Inexpensive / Color Adj. Didn’t Improve Images
|Posted .Key Features 1920 x 1080 Full HD Resolution AMD FreeSync Compatible 1 HDMI 1.4 Input 1ms VRB (Visual Response Boost) SET-UP The monitor comes well packaged and protected. Installation is simple and straightforward. Assembly involved nothing more than tightening 1 screw and snapping the base into the monitor. Note, that this monitor does use a proprietary Acer mount on the back and not the standardized VESA compatible mounts others use. Thankfully, Acer did provide threaded mounting holes for a compatible VESA mount, but neither the VESA mount or mounting screws were included. From unboxing to use took about 2 minutes (it took longer to tidy up my cables than assemble and connect the monitor). INITIAL IMPRESSIONS AND DETAILS The monitor has a total of 2 inputs, 1 VGA and 1 HDMI. Nothing more. There are no provisions for DisplayPort, USB, nothing. That is a sore omission for me, as with my previous Dell monitor, I used its built-in USB hub for my keyboard, mouse, and any thumb drives I may want to plug in. Those extra USB ports were a welcome addition and are sorely missed. The lack of vertical height adjustment is also a bummer. While this monitor does tilt, its height is fixed. While not a deal breaker, the ability to adjust the height of a monitor is a nicety. USE Overall picture quality of the display is good, especially at this price point. I am not a fan of Acer’s Super Sharpness enhancement (it is like an old school sharpness control). I find it just adds undesired artifacts to images. Luckily, this feature can be quickly and easily disabled. Text is clear and legible. However, Windows 10 cannot recognize this display by default and only reads it as a Generic PnP monitor. Even drivers downloaded directly from Acer don’t provide Windows with the necessary files to properly identify the display. Luckily Windows can get enough information via the HDMI connection that it does know the resolution and refresh rate capabilities. I can get a 74.973Hz refresh rate that is flicker free. This Acer monitor is compatible with AMD Freesync which allows the monitor to match the refresh rate of the graphics card, helping to eliminate tearing. But, gamers need to take note that this is only a 75Hz monitor, so those super high framerate refreshes are not this monitor’s cup of tea. Acer did put a blue light filter on this monitor, and they did some nice work getting the monitor to dim in a dark room. These two features are a nice and thoughtful feature that can make a difference for late night WFH sessions. It really does help relieve eye strain. NEGATIVES 1. My biggest gripe with this monitor is its lack of accurate color reproduction. While the monitor has a total of 8 different viewing modes, sadly none of them can get the color temperatures very close. While I was able to achieve a near perfect D65 color temperature, the colors quickly diverge and the monitor’s color temperature becomes cooler and cooler, as can be seen in the results from my calibration. 2. There-in lies my 2nd gripe. The monitor has numerous options to fine tune the display to your liking. Between the numerous presets and gamma tweaks, etc. there are options galore. However, none of them seem to work other than the presets. I spent a great deal of time trying to tweak the monitor’s tendency to err towards blue, but no matter what I did in the Gain and Bias adjustments (or as Acer calls it: six-axis color adjustment) mattered in the measurements. You could see the display menu change, but the image being projected on the screen did not change in any way. No matter what I turned on, off, or changed improved the accuracy of the image. CONCLUSIONS This is a nicely priced monitor. It offers just as many, if not more, options as its competitors at a price that undercuts many of them. What has me concerned, as I don’t have any similarly priced competitors to compare this monitor to, is did Acer cut too many corners to achieve their price point? For example, this is the first display (monitor or TV) that I’ve ever calibrated where the color controls don’t make any measurable difference in image reproduction. I also really miss those USB ports on the side of my Dell monitors. They are just super handy to jab a thumb drive into without the need to go over to your desktop. But, as a trade-off you do get a super narrow bezel on the sides and top. It is attractive and modern looking. In the end, I have to give the monitor just 3 stars, an average rating. Even with the average rating, I would recommend this monitor for someone who just needs a decent display with a tight budget. As far as value goes, this Acer is a good value. You get a lot of features (even though some didn’t make any difference) and performance for the money. The blue light filter and ability to get nice and dim make for easier marathon work sessions. However, if your needs require a monitor for more than the basics like emails, Word docs, etc. I would advise looking for a monitor with a more accurate display, a fuller feature set, or a higher refresh rate if you are a gamer.

Solid Gaming Monitor
|Posted .I wanted to run a full size monitor from my ASUS ROG 16” gaming laptop and this Acer sounded like a good candidate. It did not disappoint. It’s sharp and clear and adds about 7” from my laptop screen. I also like the thin bezel in case I want to add another one. It ran all my games crisp, clean and smooth and doesn't take up a lot of room on my desk top. What else can you ask for in this price range. The only down side is my ASUS ROG 16” has such an awesome monitor that I’d really have to go high end on a monitor to get the same result. If you want bigger the Acer Nitro 27” is also a great choice. Solid monitor.

