Innovative Design and Solid Performance
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 15 inch surface book 2 is an excellent device that marries form with function. Its innovative 2-in-1 design makes it truly stand out from the rest of the field. What I like: -The PixelSense display is absolutely stunning -Windows 10 really is the best Windows yet -Powerhouse performance thanks to a strong CPU, ample memory, and a discrete NVIDIA graphics. The Surface Book 2 will not disappoint in terms of handling pretty much anything you throw at it -Touch and pen input are a true joy to use -One of the nicest keyboards I have every typed on - great travel and responsiveness (although the backlighting could be better - see below) -Multiple configurations allow you to build a surface book that best meets your needs. -Surface Dock expands ports - I highly recommend purchasing the surface dock with this device. I wish there were more ports included on the device itself (see below) but the reasonably priced dock accessory somewhat makes up for it. What Could Be Better: -It's a shame that recently Microsoft has released two updates that caused issues and what is presumable its flagship device. The first update (May Update) caused the discrete graphics card to randomly disappear. The discrete graphics card was a major selling point for me, so this would be present an issue. Microsoft has since pulled the update while they work on a fix but it feels like releasing an update that you haven't fully vetted on a device that you manufacture is pretty sloppy and, honestly, a bit embarrassing. The second update appears to be more limited but some users have reported sever CPU throttling issues. Again, this shouldn't happen on a piece of hardware that carries the Microsoft name - if Microsoft has access to any devices to test its updates, one would think the Surface Book 2 would certainly be one of them! -I wish the track pad was slightly larger. It is an adequate size but, on the 15 inch model, there is plenty of real estate to make it even larger. -The device does tend to get pretty warm with moderate use - granted, there's a lot of power in this thing so it is not entirely unexpected. -Expensive. There's no question about it, you are paying a premium for a premium device. I was able to snag this on sale, which is the only way I would purchase it. -Limited ports - no explanation needed; there's just too few of them for a device at this price point -Pen sold separately: Again, at this price point, it would be nice not to have to shell out an additional $100 for the pen -Keyboard Backlighting: Lots of light bleed from the keyboard backlighting. This is a trivial issue but it does make the device feel cheaper/lower quality than it actually is Overall, I am very happy with the Surface Book 2. The issues I have highlighted are more than made up for by the positive aspects of this device. Microsoft has an excellent product here but, a few minor issues keep it short of perfection.

Exploring new options
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like all of my Apple devices that I have and am still happy with most of them. After researching the Microsoft Surface at Best Buy and online, I decided to take the plunge and try the Surface Book 2 out. For me the main upside is the touch screen on a laptop computer. Apple’s touch bar is far less user friendly than a touch screen for sure, I love my iPad Pro and wish Apple made a Touch Screen laptop. I was concerned about being able to navigate the Windows program since I am all in with IOS, but have been surprised that it is not as hard as it used to be. I did not grow up with computers nor have I used them extensively for a job, so the difficulties of adaptation to operating systems is very real for me. The Surface Book 2 is very fast and smooth in its operation, So far I like it a lot. The 15” screen is wonderful! I like the drawing features that are available for my husband to use as well. I look forward to seeing the cartoons he creates on it.

Like but don’t love as much as my Surface Pro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this an upgrade after my Surface Pro 3 screen cracked. It lightweight and conscientious. It some of the difference from the Pro make it a bit more less utilitarian. Not having a charging connection the tablet, no stand-up docking station(you cannot use the old Pro docking station), the removal of the display port adapter from the tablet. Maybe I just need to get used to it but so far it’s highly frustrating and I’m thinking of returning it and getting the new Pro.

The ultimate laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a freelance artist and 3D designer the Surface Book 2 gives me the freedom I was looking for to get myself unchained from the office. Not only is it powerful enough to run all of my graphic design software including memory draining 3D packages but it is so ergonomically diverse that I can use it in any situation. I would like to see more support for the surface pen which can be glitchy but still very useable. I thought I would miss my old Wacom tablet but the surface pen's shortcomings are made up by the portability of not having to plug in an extra peripheral.

