No glass. You ARE letting air exchange when you go to get water but this refrigerator retains cold very well. It has metal in the back that's very cold so the few seconds that the top left door is open to get water I'm sure is more than compensated for by the efficient cooling. PLUS the open area is less than half of the one door. Air doesn't come through the water dispenser area on the bottom - that's blocked and there are 2 shelves above the water dispenser so air exchange only occurs between those shelves. In my experience so far, I rarely "catch" the compressor on and the refrigerator is always cold so it's really efficient.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is not. It is a fairly limited open area however since the water dispenser and infusion pitcher take up nearly half the space and the two bins which are accessible from both inside the refrigerator and behind the outer door close off almost half of the remaining space.

The water and ice dispenser are located behind a "showcase" door that is essentially a second door that gives you the clean, sleek look on the outside, but allows access to the ice and water dispenser. However, the whole door can be opened to access the inside of the refrigerator behind the dispenser. ^Jecca
