The TV needs a smartphone or tablet to adjust the settings and must hooked to a cable or satellite tv box because there is no built in channel tuner. It must rely on the cable or satellite Box to change channels. And since she is 91, I wouldn't recommend this TV for her. This TV really needs a smartphone or tablet and also it needs to connect to the Internet to upgrade software and to use the apps so you must have a tablet or smartphone for them to work. I would not buy this for my 70 year old parents because everytime they wanted to adjust the TV display I would have to drive over and do it for them. I would recommend a Non Smart tv that has a built in channel tuner and a full funtion remote. Just my thoughts.

Do not buy this tv unless you have a seperate smart device like a phone or tablet to contoll Netflix that you would then "cast" to the tv screen via your home wifi network. This tv does NOT have its own operating system to run Netflix independently.
