I'm new to the Chromebook/laptop idea but love it!

This chromebook has been amazing! And I've given it quite a test trial before writing a review so I could be accurate in my opinion. I have to admit that I'm new to the Chromebook/laptop idea and have a home office so I log MANY hours on my desktop PC. But being able to take my work elsewhere, pay bills electronically while on vacation (which my iPad handles VERY differently via the mobile site and isn't nearly as user-friendly for that purpose), and carry this Chromebook around the house when I want to discuss an email or something with our kids has been priceless! I didn't realize how often I would find myself carrying it up to our bedroom and finishing up projects before falling asleep, so I do wish it had backlit keys but I'll keep that in mind for future purposes...it's definitely not a feature that warrants taking away any stars from my rating as this wasn't advertised as one of the features. I just didn't know how much I would have used it. The battery on this thing is unbelievable! For as often as I use it, it holds a charge for a very long time and I love the touchscreen option. I've mostly gotten used to the touchpad as well (versus having a mouse) and must admit it's very simple to use and has just the right sensitivity. The screen size is perfect for me, I was easily able to find a hard skin to protect it as well as a neoprene case to offer further protection when I'm not using it. Love it!

I was unhappy that Google stopped servicing their older Chromebooks. I was an original purchaser when they first emerged in , as I recall, about 2011. However, I did decide to upgrade to a newer model. This one offered a lot of bang for the buck. The SD memory slot will take 64 gig, 128 gig, and/or 256 gig and this supplements the 32 gig on the computer itself. The quality of "casting" to Chromecast TV is unbelievably clear & good. The computer is fast and better still, when I close the lid and reopen my work or pending research is still there. I can print anything I want to archive to .pdf format. The VERY BEST FEATURE is the BATTERY LIFE. Far, far longer than you would guess -- 9 to 14 hours in my usage.

Purchased this computer for my 13 year old daughter during Covid so that she would have a computer to do all her schoolwork. It’s perfect! She’s back to school now full time but it comes in handy when she has to stay home sick she can still participate in her school courses.

I'm new to Chromebook, so this is coming from a lifetime of Windows. I would say the transition has been pretty painless. I was using Chrome and gmail on my W10 laptop, so that helped the switch. I was able to set up a Canon D570 laser printer with NO problem - as long as the printer and Cbook are using the same SSID. HP Chromebook: 1. Funky keyboard layout, which is to say that it has pretty non-standard key spacing. I will be hitting the wrong keys for quite some time I expect. 2. Letters printed on the keys are unnecessarily small. Why so small - especially since the keys are not backlit ? 3. Screen brightness does adjust, but the contrast has no adjustment. Net is that the screen seems somewhat dim/washed out. 4. Screen resolution is not particularly good. Letters are a bit blurry, even after I searched around in the available fonts. 5. Battery life seems to be ridiculously good. Right now it's 90% charged, with 14 hours left ! 6. Very light weight. Nice change from the biggies I've been lugging around for years. 7. Great response time. 8. Brought Excel, Word and PDF docs over. (Note: copy into Cbook was about 10 times faster than the copy out from W10 laptop, even using USB 3.0 port.) Was able to open legacy sheets and docs with minimal fuss. Cbook Sheet and Doc programs are relatively primitive - think 40 years ago - but seem to be adequate for basic budgets, letters, etc.. Was able to print everything, including jpeg's. Conclusion: Simpler is better. I'm not a gamer and I watch movies, etc. either on my tablet or TV.

large touch screen, affordable and easy to use. Not a speed demon but gets the job done. My wife uses this way more often than her Windows laptop nowadays. The only thing my wife added was a stylus.

Each time I use this Chromebook I am reminded how Google has controlled the quality and evolution of the product. Manufacturers have to meet minimum standards for performance and reliability. HP has a great finish on this current generation machine. It's easy to grip, open, and use. The touchscreen is accurate and bright. The battery life is quite good. Keyboard feel is excellent. Mousepad also is positive and responsive. What can I say? It's great when everything just works. What I've come to expect from a Chromebook.

So after our son, decided to break both my wife's and my laptop within the same week. I needed to get a replacement asap. I had last spent a good amount of money for my previous laptop and did not want to spend that much again now with little ones in the house. So I looked and saw the Chromebook was on sale with a good hard drive but very limited space. But I do have a few terrabyte hard drive if I really need to have a large folder building up. The touchscreen is awesome. Looking at other touchscreen laptops there are none that even come close to this price.
