Excellent Cleaning but App Could be Better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used robot vacuums for a while now and have recently begun using those that can vacuum and mop as my first floor has no carpet, only a mix of engineered hardwood and tile. While the naming of this model could be better, I’ve been impressed with its cleaning abilities so far. While the vacuuming works very similarly to other robotic vacuums I’ve used in the past, I’m most impressed with the mopping as it’s much more involved. You can see the mopping pad moving back and forth, which does a better job than simply sliding across the floor. If it finds an area that is messier it will scrub harder. The base will also clean, rinse, and dry the mop pad, helping to kill bacteria, reduce odor, and extend its lifespan. The dirty pad water is then collected in the gray water tank, which must be flushed down the toilet periodically. When it’s in vacuum-only mode it will remove the mopping pad and leave it on the base. The robot became stuck once, and it alerted me to the issue. I watched it spin in place and jump up and down for a bit before it gave up, and the app said one of the wheels was obstructed. Sure enough, there was a straw wrapper wedged into the left wheel. I was happy to see that it was able to resume the job where it left off after I removed the wrapper. My biggest complaint is with the app and its mapping feature. I have about 2000 sq. ft downstairs, and during initial setup it will do its “explore” run which I would expect it to do. I left some obstacles in the way, and kept some doors closed as I assumed I could just run more explore sessions like I can on competitor’s bots to get it to update the map, but this does not seem to be possible. What I’ve found with the Shark is that I have to completely delete the map and re-run the explore process again. The robot will find the areas and even show them as cleaned in the post-report, but it doesn’t update that initial map. There are still gray blocks on my map where my dining room and bar stools were, even though I’ve moved them around, I cannot select those areas if I want to do a spot clean there. As far as I can tell, the only way to fix this is to make sure everything is off the floor, open all doors, delete the map and let it explore again. The good news is the LiDAR sensor on top of the robot makes this process extremely fast, as it does not need to traverse every inch of your floor to map it. There also does not seem to be a way to go back and view previous cleaning reports either. As far as maintenance goes, the “NeverTouch” marketing is a little misleading. Sure, you can probably go a full month with scheduled cleaning and never lift a finger. Eventually you will need to perform some tasks, and there’s quite a bit to keep up with. The base requires refilling the water and cleaning solution, emptying the dirty mop water, and emptying the dustbin around every 30 days. The dustbin is very large and should make it at least 30 days even for messy households. Fortunately, there are no bags to buy or replace, simply empty it into the trash. There is also an odor neutralizer that needs to be replaced every six months. There are two filters in the base, one that needs to be cleaned every 30 days, and the other being a HEPA filter that needs to be cleaned every 6 months. For the robot, there is another filter that needs to be replaced every 6-12 months. Despite only using it a few times I already needed to unravel hair from the brush roll, but it was easy to remove and clean. The robot only comes with a small sample of mopping solution to fill the water tank just once, and 1 additional side brush. There are no additional odor neutralizers or mopping pads included. According to the manual, the mop pad only needs to be replaced every 24 months and is machine washable. Pros: - Excellent mopping performance - Auto-detects carpets - Machine can lift several inches over obstacles or thresholds. - Spot-cleaning feature - 360-degree LiDAR navigation - Relatively quiet - 3-Hour battery run-time - Bagless System - Auto-washes and dries mop pad with heat - Includes an extra side brush - Supports Alexa and Google Assistant - Two-Year Warranty Cons: - Mapping limitations in app - NeverTouch branding is misleading - No additional mopping pads, odor neutralizers, filters, or solution included Overall – The Shark PowerDetect ThermaCharged is the best performing robot vacuum and mop system I have used so far. Cleaning performance is excellent, and the automatic mop maintenance is a major advantage over older models that I’ve used. The only real disadvantage is some quirks in the software such as the floor map does not seem to get updated even when the bot has discovered and cleaned new areas.

