Overall, I really love this printer! I use it for my small business and the quality of printing is excellent. My only complaint is the printing extension that catches the paper coming out is positioned in a way that makes it difficult to access the main paper tray that’s located underneath it at the bottom of the printer. I also do not love that the extension tray does not automatically move back into the printer unless you prompt the printer to do so. Other than those two things, it works great for printing and scanning! The ink lasts a LONG time!

After several Months using the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 All-in-One Wide-format Supertank Printer, I can confidently affirm that this is a fantastic investment for anyone in need of a high-quality, user-friendly printer.
Right out of the box, this printer is incredibly easy to set up. The instructions are clear and concise, making the process a breeze even for those who may not be the most tech-savvy. The user interface on the printer itself is straightforward and intuitive, saving me precious time in my busy schedule. The printer software for your computer or device also adds to the overall user-friendliness of this product, with easy-to-follow prompts and settings.
One of the most remarkable features of this printer is the EcoTank technology. Despite the initial cost, the investment pays off in the long run. The high-capacity, cartridge-free system saves you the hassle and expense of frequently buying and replacing cartridges.
The price point may seem a bit high initially, but when considering the savings on ink and the exceptional print quality, it's truly worth it. I'm thrilled with this printer and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone in the market for a reliable, high-quality printing solution.
It's a solid investment that is worth every penny.

I had some photos I wanted to print on my old cartridge printer. I then discovered I need ink. To replace the 2 cartridges I needed would have cost about $150.00. If I was lucky I could get maybe 30 8x10 prints. I decided it was time to look into a new printer. I choose the Epson ET 8550 ink tank printer. I am very happy with the printer. The prints are sharp, the colors are amazing. So far I have printed over 75 photos from 4x6 to 13x19. I also printed 40 newletter's on plain paper. I still have FULL ink tanks!
Setting up the printer was quick and easy. To be honest, I did have to replace the residual ink maintaince box which was $23. But according to the reviews I read, this is fairly common when loading the ink in the printer for the 1st time.
Overall, I would recommend the ET8550 for people that need a wide format printer. It also has a built in scanner and it can function as a copier.

Very good printer. Photos printed on photo paper look excellent. Printed 8 1/2 by 11 photos and came out great.
The ink bottles supplied with it to fill the onboard print tanks hold about 2.3 of ink. Printed several 8 1/2 by 11 photos and have not used much ink at all. price is a little high, but shopped around. Might pay more up front for this... but you'll love the savings on ink cartridges.

Absolutely LOVE this printer! Took a bit to figure out some of it - like where exactly was tray 2 - but eventually figured it out. Since I print alot I really like the double sided printing as it saves on paper. It’s ot quiet but it’s not any louder than any other printer I’ve had. - I replaced my Brother laser with this one. The automatic openimg output tray was a surprise bonus but doesn’tclose unless you push the close button on the diplay which must be closed to load tray 2. Tray 2 doesn’t hold a lot of paper but it’s enough for me. I fill the tray every couple of weeks. Love the print quality too. Hope it stays working beautifully. Will only buy brand ink for this great printer to maintain it. Also like you can put larger paper in it too although I haven’t had an opportunity to try that out yet. Was well worth the investment!

I’ve been using this printer for a while now, and I can confidently say it has exceeded my expectations. One of the biggest advantages of this printer is its EcoTank system, which replaces traditional ink cartridges with refillable ink tanks. The ink bottles included in the box last for hundreds of prints, so you don’t have to worry about constantly replacing cartridges. The photo print quality is exceptional. Connectivity options are also very flexible. With Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and SD card support, it's easy to print from virtually anywhere. In short, the ET-8550 is an excellent choice for anyone serious about photo printing. I'm extremely satisfied and would definitely recommend it to others.

All my past printers were Epson’s. I truly believe in this brand. This printer, the Epson ET 8550, OMG. I was speechless after my first test prints. I made some test prints of my daughters and her friends recent figure skating competition pictures and it blew my mind. The quality of the print on Epson Photo Paper is outstanding. When I showed these pictures to my friends, and they though the pictures were taken by a professional photographer and prints were made in a professionally controlled print lab. If anyone is planning to buy this printer, I would say just go for it. You won’t regreat investing your money on this. The price is little bit at higher end but it’s worth it. I just got some sample photo papers of other brand, of course which are compatible to this printer. I will check those and come back with the results.

As a small photographer i have been eying this pronter for a few years. I have owned a regular eco-tank printer and it is the best printer I have ever owned!
I spit out 100 4x6 photos that ive been staching on my computer as soon as I got it.
It is a bit intimidating to set up since there are so many doors and trays, and it took a couple tester prints to fuiguire out that you NEED to select the right paper type when printing, but once I did, I only stopped because I had burned through a whole pack of paper!
Im very excited to keep spritting out prints with this bad boy!
As far as I can see, the colors are on point, and my black amd whites are perfect! And much more cost effective than sending to print!

