    Geek Squad is unprofessional and useless

    Had to use my warranty three times for my 4K Vizio TV. I'm very cautious and careful with my things especially if they're expensive. So it angered me to see that the Geek Squad techs scratched up the back panel of my TV near the screw holes. Forgave that since it's the back of the TV. Whatever. Then I needed another repair for a flickering issue. The agent and tech sent for diagnosis and repair this time where great and careful. But when I needed a third repair, the agent sent for diagnosis HIT my TV to "check for loose cables". He struck it three times on the top of the TV. Probably became angry after I told him I wanted a TV replacement cuz the second agent said I would qualify if I needed a third repair. Told him to leave my house. He said he would call back later to see if a TV replacement was approved. Never called and come to find out he set up an appointment for repair without informing me and the number I called the guy told me no TV would be replaced. Spent hours trying to place a complaint on this guy named ARBEN and it was a hassle on itself. Then the appointment he set up was impossible to cancel. They never came but to this day I get reminders through email to reschedule my appointment which I'm not going to. From now on I'm not buying any warranties unless I'm guaranteed a replacement instead of repair. Bought an Xbox One X a few weeks ago and rejected a warranty. Now if something breaks, I'd rather buy new than deal with the headache Geek Squad provides.

    Believe the 1 star reviews. Had many calls about my issue and i ended up wasting my time to find out it is just an extended warranty.

    It is sad that after 10 years, The Geek Squad is no longer what it used to be. I used to love working with them. Now there are massive hold times- they warned me over and over there were 2-3 hour waits. It was almost as if they did not want to assist and were hoping to scare me away. When they finally connected to remote into my computer, they failed to resolve the issues not only once, but twice. The agent had me sitting at my computer for 2 hours to assist then told me he needed to check something and would be right back. He never came back after two more hours I finally disconnected and tried a new agent with zero results. I waited that long because they repeated over and over the hold times were long and I was afraid of losing my spot! It appears all the agents are from a foreign country and did not really understand what I was saying in our chats. It would be nice to have agents who speak English as their first language in order to serve the clients better. I have now contracted with a locally based IT support company who fixed my issues in about 45 minutes.

    Don't Waste Your Money

    I told the salesman the story of how my old TV broke - my kid (accidently) threw a riding bike (for toddlers) into it; he assured me that with this plan, if anything like that should happen again, simply bring the broken TV in and they will replace it (as well as if anything else might fail/break). This was last November (when I purchased a 43" Samsung). I told the same story to a different salesman, last February when I purchased a 75" Sony, who confirmed the same thing. Now: Samsung - both HDMI ports do not work; "nope, don't bring it in, call Samsung (and we can not schedule an appointment for you)." Sony: accidental damage (not from a bike this time); "that's not covered. We can send a tech out to look and see, in over three weeks time, but just so you know, we might need to cancel the appointment." For over twenty years of being a loyal customer and spending tens of thousands of dollars over these years, never once needing Geek Squad help, and this is what I am provided with? Not one, but two salesman lying to my face...save your money and don't buy this absolutley pointless protection plan.

    PURCHASED A TV END IF APRIL. RETURNED FROM A VACATION MID MAY AND IT LOOKED AS IF THE TV SHATTERED ON THE INSIDE. TOOK THE ITEM TO THE HARRISONBURG VA LOCATION AND THE "GENTLEMAN" AT THE GEEK SQUAD DESK WAS RIDICULOUSLY CONDESCENDING AND RUDE. I TOLD HIM THAT MY SON TURNED IT ON WHEN HE RETURNED FROM VACATION ANS IT LOOKED AS IF IT WAS SHATTERED ON THE INSIDE. HE SAOD SHATTERED SCREENS ARE NOT COVERED AND LOOKED BACK DOWN AT HIS PHONE. I ASKED WHAT COULD BE DONE TO REPLACE IT WOTH THE GEEK SQUAD 5 YEAR WARRANTY... HIS REPLY WAS... YOU COULD RECYCLE IT AND GAVE A HALF SMUG SMILE. WHAT IS THE POINT OF GEEK SQUAD IF THEY ACT LIKE GARBAGE. CUSTOMER LOST.

