Data recovery was obtained after other firms were unable to recover data that was important.

My daughter's computer crashed at the end of July. It's now September and the Best Buy-Geek Squad system still has the computer. They charge an arm and a leg to do basic diagnostics. They have to send it out for just about everything. Everything cost extra. Although they say they will recover your data as a part of the basic cost of the diagnostics - anything beyond this causes them to send the system out, takes weeks and costs an unreasonable amount for what should be basic - recovering the data and saving it. After paying a couple of hundred dollars just to get the system sent out Best Buy told us it would cost another $250 to recover the data plus another $69 to put it on some sort of media. When you combine this $300 plus cost with the $200 plus we already paid we might as well just buy another laptop. Best Buy - Geek Squad could have told us this weeks ago. Overall - not a very good, effective or cost efficient system. Although the Geek Squad touts themselves as experts - they really are not and anything beyond just basic stuff (you could probably do yourself) - has to be sent out. I will not use them again or recommend them to anyone. Bill H.

Had to send my computer to a clean room to recover my data. Asked for over $1,000 to recover. They had it nearly 2 months and never recovered a thing. I got my money back (all but $100) and a new computer so I’m not too upset except for all the data I lost. I purchased an external hard drive to back everything up. Don’t let this happen to you!

Geek Squad helped recover data from an external drive that went south. They are competent, friendly, an dprofessional.

Although I'm appreciate of the skills it took to retrieve data from my brand new Surface crashed hard drive, the "customer service" required for the process was horrible. Geek Squad and store management, after keeping me on hold for close to an hour on two occasions, did not have phone number or way for me to contact data recovery contract company. I'm still waiting to get my recovered data even though it was sent to the store 2 weeks ago. Long, disorganized process with uninformed and uncaring store employees.

The Geek Squad desk was extremely busy, an employee came from another dept. to help; she had previously been in the Geek Squad. She was extremely knowledgeable and wonderfully helpful. The problem was taken care of quickly and perfectly.

Helpful with basic troubleshooting but to send item away for repair was expensive.

I had a hard drive that was damaged. I had it sent off to see if it could be recovered. I got a call back about the damaged drive. It could possibly be recovered, but the price was way too much for me to pay. I guess those memories and pictures will have to stay lost.

Recover of data was easy. Submitted my old external hard drive and within two weeks I got a call from a service center with quote.

The Data Recovery Team ROCKS! They were able to read and save all the files from my old laptap and upload them into my new laptop. Everything was turned around in less than a week!

The Geek Squad are the ones who told me, when I lost my photos, etc. on my unfixable old laptop, to use an external drive to keep everything on. Now my external drive quit working and they want $1500 to recover the most they can. They can't even guarantee 100% recovery!!! This is so outrageous!!!! Playing on people's hearts to save their precious photos/documents/etc. I had to pay the $500 just to recover there "lower Category 2" recovery process! I can't afford it, but can't lose all my photos. I am livid about this!