Does a great job cleaning but software not perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been quite frustrated with my previous robo vacs from another big name and had to try something different. Let’s see if the Shark PowerDetect ThermaCharged Robot Vacuum lives up to my standards. Packaging was sufficient with no damage, unboxing and setup with the phone app was quite quick and easy. One note on the setup is the Shark Clean app directions were wrong on setting up the Wifi, you need to look at the quick start card included with vac for the wifi connection directions. (This could be fixed in the software/app by the time you read this). The vac was shipped with 40% charge, and based on the app, needs 50% to do its first explore run, so expect to wait a bit after powering it up. I wish the power cord was a little longer, I had to use a short extension cord to locate the base where my previous one was. After I finished the setup, I tried to register the Shark PowerDetect through the app and kept getting a “Something went wrong. Please try again” error. When the unit finally hit 50% charge and I sent it out on the exploring run, I immediately got a “dirt sensors need cleaning” error in the app. It continued and this error has not shown up again and everything seems normal. The mapping run went quick, only took 10-15 minutes Setting up the map in the app for zones, rooms, etc went ok, but not perfect. My first time through the setup and edit took about 20-30 minutes, I saved the map and when I went back in the app map, none of my edits were saved and I had to start over. The second time went a little quicker and saved properly. When creating a no-go zone, there is a limit for how small of a no-go zone you can create. I am unable to create a zone small enough for a standard couch or other small spots I don’t want it cleaning or trying to clean. Having that all done, I was finally able to schedule the cleaning and let it clean the house. I ran the first one while I was home so I could monitor it and make sure everything went ok. The navigation seems to work well overall and it doesn’t waste time trying to figure out where it is or needs to go. The carpet detection also works well lifting the mop at proper times when needed, but the obstacle detection wasn’t perfect, it ran right over some extension cords we had temporarily laying on the floor. It didn’t get tangled up with them either, it just ran right over them. Overall noise level while running seems quieter than other robo vacs I’ve had. When the Shark parks at the NeverTouch base after a job, the self empty is quite a bit quieter than others I’ve had, but runs a little bit longer. The mop cleaning and drying process is also pretty quiet. After running a daily cleaning schedule for a week or so I can add the following comments. The Shark Power detect does seem to find a good amount of ‘debris’ in our house, even though we keep the house pretty clean with no pets or kids. I was most impressed by the amount of dirt the mop seems to find, the waste water tank was pretty dirty. Shark did include a bottle of cleaning solution concentrate for the first clean tank fill. After the first week or 2 I already received an alert on the app that the clean water tank was empty. If you're mopping every day you might have to refill every couple weeks. I’m ok with that because I think the reciprocating mop on the Shark is actually cleaning up layers of dirt the previous mop dragging vac left. In the first couple weeks I’ve only had 1 instance of the Shark not making it back to the base, it got hung up on the edge of a rug thinking it was stuck on a cliff. Otherwise it’s been cleaning while we are at work, and making it back to it’s base with no help from us. Even though the mapping is accurate, on the daily scheduled runs it likes to skip 2 rooms even though I’ve verified doors were open and nothing was blocking it from going into the rooms. If I schedule a cleaning on just those 2 rooms, it has no problem going there to clean. After a cleaning run you will get a notice in the app that shows you areas that were cleaned. I see no way of looking at a history of cleans, it only shows the last clean. Bottom line in my opinion, this Shark PowerDetect ThermaCharged Robot Vacuum is not perfect, I have not had any robo vacs that were. It does however, do a very good job cleaning with minimal fuss from you. Most of the quirks I’ve found seem to be software related so hopefully Shark is listening and can do updates. This Shark comes in at a great price point for the value you get and how well it works doing it’s most important job, cleaning. Hopefully it holds up long term as most Shark products do.