    An absolute waste of $$$ this time around. I have spent hours on the phone waiting for service. I'll just include here my log of calls to Best Buy to get a replacement remote control on my TCL TV, for which I paid $75 for a two-year protection plan: • 14 Mar 22 @ 950 am called BB. Dan. “new remote in mail in 3–4 days and email soon.” • 20 Mar 22 @ 9:43, I called and spoke with Yenner because CHAT was no help. They could not find order # (of course because Dan hadn’t followed up). • 21 Mar 22 @ 9:36 – 10:00 am: called the # that Yenner gave me 866 613 9853, with ref #283704195 —waited over 10 min on hold…SPOKE WITH CHAD…he gave me same order # as in the email from Dan on 14 March. When I told him I’d already been waiting a week (not just since my call yesterday), he realized the mistake and reordered (previous was an in-home order without an appointment date, so I may end up getting 2 remotes). • NEW ORDER # 76764340, and should arrive Thurs or Fri. • 28 Mar 22 @ 9:45am—Called and spoke with Dale. He said, “Chad did not hit ‘submit’ button”; gave me new ref #: 76967624 and emailed me a confirmation # (remote will be mailed 2-day) ORDER REF # IS ACTUALLY 96957624 ACCORDING TO EMAIL • 28 mar 22 @ 1004 (Dale hooked me up with cust svs) “9 min wait—we’ll call you back” I left my # • 28 Mar 22 @ 10:13 got call back and had to wait for Lucille. She looked over previous notes, couldn’t understand that I wanted refund of $74.99 I’d paid for “Geek Squad Protection Plan” she put me on hold. • 28 Mar 22 @ ? Kayla; I explained to her, she transferred me to Mohamed (10:28am) in Primary Support. He couldn’t help, did not even have access to order #s. He said I would not have to wait and he transferred me to Billing & Renewal: • 28 Mar 22: @ 1035, Billing and Renewal—on hold As I write this I've been on hold (or talking with the wrong agent) for 65 minutes. Still waiting to speak with Billing and Renewal (20 minutes on hold).

    You pay for Geeksquad but they wont help you unless it's been over a year because the tv I bout has a 1 year warranty so GS said they can't do anything because it's Samsungs problem til them. And i can't get any answers from Samsung after they sent a tech to my house and told me it's a software problem and nothing the tech could do but call Samsung and see what they want to do. So I called samsung and they wanted to send a tech again.. WHAT???

    Not a fan of this peace at mind they sale you. I had a repair done on my daughters gaming laptop (the repair was for the screen not the battery.) when we got it back we plugged it in worked great okay awesome. Well she leaves it plugged in normally but one day we wanted to have a bring your system in the living room family gaming night she unplugged it and it shut off it would not turn back on. Unless the power cord was plugged in. took it back asap it happed to be the posted date it”expired”. they said it was already expired and I’m out of luck unless I wanted to pay their repair prices.I called the customer service line they seemed to careless. It’s my fault for not checking their work that’s why I say there is no peace at mind in it. I have 8 kids so I would normally buy the protection plan but not anymore no thank you.

    Check and see if you can get a warranty from the actual manufacturer before going with this warranty for example instead of geek squad i have a warranty with TCL themselves no hassle replacement including a 1 time free remote replacement

    TV was broken when I received it. As a result, I went to return the TV. I was given store credit but the $80 protection plan was withheld by Geek Squad. If you buy a TV

    Bought a 5 year warranty but apparently they don't let you use it till the one year manufacturer warranty falls off, so your paying for 5 years but your really getting 4 it's a rip off

