Q: QuestionI would like RAM installed on my laptop. It currently has 4 gb and I would like 2 sticks of 8 gb, totaling 16 gb installed on my HP laptop. Will geek squad be able to do that? And if so, then what is the cost of installation. I know I can buy the RAM.

Q: QuestionDoes in-store Geek Squad do BIOS updates and provide the CPU to do it? I have a motherboard that needs updating as the BIOS doesn't support the new Ryzen 5 2400G processors

• A:Answer Yeah they will do it but they'll charge you $150 to do it. Completely rediculous if you ask me to charge more than the cost of new motherboard to make something up to the standard of what is being advertised. Just buy an older processor and return it after you update, or get a boot kit from AMD support.

• A:Answer Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments will get priority. It is easy to make and appointment online. I am sure they can replace a hard drive. I would guess they can recover data from an old hard drive, but you would have to inquire. I would guess the old hard drive is damaged if you are replacing it. The recoverability may depend on damage to the old drive - just a guess.

• A:Answer I would call the local shop. Talking to one of the folks near me, they do. But- make sure your parts work together. Correct motherboard socket for your processor, correct RAM for the mobo, etc. I would go in and talk to them, easiest way to get a feel for local shops capabilities.
