I purchased this item from Best Buy on 6/22/2025. The sales person highly recommended it. When setting up the item, I noticed the power cable was lose in connecting to the base. The item worked rather well when it would charge. I missed the 15 day window for Best Buy return, so I reached out to the manufacturer. A new cable was sent but failed to effectively power the base. A replacement product was sent but it was used. The manufacturer is no longer offering solutions to resolve the issue. I do not recommend this product there is a cable to base defect.

    Solid performing robot vacuum/mop combo

The iRobot - Roomba Plus 405 Combo Robot Vacuum & Mop + AutoWash Dock is a solid performing robot vacuum/mop combo. It comes well packaged with mostly recyclable packing material, which I appreciate. The top of the internal packaging has easy assembly steps and a QR code to get to the phone app, and is very easy to get setup. Once you download the app to your phone it walks you through the process of creating an account with Roomba or logging into an existing account, connecting to the vacuum and getting it connected to your home Wi-Fi. Once you're connected to your Wi-Fi the machine will start about a 20-minute download to update the vacuum's software. My update seemed to stay on the less than 1-minute remaining screen for quite a few minutes without completing the update, so I closed out of the application and reopened and it continued to the next step and had installed the update. The first thing the app will do is map out your house and save the map to the app. You can easily edit the mapped rooms using tools in the app if it accidentally combines certain areas of splits them where you don't expect. Once you have the house floor mapped out it'll walk you through getting the AutoWash dock filled with water and selecting which type of cleaning you want to do. Depending on the size of your house obviously the time will vary. I have a Eufy dry vac and a Shark wet/dry vac that I've been having issues with recently, so I have some other robot vacs to compare with. I'm hoping this Roomba unit will work better than the Shark, which worked good at first but then started acting strange for no reason. First thing I noticed when doing my first mapping and cleaning is it's a bit noisier than my other 2 vacs when getting over certain level changes. Seems to catch a little bit more of elevation changes. The cleaning cycle of the mop heads can be a bit loud so probably not something you want to schedule in the middle of the night while sleeping if the base is near your sleeping spot. The vacuum itself while vacuuming and mopping is fairly quiet about the same as my other vacs. One nice thing about the software is it keeps track of all the various replacement parts on the vac and how many hours vacuuming have been performed to remind you to replace them. I do wish this unit used a bagless design like my Shark. Replacing the bags is an extra cost that really shouldn't be there. Just a way for the company to make more money from the customer in my honest opinion, and definitely not as good for the environment. The actual vacuuming and mopping functions work quite well. It does a better job at picking up things than either my eUfy or Shark. I have a parrot and it does a great job picking up all the thrown seeds. The eUfy and Shark both like to miss quite a few pieces or throw them around. This vacuum gets them on the first pass way better. The mopping works quite well on my hardwood floors and automatically detects when it's on carpet so it doesn't mop that. You can also set zones for the vacuum to avoid if necessary. You can tell the vac to use different levels of cleaning before you send it out including how often it should return to the base to clean the mop pads. Depending on the size of your house this cleaning of the pads process can add a decent amount of time to the process when mopping. The software itself in the app is fairly straight-forward to use. Pretty comparable to both eUfy and Shark I would say in ease of use. You can set up schedules, access the Roomba store for all things Roomba, perform dock tasks like cleaning the mop heads or adjusting the drying time of the mop pads. You do get an additional bag that has a little spot inside the dock to store it which is nice. A couple extra mop pads are included as well. It would've been nice if they included some floor cleaning solution with the vac to get you started. Would help put a shine on the wood floor when mopping. Depending on the size of your house the fresh water and wastewater bins will last you varying amounts of time before needing to empty them. They are very easy to pull out and fill up with water or empty. The front of the dock folds down to expose the replaceable vacuum bag area. Easy to change when needed. Overall, I'm excited to have this unit added to my team! I think it performs quite well and should do a better job than either of my other vacuums. You will need to do some cleanup around edges with a hand mop depending on if that bothers you. All the robot vacuums I've used have the same limitation with only being able to get in so close to some edges, so that's pretty much to be expected. If you're thinking about getting a robot mop / vac combo this should work quite well! Once you get one, you'll wonder what you did before :) I'm giving this a 4 out of 5 stars instead of 5 out of 5 because it isn't bagless and is a bit on the noisy side at times.

