A:AnswerOur Opal 2.0 started leaking after a couple of years of regular daily use. I ran the cleaning cycle, but not nearly as often as recommended. Water was pooling under the ice maker. After moving it to clean up, we noticed what looked like calcification, or mineral deposits, along the bottom edges and on the countertop.
I disassembled the entire unit, cleaned everything down to the auger that delivers ice and put it back together. I used CLR with a toothbrush, Scotchbrite pad and a lot of elbow grease. This process took about 4 hours total.
Now I’m waiting to restart the ice maker since it was laying on its side for disassembly. It has to sit upright for about 4 more hours for the oil to drain from the compressor lines.
I’ll run the unit through a few cleaning cycles with dilutions of white vinegar and then bleach after all this is finished.
Hopefully, this will resolve the water leaking issues and provide another couple of years of service before going through another complete tear down for inspection.
That being said, it’s indispensable when working but not many customers are going to want to go to these extents to keep their ice maker running. They’d probably throw it away (in an environmentally friendly way, of course) and buy another one, which is exactly what I’ll do if this didn’t resolve the leak!
Bottom line, DO NOT neglect weekly cleaning of this unit or you will experience problems down the road.

A:AnswerIt comes with a basic screen filter to prevent large fibrils from getting sucked in and causing a clog. I personally would recommend buying a filter online the is made for this machine but not from the manufacture.
But it comes with everything you would need to run it out of the box.
A:AnswerThe overall width with the side tank water reservoir included is 13 1/2 inches. The 16 inch dimension is the front to back (depth) dimension of the unit. You may see or hear water running during this process - this is normal. If Opal seems loud during this process, it may need more water. A:AnswerYes, both tubes are supposed to drain water which is why both tubes are capped off at the beginning, Tube A drains the internal Reservoir and Tube B drains the side tank. Tube A must always be capped off at the end while running generally...Tube B needs to be plugged into side tank so that way it drains the side tank if it is used, otherwise Tube B is always capped off as well. You would only remove them if you wanted to drain the entire system to descale/clean or store.

A:AnswerFor anyone having this issue after doing a cleaning, you likely got air in your pump and will need to get the air out.
1. Turn off your ice maker.
2. Make sure both tubes on the back are sealed.
3. Take out the ice tray.
4. In the bottom left of the reservoir there is a small filter, pull it out and you should see a white rubber ring.
5. Fill up the reservoir at least over the white rubber ring.
6. Fill a syringe/turkey baster with water, and insert it into the white rubber ring but do not push the water out yet.
7. Turn the machine on and push the water out of the syringe. Refill and repeat with the machine on until you hear the pump kick on.
Once you hear the pump running, that means you've cleared out the air and the ice maker will go back to working as normal.

We have the app on our phone. We use a schedule to control when it's on/off (we keep it off during our work day, but have it on in the AM & evenings).
We've used the app to turn on the ice machine when we head home early, but otherwise the predefined schedule controls when the machine is on/off. We've never had our presence affect whether it's on or off.