A really good vacuuming and mopping robot!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve used cleaning robots for years. This particular Shark unit is my tenth such robot, although the first from Shark. Most had been vacuum only, with the last three offering dual cleaning - vacuuming and mopping. My previous unit, obtained from a different vendor, was also dual cleaning. It did a good job vacuuming, but fell short on mopping. This is the reason I chose to try this Shark product. It seems like many models on the market share similar features. For example, creating a digital floor map of my home, then allowing me to split and merge rooms, and naming individual spaces. Looking at the map on my previous model, you’d see a Master Bedroom, Master Bathroom, Closets, Hallways and more. Having the ability to specifically name your rooms was a handy feature to have. This Shark robot lets you name rooms, but sorely lacks the ability to clearly denote which one you want. As a better example, I have multiple Hallways in my house, Entrance Hallway, Master Hallway, and Laundry Hallway. In the Shark robot, all you have to choose from is Foyer, not which specific foyer. With my former robot, I could tell it to clean my Master Bedroom, or Guest bathroom, or Closet. Or any combination therein. Unfortunately, not so with the Shark robot. Getting the Shark robot ready for use for the first time was straight forward. Yes, I had to create an online account, but registration and account creation was a simple process. Although not needed for vacuuming, I still filled the robot’s freshwater reservoir with distilled water and added a bottle of Shark VacMop. A small bottle of Shark VacMop is included with the robot. Using the app, I kicked off the vacuuming effort. I didn’t have any previous experience with Shark robots or how well they worked, but the results were quite good. And I was pleasantly surprised that it only used about 50% of available battery. My old robot would consume almost 90% of its battery doing the same work. Vacuuming mode cleans floors and carpets, while mopping intentionally skips anything that resembles carpet. After vacuuming the house, I allowed the Shark to recharge to 100% battery, then tested its mopping abilities. Just like vacuuming, mopping consumed approximately 50% of the robot’s battery. During mopping mode, the rear of the robot is lifted off the ground anytime it goes over carpet to ensure that the carpet doesn’t get wet from the mopping pad. This lifting feature was also available on my previous robot, and it worked well there, too. Once the robot is back on hard flooring, the mopping pad once again repositions to the floor. By the end of the mopping cycle, the freshwater reservoir – which sits in the docking station - was reduced by half. Obviously, how much water is used is based on the number of floors the robot has to clean. Still, I thought the robot did a good job managing its water supply. More importantly, I thought the Shark did a great job mopping my floors – the stated reason I went to this robot. All in all, I like the Shark robot. Yes, it did have some app issues that I was never able to get past, but it cleaned well and seemed to get into every nook that it encountered, plus its mopping performance was 5-star good. I went back and forth on how to rate this unit. I thought its vacuuming and mopping were both 5 stars. Glitches in the app resulted in me subtracting 1 star. As such, I’m giving it a 4-star rating. I think a 4.5-star rating would have been appropriate, but the reviewer’s app did not permit it.

Vacuum that mops and self cleans.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Never touch robot vacuum cleaner offers a simple solution to your every day needs. With its ability to detach its mop head to allow for a better vacuum then reattach when its time to mop really helps to take some of the mess out of your everyday chores. So out of the box you get everything you need to get you going and set up is done within minutes. I have personally never cared for robot vacuums that double up with a mop head as they tend to never do a good job and in some situations can create a bigger mess. Shark has definitely made a huge improvement in this category. One of the first things i noticed is the unit, after it gets done learning your room, will actually detach its mop head and leave it at its base station while it goes around the room to vacuum. Vacuuming is done with a center roller brush and a single side bristle. I wasn't too sure about the single side bristle instead of having two, but the unit does a good job at following the edge line and blows out all dust and debris along the edges making for better pickup. When attempting to go over raised platforms, it no longer gets stuck as it has the ability to lift itself up making traversing uneven planes a breeze. Once it becomes time to mop it will make its way back to its base station, reattach its mop head, fill its tank, and then proceed to mop. The mopping process was actually quite impressive with the units mop head moving side to side to mimic a scrubbing motion and then doubling back over stains on the floor that were not properly removed. When mop time is done or it detects it needs a cleaning the vacuum will make its way back to its station where the mop head is then cleaned all by itself. This is done by spraying water over the mop and then using roller like arms that travel across the mop head cleaning off dirt and debris and making it ready for another run. Emptying the waste bin and refilling the water tank is easy and requires you to not have to get your hands dirty by a simple release chute in to the trash can. I do have two gripes as a shark owner of multiple vacuums. The app software still feels dated and offers very limited options. There is no bi-level settings and functionality is very limited to some very key features. The app kept having constant issues and most times i struggled to access my vacuums current location. Second battery life still seems average with current run time averaging about an hour to a hour and a half. That may seem like a decent amount of time but when you take in to consideration square footage and the amount of time needed to do a proper job, that truly only leaves enough time to do one single large room, such as a kitchen or dining room. With that being said this unit still does a awesome job at both vacuuming and mopping and is sure to help free up some time from your day to day chores.

