Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the ION Robot Vacuum's cleaning performance and ease of use, with many praising its strong suction and long battery life. However, some users experienced challenges with the robot's navigation, noting inconsistencies in its movement and occasional difficulties connecting to Wi-Fi. The app functionality also received mixed reviews, with some users reporting connection issues. While the price point is often cited as a positive, concerns remain regarding the vacuum's mapping capabilities and noise level.

Dosn't keep not finding it's housing. keep going over the same places and missing places, have no actual auto mapping where it know where he went and where he didn't. can't use your phone to control, unless you have wifi 2.4, I only had wifi 5 so I couldn't use it. ended up refounding it. got to say place it did pass was cleaning pretty well.

Its ok, it cleans well, definitely gets the job done. But its random, it doesnt have mapping so it will vacuum a spot over and over.

I love Shark upright Vacuums, but maybe I am crazy but I am not a big fan of this Shark. It's mapping stinks. Just jumps around and bumbs into things every 2 seconds. As others have said the App stinks as well. My inlaws got a cheapo Roomba and it works great i think i would do more research next time.

Mediocre suction at best. Doesn’t map your space like some of the other models. Just an ok option.

I have always been a fan of Shark robot vacuums and this one is no exception. So far I absolutely love this vacuum. Currently I have a 6 year old Shark as well as a new Roomba. This one is not only the quietest unit by far but also seems to pickup the best (the older shark is not far behind). We have 3 dogs, one of which being a Husky mix that is in the process of blowing her coat and this picked up all the hair with ease. The sound level of this vacuum is amazing. I have never had a vaccum so quite. This is an added bonus as we have a 2 month old baby and were able to run the vacuum without waking him up. The debris container is also larger than most other robots out there. This means it can clean longer before it becomes full. This is extra ideal when picking up the hair of 3 dogs from carpet. The battery life is also exceptional; it ran for over an hour before completing its run. It still had remaining battery life when it returned to its dock and i was able to empty it and send it back out for another hour of cleaning. The only thing that would make this better would be if it charted the room vs bouncing around like a ping ping ball- but with this being an entry model that type of function is to be expected.

Fairly bare-bones robot. Decent job cleaning.

I've been a fan of Shark (and Ninja) products for a while now and got this extra robot for our smaller living room. I've already got a shark mop/vac and have really liked it but I didn't think I'd need all of the extra AI features. I'm not 100% convinced that I don't anymore. If this was my first robot vacuum, I'd probably think it was cool and be fine with it but after spending years with a vacuum that has so many more features (by the same brand), I think I was just shocked at how much of a step backwards this guy was. Setup was fine depending on how you want to use it. If you don't want to connect it to your phone, just plug it in, let it charge and then press one of the buttons on top and let it do it's thing. It doesn't have any AI and doesn't make a map of your room or anything so it's all pretty basic. If you want to connect it to your phone and set up a schedule or anything, it should work fine. The setup process is simple enough. I had some issues that eventually got straightened out by their support after a bit of back and forth. After that was resolved everything worked fine. The performance of this bot isn't terrible but since it's not a smart robot, it can miss spots and/or it takes much longer to do it's job than a robot that'll learn and create maps of your room. This bot just works by running into something, turning and driving until it runs into something else. Rinse and repeat. It's a brute force method that mostly works but I did notice a spot or two that the bot had missed. There were a few more spots up against walls that were missed as well. I'm pretty sure a smarter robot would have been able to get these spots (they weren't in corners) but since the bot doesn't do a great job of hugging edges (since it doesn't know where edges are), it just has to happen across these spots with one of it's many passes. The time it takes to clean is also a lot more exaggerated since it doesn't have a map it can just trace over to make sure it got everything. The first room I did took over an hour to complete without being a super large or complicated room. The smaller room that the robot is living in takes a little less time but, again, I'm just used to my 2+ year old shark robot that uses a map to clean much more efficiently so it's probably more pronounced for me. I don't think I'll be getting any more "dumb" robots that just brute force the job by bumping and turning. It does a fairly good job cleaning (my carpets were quite dirty when I did my tests) but you're relying on the bot to just happen to clean everything. I wish there was a map that could be pieced together by just tracing the path the robot took but for the time being, all that's available in the app is a timeline of when the bot was activated, paused, docked, etc. That being said, Shark has always been really good about updating their app and providing extra features to my old AI robot over time so maybe it's something they can add to this bot in the future if the hardware is there to track it's path. If a more sophisticated robot with lasers and AI and mapping is out of your budget, this is a good starter bot. But if you're used to anything with a little more tech inside, this guy is going to get the job done.. usually.. and you'll probably be a little disappointed. This bot is a bit more affordable so it might work out perfect for you.

One bad experience aside, I have continually been a fan of Shark vacuums. Currently, I have a Shark Robot and hand vac downstairs and the same upstairs, and the RV763 was intended to replace an aging robot. Setting it up and connecting to Wi-Fi was quite easy. I have a cat and picking up cat hair is job one for any vacuum of mine. The RV763, even at the lowest power setting, does an effective job on both carpeted and wooden floors. Controlling the vacuum is easily done using the excellent Shark app, by voice via Alexa or Google, and manually via the easy to see onboard controls. The one thing that the RV763 does not have, as my other Shark Robots do, is a mapping function utilized before its first independent cleaning operation. Instead, this model relies solely on bumper sensors and cliff sensors. Unfortunately, this where the vac fails. On it’s first run, it ran around randomly and collided with everything in its way. It slowed for nothing: walls, furniture, etc. Hoping that issue would correct itself after getting familiar with the area, I cautiously tried again over three days. Nope, it still ran amok as if it were in a demolition derby. Never have I experienced this with any other Shark vacuum. Color-wise, it is a white Shark, but I doubt that explains the aggressiveness. Overall, as a vacuum, the RV763 does a decent job. However, performance comes at the potential cost of damage to walls and furniture. Only if a buyer plans to use it solely in an area that cannot be damaged would I recommend it.
