So this is my first “robot” vacuum. I named him Jeff lol. While his battery last for ever, his canister is very small and I usually have to stop him every fifteen minutes to dump it out. He also has got caught on my dogs tail repeatedly. The bristles on the outside that spin will continue to twist even after it wraps up. She’s an older dog and isn’t bothered by sound or machines. Now I make sure to put a boundary around her so she doesn’t get caught. Also he has zero sense of direction. He just kind of randomly moves around. Also when I send him to dock he retaliates and almost purposefully gets him self stuck. He will go to the opposite side of a room away from the dock and go places he never does on clean lol.

The Shark ion Robot Vac (model RV763) is a really good product. The vac does a very impressive job of cleaning as a result of some impressive features. The robot easily connects to wifi through the Shark app. You can operate without wifi/app by manually pressing operating buttons on the top of the unit. The robot nests in its charging station and in a few hours it is ready to clean. The charging station can be placed conveniently near a receptacle and not take up much space. We have tile, hardwood floor, as well as laminate and the robot cleans all of them quite well. The built in sensors allow the robot to feel its way around your house as it cleans the floor. The rubber bumpers protect your walls and furniture. I am impressed to see that it picks up dirt and debris around the entire circumference of the robot. The dirt is pulled in and stored in the bin. The wheels allow the robot to move around multiple rooms and pass over floor moldings quite easily. As for cleaning, we own a cat and the amount of cat hair this unit picks up is incredible. It is incredible to see the amount of hair and debris this thing picks up. The lithium battery lasts a good long time. While manual operation is an option the use of the app really makes this robot a star. The app is very good. You can set schedules and operate the robot from anywhere you have internet access. You can program areas to avoid and areas to clean. The dust bin easily empties and snaps back in for the next cleaning. I can't find one thing to dislike about this robot vac. Shark made a very good product and provided an app that enhances the robot vac and brings out the best features.

Doesn't allow for newer 2.4 MHz wireless with newer security protocols, however you can changed from WPA3 and turn on dual protocols on your router after changing to WPA2 and setting it up, then will connect to device after the change back. This should save you about an hour of troubleshooting. Overall this is a great vacuum for the price, better than my iRobot used for the upstairs rooms, has higher suction and better coverage. I have never run out of batter on this thing and it covers the living room, dining room, kitchen and family room no problem.

Pro: -Simple to use -App and voice control Con: -Bounces around randomly -Suction power is okay -Dust can spill out when lifting the vacuum or when removing the bin -Pet hair clogs the bin -Maintenance This model has simple maneuverability, with it just going forward until it hits something, turns, and repeats. How well it covers an area really depends on the room. It’ll eventually cover the entire space but it runs at a random pattern so it can take quite a bit of time. Suction power is okay for light surface level cleaning, more suited for hard floors. There’s also a lot of maintenance needed after each cleaning. Performance The suction is not that strong and it doesn’t pick up dust along walls and corners. On hard floors, it can pick up small debris like cat litter and does a good job for fine dust. It has a harder time with carpet, picking up surface level dust. Bigger debris like confetti can be missed. It doesn’t do well with pet hair. It will pick it up but it will start getting caught within the combs and start blocking the dust bin. Maintenance The dust bin will have to be emptied after each use. The pre filter needs cleaning and any hair or large debris caught in the comb has to be cleared each time. The filter will need to be replaced periodically depending on use. Beyond those regular maintenance, the roller brush can be removed and cleaned or replaced if needed. The App and Voice Control The app functions are somewhat limited for this model. It only allows for remote start and stop. Schedules can be set up for each day of the week, but it didn’t work for me. For Alexa voice commands, you need to download the skill and link your account. Battery The battery can run up to about 2 hours. It should be enough to clean an average sized room. It took about 30-60 minute to clean one room. Final Impression If you need a simple cleaner for light work and don’t mind the little vacuum running around and bouncing into things, then it’s fine. If you have pets then this may not meet your needs. The hairs will get caught up and start blocking the dust bin. There’s also a lot of maintenance to be done regularly.