This thing was great when I first got it, now less than 90 days later the auto MD feature simply hums, does not empty the bin and the pump fails to deliver liquid to the mop pads, so it is simply dry dusting my house. Already having to complete a geek squad transaction on this unit this early is absolutely asinine.

iRobot - Roomba Plus 405 (G185) Combo Robot Vacuum & Mop is a great product. Packaging - box is very good and product is well protected. All parts were packed in their places and easy to locate. Assembly - Easy and straightforward. Took protectors off the robot, added water to the wash tank and placed the front ramp on the unit. Then I downloaded the App. App - Was easy to download and install. Once it was installed I started to find the robot. The robot connected to my wifi seamlessly and without any intervention from me to have to restart my router or any thing else. Easy peasy to say the least. Mapping - Worked like a champ, I set the robot into map mode/setup and it started the process and mapped the rooms very quickly. Setting up the scheduling for cleaning - This also was straighforward and easy. I set it to sweep and mop and it started mopping as it cleaned. It is a bit loud, so I would recommend to run it while you are at work or not disturbed by noise. Cleans very thoroughly and no issues with getting stuck except once when it found my grandson's marble he had lost a few weeks ago. I picked up the robot and removed the roller brush which was very simple and removed the marble. It recalibrated and went back to cleaning the floors. Again, the app shows what has been cleaned and what it is still needing to be cleaned. Highly recommend this to a friend.

First of all, this did a fantastic job cleaning my hard floors and my carpet. I watched it going, and it switched seamlessly back and forth between mopping and vacuuming. it returned to the base a little more frequently than I expected to wash the mop pads. It was also a lot noisier than I expected, both when mopping and when washing the pads. You're definitely not going to want to schedule cleaning during the night. You'll want to run it when you're out of the house. Setup was easier than the last Roomba I had, though the initial software update took forever to install. The app said it should be about 20 minutes, but it was much closer to an hour. The initial mapping was quick because it mostly relied on lidar rather than having to bump into everything as it felt its way around. It was also much easier to tailor the map to the rooms and areas you will want to clean separately. It takes an initial stab at identifying rooms, but you can merge rooms or split rooms. At the end of the clean, it also empties the dustbin in the robot into a bag in the base, extending the amount of time before you have to dispose of the collected dirt. All-in-all, this is a huge improvement from the last model I owned and a huge convenience for anyone who has both hard flooring and carpets or rugs.

This is my second purchase of iRobot brand. I had to return the first, due to a sudden software crash and ended up buying another as that's the only brand of robovac I could buy with store credits. Worst app and software ever. The automation is no better than a highschool project. Waste of money. I strongly wonder if there is any testing done on the software or the sensor efficiency.

The dock is mostly designed well. It’s easy to assemble and has a small nook where you can store spare debris bags along with a set of spare (included) mopping pads. One area where the design lacks is excess cord storage. They designed storage into the back of the unit, but the power cord doesn’t fit in the guides very well, although it does accomplish the task so there’s that. Overall performance is pretty good. It definitely gets edges better than my previous Eufy vac, including under the cabinet toe kicks, which my Eufy was never able to figure out. I also prefer the straight back-and-forth pattern that the Roomba uses, as opposed to what appears to be pure randomness of some other vacs. It does a really good job distinguishing between carpet and hard surface for mopping. The Plus 405 should be able to easily handle your day to day upkeep, freeing you up to only perform periodic manual cleaning to get a few nooks & crannies. Noise level is acceptable. I’ve owned several robot vacs and the Plus 405 is about in the middle when it comes to noise levels. The robot itself is fairly quiet in operation. Not quiet enough to have it running while you’re sleeping or trying to watch TV in the same room, but not so loud that it’s a distraction running throughout the house while I’m in my office working. When it returns to dock is when it gets a bit noisier. The debris emptying is quieter than the J9, but still makes quite a racket. The mop washing stage isn’t overly loud, but the suction & gurgling noise is a bit annoying. The mop drying stage isn’t bad at all & you could easily watch TV while it’s drying. All said, it’s definitely not noisy enough for me to go back to manual vac & mop! Object detection & avoidance could be improved. I put a charging cable out in a couple of spots and the Roomba just ran right over it, although it didn’t get tangled up, so not a total fail. I also threw some flour on the floor in one spot, to see how well it cleaned, and it must have thought some of it was an object to be avoided because it went right around the pile. Hopefully that’s something they’ll improve on over time. It also struggled a bit with some other objects, as it got stuck on an exercise bike foot as well as a bathroom scale. The Roomba Plus 405 isn’t compatible with the iRobot app that I already use for my Roomba J9+, so I had to download the new Roomba Home app. Okay, fine, I’ll just start using the new app. Nope. The Roomba Home app doesn’t support the Roomba J9+, so now I have to keep two iRobot apps installed. Seriously?? Ever heard of backwards compatibility? The Roomba Home app also needs a little more time to mature. On the plus side, it opens up right away to a ‘Where would you like to clean today?’ prompt, along with a handful of ‘cards’ which show the last few sessions or Routines that you’ve used. If you typically clean the same room (or rooms) frequently, you could easily get things going in two taps. The app also makes it easy to create Automations (schedules) for routine cleaning. One area where the app falls short is in map editing. When you’re adding clean or no-go zones, it’ll let you zoom in on the map after you click the add zone button, but then it won’t let you pan/move the map from there. This can make it difficult to position the zone where you want it.

