    Problems with Mac

Purchased based on Consumer Reports tests. The print quality and speed are great HOWEVER -- it does not play well with my Mac or Air Print. Despite multiple installs, I have to restart both the printer and the computer to get them to connect. Air Print from phone or iPad is a hit or miss event -- works only some of the time -- and I've not found a work around on that. If not for the fact that I bought a good supply of cartridges ($$$'s), I would return it.

The printer produces nicely finished copies. There are a great number of plastic pieces on the printer, so I will wait to see how it holds up. Printer is extremely loud and shimmers and shakes when printing. The photo tray creates a problem when printing regular letter-size copies. I had to remove the photo tray completely to avoid trouble using large tray. Printing an envelope is a horrible task. Very frustrating because the instructions do not hold true.

Not happy with this printer so glad I didn’t spend more than $79.00 for it. The ink replace for all colors is $75 dollars same price as printer. This is first time with Epson. Their scanning tools either as software or iPad app are very limiting compared to what my previous HP could d. This one only allows two photos to scan at once where HP was four. There is no scan option for photos in the Print App from epson. Shouldn’t have to use a PC to scan a photo with so many tablet users. Picture quality was fantastic but now after I’ve done documentation scanning I have a dark streak on right side. It’s shows up on a scanned image even though there was nothing on the original and the scan area is clean and I haven’t even had a year today I scanned and it’s gone, but it had been therefore many days before. No idea.

Decent printer but ink runs out quickly

I needed to replace my printer and looked around for different options. I needed one that had the capability of fax, scanning and printing. I bought this one online. I did not realize how small the paper tray is. It truly does not hold a lot of paper. When I ordered the printer I went ahead and ordered replacement ink to have some on hand. The black ran out last week, and when I went to replace the ink I realized I had bought the multi pack which I had thought had black, but it is actually photo black and is not the correct cartridge. I had to order the separate cartridge and wait for it to come in. One week later, the new cartridge is already out of ink. I printed a total of 5 1/2 documents, a little over 100 pages front and back. This printer will not print anything if even one of the cartridges are out of ink. Very frustrating

Compact Printer - Ink doesn't last

Bought this printer as it was compact for the Home Office. It's great as a printer but the changing of ink cartridges is painful and they never seem to last even when changing the settings. The ink is expensive also.

Hard to load paper, impossible to clear jams

This new printer ws easy enough to install, but the robotics actually detract from the function of loading paper and particularly with jam removal. The automation factors including the 'window' opening/closing and the output tray automatically sliding out and back in for printing is useless. It is VERY difficult to access the paper loading trays and the cheap plastic trays and undesirable 'cd tray' for the drivers and instructions are not even forgivable... Why, Epson?? My favorite all in one printer out of Broather, HP and Epson in the last 2 yrs is HANDS DOWN the Brother! No fluff, no gimmicks, no bull. Hate but stuck with this nasty Epson. Never again.

I use this printer for work and I was incredibly annoyed when I found out that I couldn’t print a black and white word document because one of my color cartridges was out...ridiculous and a RIP-OFF. I would return it if I could. The print quality is average, nothing to write home about. The one thing I love is that the network adapter is great and I can send it jobs from anywhere in my home. The scan feeder and scan bed also work flawlessly and offer lots of great options. Still, I feel ripped off by the cartridge situation and therefore cannot recommend this product.

Hi, Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when you are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged, preventing air bubbles from entering. Air bubbles can damage the print head. If we can help you with anything else, please contact Epson Support at (562) 276-4382; Hours: Monday – Friday, 6am – 8pm PT; Saturday, 7am – 4pm PT. Sincerely, Marina – The Epson Team. Epson

The scanner function is the slowest thing I've ever seen -- it takes almost 5 minutes to scan one page. Forget scanning documents with multiple pages. The paper tray holds very little paper (like 20-30 pages), so you have to reload the paper tray multiple times in one print job. It's hard to remove and often gets stuck when you put it back in. Also, lots of paper jams. Don't buy this. Spend like $50 more and get a printer that is easy to use.

After accepting an update of "firmware" from Epson, my XP-830 printer no longer prints photos that are recognizable; nor are they dry. The only reason it is not a poor rating is because the black and white part still works. I might add that the advice given me by the Geek Squad did not solve the problem, and the Epson website was beyond my ability to fathom its directions--if that is what they were supposed to be.

This is the worst printer I have ever used. It takes minimum of an hour to connect to internet and I don't believe came with a cord to hardwire it. But it does come with the cord to set up faxing. Since I moved in December I haven't been able to get it working. And It isn't even worth selling at this point.

    To High Tech

For a basic all-in-one printer, the printer is to high tech for me in regards to everything it can do wirelessly. The instruction manual is non-existent unless you find it online and took me forever to get the scanner to work. I wish it was just a bit more basic as my kids have had difficulty knowing how to use it.

I'm returning this printer. I didn't like a lot of things about this product starting with ease of use and slow printing speeds. I had a HP photosmart Premium 309g for 8 years and until it developed scanning problems, I loved it! I went out today and bought another HP product.

I bought an Epson printer but am not happy with it. Will not accept foreign ink (non-Epson). The black ink smears and does not always print every line that needs to be printed. I will not buy an Epson product in the future.

I have found this printer to be more difficult to use than any I have ever owned. The quality of print is comparable to my previous printers, however you must jump through hoops to merely print a document, let alone a photograph. I will not buy Epson when I replace.