Excellent Cleaning and a Smart Little Robot

This unit was very easy to install. You should download the Shark Clean app which will provide you the ability to control the unit from anywhere. The app can set up cleaning schedules and start/stop or dock the unit. The unit can also be controlled by Alexa or Google voice commands. You can even setup specific rooms and tell it to clean only some rooms. The app can show you a history of cleaning and even more important can show a map of the cleaned area (with the map you can see if some areas got skipped). Wow, long ago people took rugs outside and beat them with sticks; but cleaning has improved to where you just sit while the little robot does the work for you – nice. There are buttons on the device itself if you would rather just manually use this little cleaning robot marvel. Most important it cleaned 600 square feet of carpet and vinyl planking perfectly. It even seemed to buff the vinyl planking. It had no trouble moving from one type of surface to the other. It never skipped any areas and went up two different hallways that my house has and around an island and all the furniture in an open landscape floor plan. Its combination of two spinning side brushes and a brush roller collected a dustbin full of hair and dust particles even though my floors were just vacuumed. The sensors and bumpers are very well designed. It did not get stuck once in 4 cleaning events. The lithium battery handled the entire 70 minute cleaning and the unit returned itself to the dock every time. It can last up to 2 hours if needed for a cleaning cycle. It does have the cliff sensors which will prevent it from falling down stairs. The filter is washable for this device which is not always true of all robot vacuums. You don’t need to wash the filter every time, but I would recommend emptying the dustbin after each cleaning cycle – it’s kind of fun to see how much dirt and hair was picked up. I had older models of robot cleaners years ago. But this little wonder is so much of an improvement. The cleaning power is far better, the run time double, the motor is quieter and the sensors avoid getting stuck at all. I am very impressed with the price performance of this Shark robot vacuum and highly recommend it.

I have been a big fan of the Shark family of vacuum products for quite a while. I currently own some uprights as well as some other brands of robot vacuums. Unboxing and the setup process up was easy. After initially charging the Shark and a quick download of an App, it was ready for use. A few clicks here and there and it was ready to use. The vacuum is highly maneuverable and pretty quiet. I was pleased with how well it cleaned my floors and carpets. During my testing of the product, I actually used an upright vacuum in my home before I let loose the Shark. I was amazed that the Shark actually found more dirt which wasn’t initially sucked up by my upright! PROS: Control buttons are clearly marked and easy to use. Suction power is STRONG! Vacuum is easy to utilize on both hardwood/tile floors and carpeting. Vacuum is pretty light. Tri-brush system. Battery life is long. CONS: None in my opinion All in all, I'm enjoying this Shark vacuum. It's fantastic at picking up dirt during the first sweep of the floor. I found that my rooms were truly clean. What’s really nice is the tri-brush system which cleans edges and corners thoroughly. Cliff sensors ensure that the Shark doesn’t fall over the step into my sunken living room. I have a parrot who constantly sheds both small and large feathers and the Shark had no problem in cleaning them. It also picks up long hair with ease. I’m definitely loving this product! The Shark chews up the competition! Great product, buy one

Descent Robot vacuum but could be better

I was surprised by this little robot vacuum. This is Shark's entry level robot vacuum. It retails for $250 USD. This vacuum lets you start and stop cleaning and schedule your robot to clean whenever you want with the SharkClean app with one push of a button. You are now able to use Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant to easily make the robot clean at your command with just your voice. I had the battery last about an hour before it had to redock for a recharge. The recharge lasted about 3 hours. I have hard wood floors, linoleum, and rugs all over the house. And I do have to say that this vacuum did a very good job cleaning all the surfaces. BUT.... this vacuum would be absolutely perfect if I didn't have any chairs, benches, and tables. This thing ping ponged around for so long between the legs of the chairs and all of the furniture especially in the kitchen. This is where I think all of the battery power was spent lol. And since the vacuum would bounce and pivot to a different direction, I can see spots where the dirt wasn't swept up. Overall, this robot vacuum isn't bad. It cleans pretty good especially the open spots but has trouble within tight spots. And it isn't the speediest thing in the world. This is where the app comes in handy so you can set multiple cleaning times when you're not at home.

