A:AnswerHi kdallen220- You can choose any model. All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. You can use the same rear venting. Check out page 21 of the Installation Guide for model PVM9005SJSS- OUTSIDE BACK EXHAUST (Horizontal Duct): https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40755.pdf - Models with similar features are JVM3160RFSS (Black Case) and JVM6172SKSS (Gray Case). A:AnswerHi Bea- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are happy to provide assistance. While the microwave is assembled for outdoor exhaust, it can be converted to recirculating (indoor) venting. The instructions are included with the microwave. All of our over-the-range microwave ovens are designed for adaptation to the following three types of ventilation: *Outside exhaust (horizontal), *Outside exhaust (vertical), *Recirculating (non-vented). Thanks for checking with us!
A:AnswerNo, we do not offer self-closing doors on our microwaves. If you find that your microwave door closes loudly or is harder to close than your previous model, the difference in the door noise is due to a firmer spring in the door latch; this is a normal condition for the microwave. You can lift up on the latch to feel the tension.

A:AnswerAll of our over-the-range microwaves will fit in a 30" wide opening offering a variety of great cooking features. In all cases, we recommend using the mounting bracket and hardware we include with the new model to ensure proper installation. This lovely model will make a great addition to your home.
A:AnswerOur Advantium is something truly special and we are so pleased that you had yours for 18 years. We are sorry that you need to replace it and are happy to help you find a comparable model. Please know that the microwave you selected will fit in your space and work well for you without having to change the ducting, however it is just a microwave. The 120 Advantium is model number PSA9120SPSS. Note: The Advantium oven uses breakthrough Speedcook technology to harness the power of light. The Advantium oven cooks the outside of foods much like conventional radiant heat, while also penetrating the surface so the inside cooks simultaneously. The outside of the food is cooked like a conventional oven, with radiant heat produced by halogen bulbs above and below the food. This halogen-produced heat receives a boost of microwave energy to brown and cook foods evenly and fast, while retaining their natural moisture.
A:AnswerAs part of our ongoing effort to be better ambassadors of the environment, we're no longer offering replacement literature. By moving to electronic-only delivery formats, we not only do more to preserve the environment, we also ensure that only the latest version of the document is provided to you. You can always access the latest version of literature for your model by searching for your model number on our GEA website where you can view, download and/or print as needed.
A:AnswerHey there,
We can definitely understand your concern about the microwave vent fan. All over-the-range microwaves have an automatic fan feature to help protect the electronic components as well as help the cooking area get rid of excess heat. The built-in thermostat automatically turns the vent fan on if the unit is too hot and will not turn off until the microwave is cool again. You will not be able to turn the vent fan off manually during this time.
"Too hot" means the temperature around the control panel is above 150 degrees Fahrenheit.
The fan will shut off when the control surface is less than 150 degrees Fahrenheit. If this is not the case and your vent is not shutting off at all, we recommend calling for service. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737. Let us know if you need assistance. Mike@GEA
A:AnswerHello- Thank you for taking the time to send us your questions. This microwave unit we can confirm does not have the option to reverse the door. We hope this doesn’t cause any inconvenience. If there is anything else we can help with in the future please let us know. Sincerely- Dianna@GEA
A:AnswerHi, We replaced our microwave and was surprised to learn that GE Profile microwaves were not standard size and had the same issue. We went to hardware store and purchased pine wood trim and painted it stainless steel color and glued it to the wall. You can't even tell its separate! Good luck!
A:AnswerHey there,
This is a great question to ask. The product height for the PVM microwave is 16-7/16", while the cutout height is 16-1/2". The cutout height for the PVM microwave is 1/4" greater than your JVM model, however, it will still fit with no issues. If you have any additional questions, we're always here to help. Have a wonderful day! Mike@GEA
A:AnswerHi! Thanks for asking. A humming noise when the microwave is not in operation would be normal. The transformer emits a slight humming sound that is usually not noticed. The transformer is used to power the clock. If you'd like to read about other normal operating characteristics, you can see an article on our website titled NORMAL OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS FOR A MICROWAVE. Hope this is helpful! All the best. -Michael@GEA