A Handy Time Saving Roomba Robot Vacuum/Mop

The iRobot Roomba 405+ Combo Robot Vacuum and Mop with Autowash Dock - Black arrived in perfect condition and was easy to unbox and set up. It comes with dual spinning mop pads and an Autowash dock that cleans the pads after each use. An extra set of pads are in the box for use when the first pads wear out. The Roomba Robot self-empties for 75 days, has intense suction, pad washing and drying, pad lift and a self-mapping Lidar for laying out rooms to be cleaned. A Roomba Robot application is available for use with your smartphone and allows you to select what rooms you want to be cleaned and when. Some rooms with heavier traffic can be set up for more frequent cleaning than other less used rooms. The Roomba Robot should be fully charged first out of the box. Once fully charged, next step is to let the Roomba Robot map your entire house even if you will be selectively cleaning some spaces more than others. Once mapped, you can choose what you want to be cleaned, set up a schedule for cleaning and change it as needed. Make sure to pick up any obstacles such as wires, boxes, and other things that might interfere with mapping the entire house. Mapping time will depend on the size of the house, room configurations to be mapped, generally around 30 minutes. Once fully mapped its time to clean. This is the third Roomba Robot I have owned and it is the best one I've had so far. It gets things much cleaner than my older units and has many more features than prior units, especially the Lidar mapping function. I highly recommend this IRobot Roomba 405+ to you!

