This Chromebook was very cheap ($187 when I bought it 10 months ago) & meets all of the criteria for a basic student laptop! It's sturdy, not too heavy, has decent speed if there's not too many tabs open, the display is good (though a bit dim for me), touchscreen works well, and can run Google or Office365 Apps just fine. Cons: touchpad is okay but sometimes the mouse jerks after moving back and forth quickly. Also, the magnet keeping the computer closed is weirdly strong - to the point where it takes one hand to keep the bottom held down while opening. So, can't to open it with one hand. One thing that surprised me was how it can open .xlsx files by just opening it with Chrome, then you can transfer the data into a Google Sheets, then Excel if you'd like to. So, opening data files for Chemistry homework doesn't require an additional app which is a huge plus for me. All in all, a great laptop to buy - especially if it's on sale! Great for college students who don't need super beefy computers.

Superb value for the hardware, with caveats

First the good news - at the currently listed sale price of $179, this is likely an outstanding value. The combination of a Core M3-8100Y processor and 8 GB RAM means that the laptop stands up well to even more advanced processing tasks - basic web browsing with multiple tasks (including streaming multiple videos simultaneously) is no issue, and while I haven't loaded it yet, I would expect mainstream Linux apps like LibreOffice to run without any problems. The 360 hinge works very well to convert to a tablet, and while the device is certainly not military grade (and doesn't pretend to be), it definitely appears to be robust enough for routine daily use. As a reminder, this device does not have an integrated HDMI port. There are, however, some things you want to make sure you are aware of before purchasing. These don't necessarily make it a bad purchase, but you don't want to be caught off guard - (1) Several reviews indicate that the laptop is difficult to open when closed - this is definitely true. This is typically attributed to a magnet that is "too strong" keeping the lid closed - in my opinion, this is a design issue where the the top and bottom of the laptop fit "too well" together when closed, such that it's hard to get a good grip on the two pieces to separate them. My best success comes when trying to open from the middle (not one of the edges), where there is a slight recess in the bottom piece. See the first picture below. (2) Several reviews also indicate that the keyboard is difficult to use in daylight, as the backlight makes it hard to identify different keys. This can also be true, depending on the backlight setting. The issue here is that the keys are silver, and the backlight is white - so it's easy to get a configuration where key label blends in to the gray of the key. You can mitigate this by either raising or lowering the backlight intensity - but it means I often need to run with backlight on full when indoors just to see which key I am trying to press. See the pictures below for examples. (3) The AUE date for the machine is June 2026, meaning that it is officially supported for only 3 1/2 more years. This is definitely the biggest of the issues here. What to do in July 2026? Maybe replace with ChromeOS Flex (and likely give up Android apps)? Maybe move to LaCrOs (so you have an updated browser, but an old kernel)? Maybe wipe and install Linux? Maybe get a new Chrombook (so you're spending $179 for 3 1/2 years of use)? Given the hardware specs of this device, it should be a pretty capable machine even in 2026 - but you will need to figure out what to do about its software. Given the balance between the specs of the device and the low price at which it is currently available, it's very tempting to keep it, deal with the first two issues above, and then look for a solution to the AUE date a few years down the road (when the software situation may be different). The review form forces me to pick, so I said "yes" to "would you recommend" - but in the end, I likely won't make a decision to keep until all of the final 2022 Black Friday sales become available. But I'm guessing it will be hard to find a device with this hardware at this price.

Excellent price and is exactly all i needed for what i do on the computer. I always over buy and feel like i waste money on laptops but this time I spent under $200 for a chrome book and it does everything i need it to do. Now i can afford to actually upgrade in a few years if i need to

Fast Chromebook, Nice size, great build quality (aluminum). Great price for Black Friday deal. Good battery life too only downside to me is the keys are the same color as the laptop (silver) with white letters so it can be kinda hard to see in the light

I got this for my wife in black Friday sale for less than $200. At that price point it's a no brainier. She uses it daily with no major issues. The Wi-Fi isn't as consistent as more expensive devices, but still acceptable

I love this touch screen laptop/tablet, only issue I had was after a month of buying it. A screen came up saying chrome OS was missing or deleted and to insert a recovery usb stick or sad card. I reset it and i had to start all over since everything was wiped well it shut off and turned and repeated those steps 5 times and the. Shut off and never turned back on. I had time to still return it to Best Buy even though I didn’t purchase protection or any of their services for damaged items and since I was still in my grace period to return it they honored it and had another one shipped to my house in El3 days, I will be getting my brand new one On Wednesday and I will update you guys then. Other than that! It’s definitely a great, durable, fast, great laptop ! I believe the chrome OS IS MISSING SCREEN THAT CAME UP HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE NEW UPDATE.

It’s pretty convenient for just personal use. I wish it was easier to find a cover or something that always stays on since it’s easier to scratch but since it completely flips I understand that’s a big reach. Good picture and good enough sound! You can charge on either left or right side which is awesome! I can be charging the laptop on one side and my phone on the other side. Sometimes have issues with side volume button it won’t go up por down when it’s in tablet mode but I just use the touch instead. It is a tad bit difficult to open, you can’t really just lift it up from anywhere but this slight dip it has near the mouse, might be difficult for long nails!

Overall, the ASUS C433T is a handsome 2-in-1 that has an up-scaled styling for those wanting a more professional look from their Chromebook. It features a beautiful touchscreen display that has sharp contrast and a glossy finish. There is some reflection on screen, but compared to other matte screens that are on some of my other devices, this was the right choice for the better picture on the 1080p display. Mated to a back-lit keyboard and with an aluminum shell, this makes the notebook look much more premium than the price tag would indicate. However, there are some caveats that really take away from an otherwise very nice physical experience. The processor (Intel Core M3 8th Gen) has really brought the experience down a notch and the limited 64GB storage does not help the matter. This is a let-down seeing as though it comes with an ample amount of RAM(8GB) and the other tech aspects don't quite match up to it. This Chromebook can do your basic tasks however, and is a great device for media consumption. Just don't expect to do anything too demanding on this platform and you won't be disappointed. It also has a slight light bleed issue in the top left corner of my display, which I find to be more and more common with manufacturers lately. If the corner is pinched with my fingers, the bleed issue goes away which leads me to believe this is a quality control issue due to the lid not being held together tightly enough in that corner. Overall, I paid $179.00 for the CB on a Daily Deal and I am happy with it for that price point. I would recommend being cautious paying much more than that for it, as I think there are some better options for the MSRP in regard to both storage and processing power.

Keys are hard to see. Best for night viewing with the led backlit keys. They are too dim for daytime or the lights on. That is probably no. 1 complaint. I would think this is why there is a low price on this model. I have no issues with it as I can type so I feel like I have gotten an excellent deal on this chromebook and its perfect when I want something bigger to use than my phone. Integrates well with my moto G. Screen is great and the speed is on par with the price. No compaints on anything other than the keys being hard to see if you need to look at the keyboard. I got it on black friday for a total of 189 after tax and feel like it was a pretty awesome deal. Even at 229 which it currently sits at I believe it's worth that price. No heavy gaming but it will play most of the mobile games very well. I added photos with and without a light on to show how well the keys show up. With a light on you have to get a good angle on lighting to see the keys. It's really weird why this wasn't considered when they made this keyboard. It's obviously the biggest complaint.

This Chromebook is pretty good. Its build great and the fact that its a 2 in 1 is amazing. I love the USB-C charging and the back light on the keyboard. I have one small issue and it could be user error. I dont like the fact that the keyboard light doesn't come on until you press a key. I wish it was a way to keep it on but have it dim. Besides that i love it.