Heated Cleaning is the Way
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As the owner of two long hair and two short hair cats, you I can’t really clean my floors often enough. I was very excited to see how they’ve taken what was already a great vacuum and use heat to clean and dry the mop pad to make it even better. --==Cleaning==-- Shark uses LiDAR and camera system to build a map of your home, navigate each room, and detect dirt and obstacles. It has different sensors for detecting floor type and extra dirty areas. I like how it drops the mop pad off to hit the carpets and area rugs and picks it back up to vacuum and mop the hardwood floors. Like mentioned, I can end up with pet hair and it sometimes can make its way to the corners and walls where some vacuums might struggle to clean. The dry edge detect which blasts air down in the area to push debris out where it can be picked up is a feature that works really well with the pet dander. Once the vacuum run is done, it makes its way back to the base, dumps the debris it found, and picks up the mop pad. The mopping is probably my favorite part of having a robot vacuum and I love the added features that come with the ThermaCharged model. The base has both a clean and dirty tank. The clean tank fills the Shark robot that pre-wets the mop pad and goes to work. It oscillates as it mops giving a gentle scrub as it traverses the home. I find that it does an excellent job of staying on top of keeping the floors clean. It did well detecting an area where my cat had vomited, making extra passes in the area to clean it up well. The floors do get wet but it’s not excessive and dries within 15-20 minutes. It does a great job at obstacle avoidance and can prevent itself from getting stuck by raising itself up to get over area rugs or hardwood to carpet trim that may be difficult for other robot cleaners. It will also raise itself up on area rugs to prevent from getting them wet. I also like the obstacle avoidance. It does a great job of moving around items that have a bit of height to them. It did struggle a bit with longer “snake” like toys we use to play with the cats. I recommend using the app to schedule a time to clean the floors for when you’re home and do a quick sweep of the area to pick up any low profile items you don’t want swept up. Aside from being able to target certain rooms for cleaning, you can also spot clean, if you have an area within a room that needs attention, you can send the vacuum there for a quick cleanup. Once done it goes back to the base for some heated cleaning. The base uses hot water and a brush system to clean the mopping pad. Previous models did not have a heated feature, so while it would still get clean, it didn’t kill odor generating bacteria the same way soap and hot water together does. Because of this, you’re mop pad isn’t spreading bacteria from the mop pad when it cleans the floors. The heated dry too is nice because it takes less time to dry the mop pad so you don’t have the fan running quite as long. After about a week of owning and using daily, I picked up the robot and sniffed to see if there was odor, and could only smell the scent of the cleaning solution. --==Setup and Maintenance==-- Setup wasn’t too difficult. I recommend taking a few minutes to make sure you remove all necessary tape that is used for shipping. Read all labels and watch the setup video you can access by scanning the QR code on the paper located inside the box. Shark has a few videos loaded up that has a bunch of helpful information, including maintenance and cleaning. Using the app to setup, it will walk you through exactly what you need to do to get it going on the wi-fi. Once on wi-fi, you’ll do a map run, identify rooms with carpet and area rugs, and make map edits. The clean and dirty water reservoirs easily come out of the base for cleaning. The dust bin pulls out and can be emptied in the trash can, no need to keep dust bags. A lot of the sensors can be cleaned and wiped off with a clean cloth. The brush rollers are held in place by cover that comes off easily without tools, as well as the brush. I use a paper towel to wipe away any dust or debris where the dirt is pulled in. Sometimes this area gets build up as the dirt and water can combine and start to layer on the surface. Cleaning it takes all of about 15 minutes as you’re just staying on top of keeping sensors clear and the rest free of build up. The app allows you to setup schedules, customize the map, and only clean specific rooms or spots in rooms. You can also look at a report of the last clean to see what areas were cleaned and when neverstuck activated so you can adjust