It is better to have a straight shot for any dryer vent going outside of the home. 90 Degree bends tend to hinder air flow as well and potentially trap lint. Of course the shorter the distance the better the flow as well. Generally the home design will allow for the better placement of these appliances so that there are no major issues with this.