    I will no longer shop at best buy for any technological need, cpu, phone, tablet, or television. As they specifically lie about your warranty coverage. I purchased a 5yr additional coverge warranty and asked at time of purchase if accidental damage would be covered such as a screen crack in moving the tv from one point to another. I was told it would be covered and if it could not be repaired it would be replaced. Not So. the very thing happened, tv screen was cracked during moving from a table top to a wall mount and after calling and speaking again with an agent i was told accidental damage was covered. Set appointment (which was 2 1/2 weeks from incident) for tech to look at. Day of appointment today 11/23/2022 tech calls and says i see your screen is cracked, that is not covered and instead of wasting trip to see he would not be out. So apparently they hook you for the warranty to increase the store profits and cover only what manufacturer would cover just for additional time after manufacturer warranty expires which is also a hose job because you lose a year of coverage because it starts at time of purchase when Manufacturer covers at least the first year. Im sorry but will never shop Best Buy again.

    Do not buy it! Again DO NOT BUY it. This is probably my last purchase on BestBuy. I will go spend my money somewhere else. I spent over $6000 in a week. I bought 4 LG TVs for my restaurant. Remodeling was not finished on the date as we planned. So I didn't even open the boxes for 2 weeks, because my dining room was not ready for the TVs. One of the Tvs came out of the box with a cracked screen! The other 3 are just fine! I called local BestBuy, they said they can't help because it's been over 2 weeks since I bought it. They asked me to call LG customer service. I called LG customer service, they won't fix the TV because it is an external issue, it is not an internal issue. Geek Squad won't fix it. LG customer service won't fix it. I have a broken TV with all the extra warranties and no one would like to help because I didn't get to open the TV box for 2 weeks. Terrible customer service so far on both sides. LG and BestBuy as well. I should have ordered the TVs from somewhere else. If no one helps me out, I know where to take my business next time.

    I have always been a big believer on The Geek Squad protection plan. I purchase a premier TV LED 8 seriers Samsung and I wanted to ensure that I was being protected under Geek Squad protection plan. My kid had accident where my TV has a crack on the screen and was told that it would be replaced by customer service representative I was missed informed Once I scheduled an appointment and was told that I would be taken care of. I was excited to tell my family that it would be fixed. Come to find out later that evening the technician that was going to come out to fix my TV told me that he would charge me an additional $100 in order to take a look at my TV and he asked me what had happened to the screen. I provided to him the information as to how my screen got cracked and mention that the protection plan did not cover and if he ended up coming to my house. I would be billed an additional costs just to look at it. I appreciate the technician explaining to me my options before being billed more. I would like to provide a lower rating but it is not possible. Very disappointed on being missed inform by the customer service representative from Geek Squad that schedule my appointment. It's been over a month and half now i have not yet recived my reimbursemnet nor my extra remote that is included in the protection plan. I would think twice before buying TV protection.

    My tv will not turn on or off with the remote. As I had purchased a 5 year extended warranty I called the geek squad. After 6 weeks of repeatedly calling them I have been told no one is going to come out to service it as I live 50 miles from their store and that they advise me to contact the manufacturer direct. Not what they told me when they sold me the extended warranty! Anyway that warranty is expired. I have talked to no less than 5 different people with the same result. They took my money and refuse to service my product! If you live in a rural area do not purchase a warranty from Best Buy! Absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!

    I recently filed an in-store claim for my Xbox controller on the 19th December 2020. The geek squad agents refused to issue me a replacement instead the told me they had to order me a new controller. The estimate completion date was the 24th December 2020. I received the replacement on the 29 December 2020. The controller I received was an incorrect model and it was a used/damaged controller. I called geek squad in regards to my issue. The agents hanged up on me five times, put me on hold six times transferred me seven times and after three hours of frustration on the phone I asked to speak to a supervisor I was put on hold for 45 minutes. After three hours 45 minutes of trying to get help or speak to a supervisor I finally gave up. Best Buy replaced my broken controller with a broken controller. Customer support is improperly trained and there is no accountability. The disrespect I had to endure dealing with GeekSquad was nerve recking. I would never recommend Best Buy protection plans to my worst enemy.
