Every municipality has it's own fire codes. Yes, it meets code as far as being a hard-wired, stand-alone smoke detector regardless of the wifi connectivity. The detector will alert you locally regardless of a wifi connection. Most smoke detectors have to be be interconnected and sound simultaneously when there is an alarm. I'm pretty sure that these do, regardless of wifi. There are UL listed wireless fire alarm devices that meet national fire alarm codes. If your city requires a smoke detector that is monitored by a dispatch service, this smoke cannot be monitored or connected to an alarm system.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Our home has smoke detectors in every room, plus a few extras in our stairwell. I used this to replace one in our stairwell, and left all the others online. In speaking with the fire safety company I use at work, they said for residential in our area, that would suffice. The critical part for residential is the battery backup per his recommendation. However, he did say they don't meet code for commercial as those systems should be centrally monitored.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I since you program it so it turns of your ac if there is a fire and you get an homeowners insurance discount. It alerts your phone. I would say check with your city you live in. I would say that if you have an alarm company that notifies fire department check with your monitoring company.