The Shark ION Robot Vacuum is an excellent robotic vacuum to have for cleaning your homes’ floors and carpets. I connected it with my Wi-Fi and became able to signal commands to the vacuum with the SharkClean app I installed on my phone. With extremely strong suction, it can run on Auto for full room cleaning and does an excellent job. A dirty carpet shows clean circular patterns after a run with the Shark ION Robot Vacuum. The strength of the battery is also shown through the app. I can also program the Shark ION Robot Vacuum to begin cleaning at a specific time every day. It works right out of the box, with plugging in the charging dock and snapping on the brushes and then using the SharkClean app to complete setup. The suction is extremely powerful for such a small vacuum cleaner. The tri-brush system picks up dirt from multiple angles. The Shark ION Robot Vacuum picks up dust, hair, dirt, small twigs and just about any item a large manual vacuum can pick up. It is a great addition to my homes’ cleaning arsenal.

Robot vacuums have come down considerably in price over the past five years. Even the base models are now including features like App control via wifi that were once reserved for top of the line products. This Shark vacuum is an example of a lower price point but featuring aspects that were once only found in higher priced models. Here you have app control via wifi that allows you to remotely start cleaning from your phone. I found this feature to be helpful and a nice feature. Overall set up of this vacuum is not unlike most devices. Since this has a battery, it is a good idea to bring this device to a full charge prior to first use. As I neared that max charge, I went through and installed the app and then proceeded to set up the wifi for the device. All told the process was a bit longer than I would have expected as the app and wifi setup took longer than in some other devices that I've added to the network. Allow for a longer time than normal before thinking things are wrong like I did the first time. I had abandoned the wifi setup figuring something was wrong. It just takes a while for the device to connect and set up. Once the app control was set up I then clicked on the app to start the cleaning cycle and the vacuum came to life and proceeded to clean. I easily had the vacuum working for over an hour and half though I noticed the machine was less than willing to find the base/charge station and to back up onto it than in some other vacuums I've owned. Again, it took so long to connect to the base station that I thought the unit was defective but it finally backed up and started charging. Emptying the debris holding area was fairly easy as the black button on the back allowed the bin to slide out. There are two finger grips built in to open the actual debris lid - mine was fairly non-cooperative to open but I put more force into it and it opened. I dumped the debris and closed the lid. Slid the debris bin back into the machine and let the vehicle charge. Overall this is a fine product - made by Shark/Ninja so it is of a name brand build and should last for several years. Most of the time in my experience the batteries in these robots are going to be the most expensive part to replace and sometimes it is just better economic sense to buy a new lower priced vacuum that will have more features than what you were trying to fix.

This is my fifth robot vacuum and my third Shark Ion Robot; all the Shark Robots remain actively cleaning, an honor not shared by another major brand in my house. My first Ion Robot was easily confused by wood floors. It would go a few feet, freeze, and start beeping. Eventually I moved it to a carpeted floor, named it “Stucky,” and it all worked out. My second Ion Robot is a rock star; with a map of the home in its memory and a self-emptying tray, it is the opposite of Stucky in price and capability. My third Ion Robot is the RV736 Series 3, which falls somewhere in the middle in both capabilities and price. The RV736 can be controlled through the Shark Clean app, which allows you to start the cleaning process and return the unit to its base from wherever you may be. Connecting to the app through WiFi is a simple process that’s well-orchestrated, and the app itself is easy to understand and use. You can also run the unit just fine using the buttons on top of the unit, as the only real advantage to the app is the ability to control cleaning when you’re away from home. Once connected and charged, the first thing you’ll notice is the start-up sound when it cleans. Rather than sounding robust like a powerful cleaning machine, it has an 80s video-game cheeziness to it, like it’s using a little piezo speaker. It’s a minor thing, but it is rather grating. Cleaning is largely what you’d expect. It does pick up dirt and pet hair well, with the bin being completely full after each run with everything from dog hair to pine needles. It’s simple enough the empty the bin, and the rotating brush cleans easily. There are a few issues. The RV736 runs until it senses an obstacle, then turns, which is what it should do. A patch of bright sunlight counts as an obstacle, and the Ion Robot made several motions to avoid said patches. It does not track well along walls, which is, of course, where most pet hair collects. Invariably, it will veer slightly, either directly away from the wall or toward it slightly. Moving toward the wall causes the bumper to activate, which turns the unit away from said wall, leaving the pet hair behind. It does sometimes get trapped between chair legs, and has already been rescued multiple times from under the dining room table. Overall, while a few things could be better the cleaning capabilities of the RV736 and long life of my other Shark Ion Robots make it a good value for those who don’t want to spend for the top-of-the-line model.