Amazing Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seriously, this is one amazing laptop. Very slim, fast and quiet. I love how you can configure the screen for use as a laptop or notepad. As a photographer and videographer I love how I can use the Microsoft pen to do my post processing with photoshop and lightroom. It is seriously a game changer. I wish the laptop came with the pen. This is a very expensive laptop and it is a bummer that the pen is an extra purchase. Also, I'm still working on optimizing photoshop to process 42 megapixel images. It lags every so often, but it is rare. So far I'm impressed!

Easy for a Granny to navigate
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was kind of afraid that this would be too compllicated to use but it has been extremely easy. I like that the screen detaches but I have only done that to play some games. I don't like that the numbers are no longer on the right side of the keyboard because I used my old one quite often. I would recommend this laptop to a friend but would warn them about the price. I think it was overpriced for its capabilities.

Almost perfect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a SurfaceBook 1 and it's what I'm used to, a great laptop all around. Smooth with great looks and beautiful screen. Battery is great when used as laptop and a lil disappointing in tablet form. If I could change one thing I'd ask for a much larger harddrive. After installing my usual apps and Gears Of War 4 I've got only 45 gbs left. It's not so bad if you utilize a portable ssd.

The Best Surface to Date
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from my Surface and I am blown away by the vivid and crisp screen quality. Also, the processor is very fast, I've had no lag on bringing up multiple programs and multiple screens in Google Chrome web browser. The only thing I dont like, and it may be personal, is the touchpad. But I use a wireless Logitech mouse. Also. I use Dragonspeak which works great. Love this laptop!

Big Investment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced my 9 years old laptop with Microsoft Surface Book 2. It is very powerful and sleek. I use my laptop for school. It is easy to shift between multiple screens. In the other hand, I think it is a little overpriced. One can get a laptop that performs same and pay less. Also, after a month of use, the lid is not closing even. I

Great machine!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great machine for a mobile graphic designer. Windows has been a bit buggy. UI file picker issues and random program crashes. Overall, I am pleased with it. Get 5hrs or so out of battery running graphics software. Screen is very responsive with no lag while sketching.

Overall Performance meets my need
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall performance of the systems meets my needs. The system is over priced especially considering the size of the solid state drive. If I had it all over, I would purchase a larger solid state drive. 256GB did not meet my needs. Had to purchase a 4TB external drive.

Great computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wish it had an HDMI output and came with a Windows ink pen. also, most laptops of this caliber come standard with a terabyte hard drive. Other than that, very good picture, easy to use, and detachable tablet feature is awesome.

Awesome device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very expensive but unique in its qualities and quirks. Wasn't what I wanted, but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had previously purchased a Surface Pro 1. It finally went belly-up, brick, when the Surface Pro 4 came out. I picked up the Surface Pro 4 and a year so in found that I had a dead pixel. I returned the Surface Pro 4 to Best Buy to get it fixed or replaced or whatever they decided to do based on the extended warranty. My only beef is that apparently no one likes the big machines. They didn't have a Surface Pro 4 of the same size as mine nor they did to have one bigger. I was left to look for something else. I was sworn against the Surface Book when it first came out but in all reality it was about all that was left viable for me that day. I picked up the Surface Book 2 15in and it does fine.

Great MacBook Pro Alternative

Not Bad, Not Great.
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good quality, good screen inspite lack of Wide Color Gamut support, Lack of Proper support for really using the power in the case, when running the system at full tilt computer has to draw from battery which is killing it. Honestly. I have no battery life, a few hrs at most by a few I mean 2 or 3. But otherwise a good computer and a very nice display, but really wish it was easier to get cases. This is coming from someone who works for this company btw.

Go for the smaller screen
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this after having looked at the Surface Pros for quite awhile and deciding I needed a laptop more than a tablet. It’s pretty thick, so if you’re looking for a sleek slim notebook this is not it. That being said, I love it. The only recommendation I have is to go with the smaller screen (same model but 13”) if you plan to use as a tablet. The screen disconnects, which is cool, but creates a REALLY big tablet that isn’t the most functional. Love the extra battery life. I use this for school quite a bit and only have to charge it every few days.

Great 2 in 1
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always wanted this 2 in 1 but the price was always high and still is but I recently purchased it because it was on sale for $300 off the price. I really wanted to wait for the Surfacebook 3 because MS screwed up not implementing a thunderbolt port. But it wasnt a big deal breaker. I just hope it last a a couple years for the price it is.
