  • QuestionDoes it require a c wire?

    Asked by jack.

    • Answer It does not. That is the main reason for purchasing this model. It figures how much it can draw from the heating or cooling wires before it trips. It uses that draw to power the thermostat. There is also a battery to make up any extra that's needed. I change the battery every eight years just because eight years has passed, not because I needed to. It works best if you have both heating and cooling capabilities, so it can draw from either. The older the furnace, the better, as it takes more to trip on heating or cooling.

  • QuestionCan this run on battery only?

    Asked by Mike.

    • Answer Hi Mike, thank you for your question about our Sensi Smart Thermostat. The batteries are meant as a backup if your thermostat cannot get power from your system. If the thermostat is running on batteries only, you will lose the WiFi capabilities. You will still be able to use the thermostat manually. If you have any other questions please reach out to our Sensi Technical Support Team at [email protected]. Thank you again and have a good day.

  • QuestionWILL THIS WORK WITH A OIL FURNACE

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer The short answer is yes. The long answer is yes but you must check to make sure that the model number is compatible. And as with models that require batteries, this means you won't need the common wire connected. So always double check the specs and these type of questions you can ask of Google and always double check the answer with the manufacturer.

  • QuestionMy current thermostat has two wires running to it (only have a heater). Will this work with a two wire setup?

    Asked by German.

    • Answer No, the standard Sensi smart thermostat (ST55U) does not work with only a two-wire setup because it requires a common wire (C-wire) for continuous power. However, Sensi Lite (ST55) may be compatible with some two-wire systems without a C-wire. To get the standard Sensi working, you must either add a C-wire or use an adapter kit.