or pick up obstacles. --==Other Thoughts==-- I’m happy with navigation and obstacle avoidance, however, on a few occasions I’ve had it to bump my feet or the rotating brush hitting my foot. I’m not sure if this is avoidable as I move through my home, but it has never hurt me, and I just nudge the bump sensor in the front to “shoo” it away. I have a light weight area rug in both my living room and a few in my kitchen that it likes to push up or push around as it goes. The vacuum does fine with the heavier rugs, but does struggle a bit with pushing the others around or up, so something to be aware of. The app isn’t bad but I think they have room for improvement. It just feels a bit dated and could use an artistic touch. It has improved over time and I believe because a lot is dependent on communication back from the vacuum, it’s gotten speedier and more responsive as the vacuums have gotten more advance. One thing I wish they would add is the ability to detect carpets without having to basically reset the whole map. People update their homes and rearrange furniture; I’d love to remap a room rather than the whole house. You can also use the app to setup smart home features such as Alexa or Google. I would love to see a HomeKit option as I prefer to keep my smart home devices in one place. However, it’s neat that you can be completely hands-free using commands to start cleaning jobs. --==Final Thoughts==-- It’s so easy with hardwood floors to see when your floors are dirty. It’s even worse to walk through barefoot and feel when your floors are dirty. I can walk through my home knowing my floors are clean. Only needing to clean and maintain the vacuum once a month is convenient, and honestly, I end up with cleaner floors because I’m more willing to use it. I think heat cleaning the mop pad should be a new standard as it prevents bacteria growth and odors. There’s still a longer term review to see how the Shark holds up and if every 30 days continues to be the correct interval for maintenance, but for now, I’m impressed.

A good evolution of the Mop Vac Robot
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used robot vacuums for nearly 10 years now and they've constantly evolved but have kind of hit their limit in what they can do as a vacuum. They'll clean 80-90% of loose bits on your floors but won't touch anything heavier and may also miss some corners. Then about 5 years ago, robot vac makers started trying to tackle heavier stains and messes with the built-in mop function and the results have been mixed. Without heat or a battery-draining active brush and mop roller along with water, those messes just weren't going to come out. I've tried 2 of these wet vac mop robots and they've been pretty bad, so I was excited to see Ninja was making a new unit since Ninja tends to get this kind of thing right. While this unit is better than the previous units I tried and returned, it still isn't perfect. What it does do well is: 1. Easy maintenance and "NeverTouch" functionality where it self-empties the dust bin and also cleans the mop head, and refills the water tank. I personally still recommend emptying the dirty water after each use otherwise it can get pretty gross. The use of hot water and hot air does a great job of cleaning and sanitizing the mop head. 2. Does a great job of cleaning on both carpets and hardwoods. Also does a good job of moving up and down thresholds and lifting the dirty mop pad on carpets. 3. Long runtime which can let you do your entire home with minimal charging interruptions. Also relatively quiet compared to other units I own, so you can use this while you sleep with minimal interruption. As mentioned, this isn't something that is going to handle big messes or caked on messes. You'll still need to put some elbow grease into deep cleaning, but using this Ninja regularly will make it a lot easier between deep cleans. Price is steep but has been on heavy sale during the holidays. Maybe this is just the actual price at roughly half of MSRP? With so much competition in this space it makes sense. The base station is kind of bulky especially with the empty bins and water reservoir, so that is something to keep in mind. Overall I think this unit looks and works great, the best robot mop vac I've ever used. That said, I don't think these things are the future. I think we'll get a little robot that looks like a small dog sooner than later that will handle all of this cleaning, and do it better. Maybe in the next 5-10 years as AI and robotics evolve? I would pay a LOT for something that would do all that cleaning well, until then I expect Ninja to keep improving on their robot mop vac systems.