Capable Vacuum Once Connection Issue Resolved

I received this robot vacuum approximately 2 weeks ago and had to wait to review this product due to connection issues. Once the Shark Ion Robot was successfully connected to both the app and Wi-Fi it performed extremely well. Through the app one can set a schedule for cleaning, set max clean vs regular clean, start clean, stop clean and dock the robot. I tested the robot on regular clean setting on my hardwood floor in my downstairs, approximately 1000 sq feet. I put all the kitchen chairs and stools up on the table to get a thorough clean. I threw some extra dirt, sesame seeds, and sand on the floor in random areas to test it’s pick up power. It ran for about 70 minutes and to my surprise, the floor was completely clean except for the corners and under my kitchen cabinets as the robot was too tall to get under it. The rest of the floor was immaculate and the battery dtill had 50%. I then tested this on my upstairs carpet (approx. 800 sq feet) on max setting and it performed equally as well. It drained the battery a bit more and after a 50 min run time, it was at 50%. I tested the docking of the robot by putting it as far away from the dock station as possible and it found the dock within 2 minutes and docked perfectly. I will need to take off a star due to the connection issues, something that should not happen this day and age. I tried this in my 2 different homes that have different WIFI’s, with 2 different cell phones, did all the troubleshooting items recommended on the Shark website (reboot router, modem, cell phone and disabling 5GH band on router) to no avail. Called Shark customer service and spent 30 minutes on the phone going through the steps I already tried. As I was getting elevated to a higher tech support, the phone call was disconnected and when I called back, I had to go through everything again (another 30 minutes. I was finally escalated to the higher tech support and was told I would receive a phone call in 24-48 hours. I received the call in 48 hours, while at work and when I called back, I was told it would be another 24-48 hours to receive a phone call. Not the best customer service. I finally did receive that second phone call and the higher tech support was able to troubleshoot the issue by going to a specific website through a browser. Is it a good product, yes. Do I recommend the product for basic robot vacuum cleaning, yes. But the customer service – simply disappointing.

I have always been a fan of Shark robot vacuums and this one is no exception. So far I absolutely love this vacuum. Currently I have a 6 year old Shark as well as a new Roomba. This one is not only the quietest unit by far but also seems to pickup the best (the older shark is not far behind). We have 3 dogs, one of which being a Husky mix that is in the process of blowing her coat and this picked up all the hair with ease. The sound level of this vacuum is amazing. I have never had a vaccum so quite. This is an added bonus as we have a 2 month old baby and were able to run the vacuum without waking him up. The debris container is also larger than most other robots out there. This means it can clean longer before it becomes full. This is extra ideal when picking up the hair of 3 dogs from carpet. The battery life is also exceptional; it ran for over an hour before completing its run. It still had remaining battery life when it returned to its dock and i was able to empty it and send it back out for another hour of cleaning. The only thing that would make this better would be if it charted the room vs bouncing around like a ping ping ball- but with this being an entry model that type of function is to be expected.