I have been wondering when it would finally happen - Being a fan of both the Roomba and Brava series of iRobot cleaners, having two existing Roombas (a 600 and 900 series) and more recently introducing the Brava, I wondered when installing the latter, when we'd see an all-in-one system, understanding that the floor cleaning abilities would have to have a way to "deactivate" when dealing with non-hard floors as Roomba would travel to. My wonder was satiated when iRobot released their new 405 and 505-series cleaners. Not only did they combine the wet cleaning abilities of the Brava line, but coupled with the vacuum gives this a full service mopping function, where the Brava was more of a, "Automated Swiffer" of sorts. The packaging is big for the 405 I had shipped here, but is thoughtfully almost entirely cardboard and easily broken down for recycling, compared to the colorful and styrofoam-laden packaging of models past. This was a nice touch that didnt take away from the premium feel to the unboxing experience. Getting the device out and set up only took a few minutes and the assembly was self-explanatory, but was also illustrated on the packaging itself for those with less "new tech" intuition. The build quality of the device seems on-par with the more premium lines of years past, with some of the more advanced finishes on the device being replaced with new textures, that, while still give a premium look and feel when new, concern me a bit with long-term care, as I appreciated my former Roomba 960s glossiness and ability to be rubbed down with a Clorox wipe when it was soiled by the job it does - Not to mention it only had a DRY job - This new guy will be doing all things to all floors! I hope the textured top panel is as easy to get dirt and grime off of when things get messy in the field. The unit assembly was also intuitive - It seems to have a familiar single-whisker design with only a single roller/beater unit on the bottom, but the massive dual-action cleaning wheels for the mopping function needed somewhere to go (I also appreciated iRobot giving me a spare-pair in the box for when these need regularly washed so as to not put the unit out of service for any given time). There are a few things that I wish were different - Things I think I'll miss about the old cleaner: - The beaters/scrub heads on the bottom - These seemed easily replaceable and had a LARGE pickup surface when vacuuming that seemed to assist loosening dirt - Its hard to see at this point how this single bar will fare on cleaning QUALITY. - The new capture tank uses VACUUM BAGS instead of a canister to capture returned carpet dirt - This doesn't seem like the most ecological option, and Roombas of yore AND competitors have always opted for an open canister to collect in to eliminate waste. It's also, as we've learned from other competitors, a hinderance to suction, which is hard to measure in an automated vacuum. This seems like a money grab for iRobot, where I now need to buy new bags every month to keep this thing sucking optimally. Nice of them to include ONE SPARE to get me through this first week or two. The cleaner behaves much like our previous Roombas did on floors, doing a seemingly similar job on carpet, but the mopping is where this thing really shines. It clearly has better coverage than our little Brava did, and the rotary action seems to clean more thoroughly than the wet pad on the previous unit... But Brava seemed to actively identify stains and spills in a better way and we used to enjoy watching it see a stain and act as if its existence depended upon the elimination of it, where this new unit just scrubs over the spot, unconcerned with the results of the pass, almost convinced that a single pass would result in total cleanliness in all scenarios. The machine is a bit quieter than the 960 it replaced, but not by much, and not at ALL when you consider the evacuation of the dirt chamber into the tower dock - Thats a noise I'll never get used to, and wished there was more of a warning for (our Roomba sits in the dining area behind our living room so many an evening when its around cleaning and returns to dock to hear that motor fire up and go to work emptying the robot is a fun surprise. All in all, this is a nice improvement of the original Roomba design incorporating the Brava functionality, to some extent, but I need to continue to tweak the programming on the app and seek out tips and tricks (as well as supported bags and cleaning solution) to get a better idea of the mopping function over time and whether the simplicity outweighs the detail orientation of one of the two predecessors.

This is a really great vacuum and mop robot combo. It was easy to setup right out of the box. I was ready to go within 5 minutes, and most of that was due to an update, which is to be expected with anything software based nowadays. I set it up via the app. The voice on the dock is a nice touch too, it tells you what it's doing or about to do so you can prepare. The mapping process was also fast, like really fast. I expected it to take 30-45 minutes to map my home, but inside of 10 minutes it had already mapped the home, it didn't need to go through every nook and cranny, it was able to quickly determine the size of each or room and create a map I could easily edit. And then it was time to clean! It is a truly a combination, I see it vacuuming and mopping simultaneously which is a huge time saver. It is also doing so in a really organized fashion - going in straight lines across multiple rooms where there is door/entryway access, making it a much faster and efficient process. It also goes back to the dock when needed to empty the dirt and get more mopping solution if needed. And then it goes right back to where it was, directly and not haphazardly, and continues mopping. It also does a really great job of detecting the area rugs and carpets in my home, automatically lifting its mop pads so it doesn't mop the carpets but continues vacuuming. Overall, this is the best robot vacuum and mop combo I've ever owned. I highly recommend it!

Set up was easy and took maybe a maximum of 20 minutes. The longest part of the set up was waiting for the firmware to upgrade. The Plus 405 has a mop function with auto clean, and also has an auto-empty dust bin. Integration into Roomba Home's app is seamless. It found the robot in a few seconds, talked me though the wireless set up, and I was rolling. Initial mapping took about 15 minutes in my 2,000 square foot downstairs. Adjusting the map in the app was super simple. I only had to change one of the barriers that the auto-mapping had done, and then named all the rooms. I then sent the 405 on it's first cleaning run. It performed excellently. I like robot vacuums that have spinning cleaners for the mopping function versus the vibrating pads, as I feel like the spinning motion does a better job on hard floors. I do have some rugs here and there on the tile/wood floors, and the 405 auto-lifted the mop pads whenever it came in contact with them. No issues, no glitches, and the floors look amazing. I have two more expensive robot vacuum and mops, made by a different manufacturer, and the 405 holds its own easily.
