Customers are saying
Customers are enthusiastic about the ION Robot Vacuum's cleaning performance and ease of use, with many praising its strong suction and long battery life. However, some users experienced challenges with the robot's navigation, noting inconsistencies in its movement and occasional difficulties connecting to Wi-Fi. The app functionality also received mixed reviews, with some users reporting connection issues. While the price point is often cited as a positive, concerns remain regarding the vacuum's mapping capabilities and noise level.

Affordable and effective

It’s not as sophisticated as the laser-guided models, but instead, uses the “gently bump into things and change course” cleaning method. This gives it something of a pinball trajectory. I also own a Shark model that uses lasers and runs up and down in a seemingly more organized “lawn mowing” pattern. I did a side-by-side comparison by using my older Shark one time and then the new Ion model another time. Although the more “orderly” robot vac might seem more efficient, the new Ion picked up just as much dust as it’s laser-guided sibling. The dustbin on the Ion has been redesigned to make it easier to empty and clean. The filter placement is identical and still easy to remove, but the plastic mesh screen is now 100% visible and easy to brush clean when you open the clamshell dust compartment to empty it. A nice improvement! Another change, that I think is an improvement, is the Ion vac docks itself by “backing into” the dock (dustbin first). It may not make a big difference, but this means the next time the vac launches, it just heads out of the dock to get to work. it’s sort of like backing into a parking spot — it takes a little more effort, but it’s easy to head out when you leave

Great Robot that Cleans!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had the other brand of robotic vacuum for a number of years. An older model, then an upgrade about 3-4 years ago. We also have dogs. Well, we are down to one dog, but she sheds enough for a pack. Having a robotic vacuum is a necessity, as I am busy and tired. And I hate housework. I have carpet in the front half of the house, and wood floors with ruggables in the back half. I have had a shark stick in the past, and it did not get along with the ruggables. This bot has no issues with them. No curled corners, no trying to inhale the rug, just went right over it and cleaned. As you can likely tell, I am a big fan of this unit. That said, I gave it high marks for deep cleaning, but I am working on a bot scale. I will still run my Dyson, because I don't think it cleans as deeply as a regular vac and did I mention I have a dog? She not only sheds, but she tracks dirt...I will say I am taking less trips to the trash bin with the Dyson cup, so I think this Shark works pretty darn well. Bottom line - I was very surprised at the relatively low price of this unit. Well worth the investment.