Robot vacuum cleaners just keep getting better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We’ve owned two previous robot vacuum cleaners, and the Shark PowerDetect ThermaCharged Robot Vacuum and Mop makes our third. From the first one until this Shark, I’d say that they just keep getting better and better. First came the unpacking. This shark robot vacuum was packed in the box very well, and it was easy to take out and do the physical set up. I like to say that robot vacuum cleaner setup is not the most user friendly and Shark does not give clear instructions on how to fully clean the robot when needed. The Android phone app was easy to install, and my Shark account was a breeze to set up. Robot vacuum cleaner setup has never been a plug-and-play endeavor. It is not for the tech non-savvy or for anyone who fears technical devices. It is not something you want to purchase and have shipped to your elderly grandmother who has trouble using her cell phone. You will not be doing her the favor you think you are. Maybe someday, but robot vacuum cleaners have not reached that point yet. Once the Shark was all set up and the robot was docked in its station, we let it fully charge the first day. The second day we turned it loose and let it map the house. That took several hours as we expected it would. It seemed to do a pretty good job of that, and we just let it wander and tried to stay out of its way while it mapped the house. Just like with our previous robot vacuum cleaners, we have yet to trust the Shark Robot Vacuum Cleaner’s cliff sensors at the top of our basement steps. So, we keep a gate there that prevents it from getting too close to the edge. I’m sure the cliff sensors will work fine, everything else does, but we have a 9-foot finished basement and that’s a lot of steps for it to fall down. So far, we’ve been unwilling to risk it. But that’s on me and is not the fault of the vacuum cleaner. Later that second day, we let it start cleaning and it mopped and vacuumed the 2,050 square foot main floor really well. It has a rotating corner brush on the side of the vacuum cleaner that does a wonderful job cleaning in all the corners where debris collects. Especially in the kitchen where debris gets collected in the corners of the kitchen cabinet’s toe kick. The robot vacuum senses the difference between our bare hardwood floors and the throw rugs we have scattered about. We do not have any carpet in the house and so this is a bare wood floor and throw rug situation which is a cakewalk for robot vacuum cleaners. When the Shark Robot Vacuum Cleaner happens upon a throw rug it climbs on top of the throw rug and increases the suction power. When it climbs down off the throw rug back onto the bare hardwood floor, it reduces the suction down a bit to the bare floor setting. If you have a throw rug that has lost its nonslip grip on the bare floor, the robot vacuum cleaner will push it around and never be able to climb on top of it. So, we had one old throw rug that we had to replace. The robot vacuum cleaner climbs on top the new throw rug just fine. One thing I wish is that we could set up non-vacuum spaces or things the robot vacuum cleaner should go around so you don’t have to pick up every little thing that is always in the same spot every time you use it. Yes, we can block out rooms, but it would be nice to block out a few square feet in the middle of the room. For instance, we have a protective silicone mat for the pet water to sit on, and the robot vacuum cleaner doesn’t know how to avoid it and if we fail to pick it up, it will attempt to wad it up. Another, for instance, is the master bath shower that has a slight wheelchair ramp from the bathroom floor to the shower floor. If we don’t bend a pool noodle to block access to the shower, the robot vacuum cleaner will go into the shower and start vacuuming on the wet floor. I like the fact that there is a concentrated cleaning solution that goes in the clean water hopper, so it is not just water cleaning the floors. The Shark Robot Vacuum Cleaner seems to do a better job of mopping the floors than our previous robot vacuum cleaner. The Shark doesn’t wet the floor too much and the floor dries within a couple minutes after the robot has passed that point. Overall, I feel I could recommend this Shark to anyone who is looking for a robot vacuum cleaner. They’ve come down quite a bit in price over the last 10 years since our first one and at the same time increased their accuracy and what they can do. Just remember that all robot vacuum cleaners have a somewhat steep learning curve and that is the price that you will pay for the convenience of not having to walk all around your house once a week lugging a vacuum cleaner.

