A:AnswerNo, this sound bar will turn on automatically when the TV is turned on. It can also be turned off automatically after a period of inactivity or when the TV is turned off.
A:AnswerMy husband has hearing problems, has to wear two hearing aids, and the Bose has helped me tremendously in hearing what is on TV - concerning the base - it's excellent, sometimes when I am upstairs and hear the TV, all I hear is the base, have to come downstairs to ask him to turn it down "a little." :) You won't be disappointed in a Bose. We have had a Bose radio for years and have always been satisfied with it. Happy Hearing!!

A:AnswerHi DrScope,
Thanks for the question. The Solo 5 uses an IR remote and will not work through walls or doors.
Hope that helps.
Take care,

A:AnswerIt seems like there are four total. Two directionals on the front, and stereo subs pointing out of the back. BIG sound from such a small device though, I am very satisfied.
A:AnswerHi Dave,
Thank you for your question. The Solo 5 TV Soundbar is engineered as a standalone speaker, and does not currently support additional components such as a bass module. You can increase the bass response of the soundbar by using these buttons on the remote: https://bose.life/2tuQgRX. We hope this helps! Have a great day.

A:AnswerHello, Joyce.
Thank you for your question. We're glad to help! If you are primarily looking for a speaker for your TV, the Solo 5 TV Soundbar would be a fantastic choice. With one button on the remote, you can enable the system's "dialogue mode," which is engineered specifically to enhance the clarity of vocals.
We also think you would enjoy the Bose Hearphones™ Conversation-Enhancing Headphones. This is a wireless headset that enhances the volume and clarity of all sounds around you, and they don't need to be connected to your TV. This product is incredible for hearing friends in a loud restaurant or listening to live music. This headset can also help you hear the TV, and the other people in your home can listen to the TV at their desired volume at the same time. Please check out the Hearphones at this link: https://bit.ly/2IrTpgV. We hope this helps! Have a great day.

A:AnswerRoom size will certainly play a factor, but I use it in my living room and I think it does an awesome job. Very balanced sound at low levels and once you turn it up a bit the sound fills the room very nice! I definitely recommend starting with this one if you are thinking of others and go from there. Definitely a benchmark piece.
