QuestionI am replacing a T6 with a T9. The T9 is not wide enough to cover the hole in the wall. The T6 had been mounted to a metal receptacle box that sits horizontal with mtg screws left & right. Can anyone point me to an oversized wall plate for the T9?

QuestionHi - can you tell me why/when the background color is blue & are there other colors? Is it for A/C vs. heat? I like the white background with the colored numbers but don’t care for the whole screen being colored. Will I have a choice?

- Answer Hi Elle, the T9 will show an orange display when your heat is running and blue when cool is on. If your system is not currently running the background will be white, it is not possible to change the colors. - Maria

QuestionI have a boiler and would be using this for heat only. However, the zone valve requires power to open and power to close the valve. Can the thermostat do this with a 3 wire system?

- Answer I would call Honeywell and ask. ( honeywellhome.com PHONE: 1-800-633-3991) It seems I read somewhere that it does not work everywhere. They are very good to call and may tell you which of their thermostats would be best for you to use.

QuestionDo these units support variable speed air handlers, like Mitsubishi heat pump systems? Nest does not... but the Mitsubishi thermostats are not user friendly. Looking for a good replacement.

- Answer The installation booklet does not mention anything about Vivint. The guide only mentions "Amazon Alexa", "Google Assistant"', "IFTTT" and "Apple HomeKit". You can contact Honeywell for specific answers.

QuestionMy current thermostat a Carrier TP-PRH-A is 2 wire thermostat. I recently had a return an Ecobee thermostat I purchased because my HVAC person said it wasn't compatible. Is this thermostat compatible with a 2-wire installation I currently have?

- Answer Opie says: Yes, it works with a two wire system but you will have to run two more wires to the backplate from an external transformer (Amazon sells them for about $15). The instructions with the T9 show how to wire this 2 wire plus power setup. The backplate even has a special switch you manually set for this 2 wire system. This is not using the "C" wire adapter device, which is not useful for two wire system. See instructions.