I love it. It was a rough start because I was using my iPad and it kept saying paper out in #2 and spitting the paper out the back feed. I needed help from Epson and Apple. When I installed the program on my desktop Mac, everything changed. I was able to print my 12 x 12 files, the reason I purchased it. Alls right with the world and I love it. The color is great too. I would recommend it even if you aren’t totally computer literate.

I wanted to have a high quality printer that I could experiment with creatively. You really can't do that with a cartridge printer because of the high cost for each print produced. An eco tank printer, with it's much lower ink costs, lets you do that. So far the outputted pages of have not disappointed.

Very happy with this printer. After filling the ink reservoirs the printer preps the conduits to the print head and then all the ink the levels drop a bit less than 1/4 , but do not worry, the original cartridges have ink leftover for you to almost top of again, nice touch Epson, and thank you. Also, the print quality is very good, I really like it. Have printed on glossy and lustre photo paper. I definitely recommend this printer, have only used the rear top tray with a couple of sheets at a time, highly recommend this product, have printed more than 10 large sizes and ink levels have hardly dropped, can’t really tell. Expecting very low ink costs.

So far, after a few short weeks printing many numbers of images 81/2x11, 11x17 (paper sizes) this printer has given me beautiful results with no major issues. A couple of times it deposited/smudged a few corners of prints with black ink. Not enough to get into the image area but still a little odd. The image quality is really, really good. The images are all photography. The printer responds well to using ICC profiles and making adjustments - your monitor has to be set to lower brightness levels - how much lower depends on several things (too much to say here). If you're using this for photography, you won't be disappointed. I've now printed, at last count the other day, over 200 images, some having to print several times after adjustments. The ink is still well above 1/2 full in all the tanks. Lot's of positives. It's true what all those who have reviewed this say = no disappointments, especially if you're not hyper-critical. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

I got this printer because it CAN print on thick cardstock, however doing the rear feed slot in the back is a bit of a nuisance. You have to partially disassemble the printer and keep trying to print from the back until it actually prints. I bought the printer to print up mock-up packaging for new products before spending money on "real" packaging.
The printer prints nicely on Canon brand glossy photo paper, but leaves pizza wheel track marks on all other brands glossy photo paper that I have tried, including Epson brand photo paper. Matte photo paper doesn't have a gloss for the spikes to leave holes in so any non-glossy paper should be fine.
I have tried 3 different brands of compatible inks and all worked good enough for me so you can save money on cheap ink.
Some of the prints on photo paper will have extra marks on the paper where some of the excess ink rubs onto something and then onto the paper in the wrong spots, but those stray marks don't happen all the time. The stray marks just mean a good 13x19 photo paper is ruined and you need to print again. I also recommend waiting between poster prints to let the excess ink dry so it doesn't rub off onto the next paper and create stray marks.
I haven't tried printing on any disks yet.
To make sure the ink doesn't dry in the nozzles, you will need to find a 5 color Cyan Magenta Yellow K(black) Grey color print purge picture and print that as "regular" and a 1 color K(black) and print as photo paper glossy, to make sure all the nozzles are blasted clean, recommended about 1 time per week.

Excellent printer. Seamless wireless connectivity and the app is good. Really nice print quality. Love the different print trays and feed slot. A great value, fair price for a top quality, versatile ink jet tank printer. Say goodbye to cartridge printers, this is much more economical in terms of ink supply & usage

I needed a new photo printer and have used Epson and Canon photo printers in the past. After researching and talking to some people I know that had purchased the Epson Photo ET8550, I purchased one myself. I've had the printer for 3 months now and am very happy with this printer. The photos it produces are gorgeous and the use of ink is stingy! From 8" x 11" prints to the 13" x 19" prints all are simply photo lab equivalent. I have had zero problems with this printer since owning and printing many, many photos. I can't say enough about this printer. If you are looking for a great photo printer, you will love this one. I am so happy that I purchased this printer ... it is Great!!!

Thus far, this printer has been a workhorse. It was a breeze to setup, the software works flawlessly, and it provides quality prints. This is leaps and bounds better than our old HP.

First, the printer was simple to set up and get networked. Second, it's a relatively fast printer, even for photographs. Third, the color prints done on photo paper look very good. Lastly, the Ecotank technology will save money, as the inks come in 70 ml bottles that are used to fill the six tanks on printer and they are far less costly than typical ink jet cartridges with less printing capacity.
This is an expensive printer and one should look for discounts. Best Buy had a very good sale price along with an Epson sponsored $75 discount for trading in my old failed printer.