Entry Level Gaming Monitor You'll Appreciate
|Posted .--- SETUP --- The setup for the Acer monitor required little effort. Being 24 inches, it isn’t heavy to carry. I used the protective cover sleeve it came in to set it flat on a small table, connected the base and stand, plugged in the power cord and the included HDMI cable, and then carried it over to my gaming computer room. --- FEATURES --- Full HD resolution at 1080P, 75Hz refresh rate, 1ms VRB, and AMD Radeon FreeSync technology. It includes an HDMI 1.4 port and a VGA port. --- PERFORMANCE --- This little monitor can do wonders for your gaming experience. Though many games support resolutions higher than 1080P, not everyone has a beast of a computer to run them. In the gaming world, you want a monitor that will give you a nice 1080P resolution with 60 FPS or higher. In comes this ACER monitor for great visuals, nice deep blacks, and a smooth gaming experience. --- EXPECTATIONS --- The monitor itself is great for gaming. I tried older games like the newly remastered Quake and it was able to keep up with the frantic multiplayer happening. I then tried it with a slower but more graphic intensive game, Mortal Shell. The game was simply a beauty to look at. My computer has 2 AMD graphics cards, so I was able to turn on the AMD Freesync. Doing so allowed me to have a smoother game experience while playing my game, but I do turn that feature off for multiplayer to get the max FPS possible. I also connected this monitor to my Xbox Series X. Though it is only a 1080P monitor, older Xbox One X games that have received an FPS boost showcase really well on this screen. I intended on playing Fallout 4 for a few minutes to test it, but I was enjoying the experience so much, I sat for a whole 3 hours. Some things I feel this monitor would benefit from is a display port or a second HDMI port. Most gamers I know have their gaming PC and at least one console. Though there is a VGA port, that’s not something gamers use. Another thing I’d like to see is the ability to tilt the monitor, even if it is just a small up and down adjustment. --- VALUE --- For the price, your games will look great at 1080P with 75 FPS. --- APPROVAL --- This is an excellent entry level gaming monitor for any computer setup. If you don’t plan on streaming or having a multiple monitor setup, this would make a great go-to monitor.

Excellent, high value, entry level monitor
|Posted .This is about as simple of a set-up as you are going to get for a monitor. The stand goes together in minutes, and you could use a coin to tighten it. No tools are required unless you want to vesa mount it. Which is something this does provide. The specifications may say this is not wall mountable, but it does have that feature. Monitor settings are easily navigated with the buttons tucked in and around on the left-back side of the monitor. Using the provided stand you can tilt this up and down but not left and right which requires moving the base as well. I was able to push this monitor to it’s limit of 1080p 75Hz output using my personal computer. Modern games at max settings were looking gorgeous. Just flawless and fluid. The results were super consistent and enjoyable. (PC Specs bellow) Where this unit will shine is in a close dorm setting or for a first PC build monitor where you don’t want to spend a significant amount of money on a monitor. I could have used this very monitor all the way through college. It is very much an entry level monitor but the value I put on this is rather high given what it offers and, as odd as this may sound, considering the current state of graphics card prices and availability. Nice monitor. Easy on the eyes.
|Posted .I am a hard core gamer/computer user. I am on the computer for extended hours. Having a nice monitor that does not strain your eyes is an absolute must. This Acer screen has some type of polarization on it to where it is not as bright and cuts glare pretty good. So it helps with eye strain. Only bad thing is that if you move too much up and down it will cut the image. Just position in the relative same spot and you should be good. Graphics quality is really good. I streamed 4K flawlessly. I pushed it with 8K and I think my PC sputtered. So no fault of Acer. Game play was great. No latency issues. Colors looked nice and warm. Size is great proportionally for 16:9. Setup took 15 seconds. Snap together and 1 screw. Either VGA or HDMI inputs. Power cable and you are all set. Would highly recommend this product. Nice job Acer.

Worth Every Penny
|Posted .I used to just game on my laptop, but after playing on this screen, I'm spoilt( That's a word. Trust me).It has a near invisible bezzel and the colors look amazing, for a FHD screen. 250 nits give off a beautiful display. I can't wait to do some film editing on it. The problem is, there's only one HDMI port and no speaker port. I would think that if you're planning on gaming on a PC, you've already got a nice speaker system, running from your tower and no need for an extra HDMI port. Honestly, for the asking price, this is a great moniter. Thanks to my little personal qualms, I can't give it 5 stars, but I would definitely recommend this to friend. 24" moniters are really the sweet spot for gamers, go ahead and put this in your cart. And don't forget to game on.

Q: QuestionI bought this monitor for my xbox and was wondering how i would go about getting sound to play
Asked by Gamerdude.
- A:Answer You would need external speakers, as it's just a screen. For my ps4, it's no problem for me, as I just plug a headset into the controller, but I don't know if it's the same for xbox.
