- Answer No you have to leave the battery in the controller for it to charge. You can use a 10 foot USB cable to charge it while playing. That is what I do sometimes. Or buy a second controller. Always have one charging on the stand. You will never run out of juice that way.

- Answer if the skin adds thickness to the mini-usb connector side of the controller, the plug won't engage completely.

QuestionDo you need a certain Xbox controller or just one with the batteries

- Answer Just a regular Xbox controller. It comes with the 2 rechargeable battery packs. One for each controller, to use instead of regular batteries. Then charge two controllers on the charging dock. Recharge on the dock, as needed. Tip: to make them last longer, wait until battery packs are fully dead before recharging on the dock and remove from dock as soon as they’re recharged.
