwave cooking features separate? Can I cook with JUST convection bake and JUST microwave?
Asked by baker75.
- A:Answer Baker75, you can ONLY use this as a microwave OR as an oven at any one moment. It does not use both types of heating simultaneously during a single cooking “start”, nor does ANY 120volt over-the-range microwave model. To really do fan and both microwave and convection at once, and well, any oven would need more power. At 120v (standard microwave outlet plug) the fan, mwave, and convection would need to cycle on and off anyway (which is what the Kitchrnaid does when it claims to “speed cook”. Not that speedy since it’s really cutting microwave on and off with low power.) We have preheated, then microwaved a half chicken for 3 minutes at 70% power, then finished by convection with this. Very pleased. Would buy again.

Q: QuestionHow do I open the door , looked but didn’t see nothing. Thank you
Asked by LadyInRed.
- A:Answer My door doesn't lock. Just pull open from side with fingertip slot on side of door. It automatically stops running when pull it open. I believe there is an icon tab that will lock but I've never used it.

Q: QuestionWe have an older Whirlpool microwave / convection unit that takes forever (over 35 minutes) to preheat to 400 degrees for convection use. How long does this new model take to preheat to 400 degrees?
Asked by ChuckT.
- A:Answer Under 5 minutes

Q: QuestionDoes the clock show brightly? Last Whirlpool microwave you could barely see it....
Asked by GoSpeed.
This question was asked about the related product: Whirlpool - 1.9 Cu. Ft. Convection Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking - Black Stainless Steel
- A:Answer It shines bright enough to see across a lit room and at night is visible from a few rooms away. It shows as white numbers. You do need to be in direct line of site to see it. From angles, you cannot tell time, there is just a little glow.