Gamechanging
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am coming off a Roomba with a Braava Jet robot to this SharkClean one, and the difference is night and day. I am extremely happy with this product. Unboxing is a bit weird since there is no manual to speak of (which is becoming a trend nowadays). But a few basic instructions on 1 piece of paper and a QR code for an app. You setup the ramp on the base station, attach the included side brush (you get an extra for later) onto the robot, and manually slide it backed up into the base station to charge and wake up. There are instructions on the paper to fill up the water reservoir and install the deoderizer.. The app's setup UI is not totally intuitive. Especially, when you have to name your robot, there is no save or next button just a close button. And once you click that it takes you to the main home page, but in a way that makes it feel like the setup wizard wasn't done yet and you somehow missed some setup steps. Well in this belief I spent dozens of mins trying to remove the robot from my account and reset it so I could reinitiate the setup (easier said than done). Well on the 2nd go round with the exact same behaviour I realized, nope that's just where the setup wizard ends. On the home page it seems like you can start using the robot now, but somehow the page changes (after some unknown time), to prompt you to send the robot on a mapping run. Which I promptly did, by making all the rooms as accessible as possible. This is where I started realizing how far ahead this is compared to my previous Roomba. This does NOT go and navigate every square inch of every single room. This thing is basically using it cameras and sensors to just "look" at each room's sides and edges so maybe has to traverse 20-25% of the area - look around and knows the map. Mind... Blown... Once the mapping run is done, it also already knows where the carpetted areas are, even if a room is partially carpetted, it knows the exact area (which is useful when you send it on a mopping run). Once the map is created, you can go in and name all the rooms, split rooms or merge them as you see fit. Now that the setup is done, you can set the schedule. For individual days of the week you can set multiple times for the robot to go on a vacuum run or mop run for specific rooms, or whole house vacuum + mop. You can also setup do not disturb timings, so that if a run goes on for long and the DND time starts, the robot comes back to the docking station. You can setup some other behaviour in the app like - resume after recharging if the battery becomes low during a run, set the power level of the vacuum suction, set the amount of water mopping uses. Now lets come to the actual cleaning - I can't find a fault with it. Vacuum runs are thorough and mopping method is better than I have seen in any of my previous two - Braava(Roomba) or Deebot. It might just be that this is the latest model, but boy is this good. It automatically attaches or leaves the mopping attachment in the base station depending on the run its on. (wow). For mopping it moves the mop left and right on the floor for actual cleaning motion. If it has to traverse a carpetted area to go to a non-carpeted area, it even lifts up its rear end to not wet the carpet (mind blown again!!!). Once the run is complete, it automatically comes back to the base and start cleaning the mopping pad automatically, drains the dirty water from the mopping + the pad cleaning into the grey water reservoir and then starts drying the pad automatically. On vacuuming runs I have personally witnessed its "dirty area found" mode, where it realizes that a particular area is extra dirty and so auto increases its suction power and goes over that area more thoroughly. You can manually initiate spot cleaning as well for a particular area and not the whole room if you want to. What more can I say, its a definite yes for me. Sure the setup wizard could be more intuitive, and the roller brush perhaps makes a bit more sound than I would have liked. But it does everything so so well.

Improvement over the last model, still a great buy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Robot vacuums are getting more and more reliable each year, and this latest iteration of the PowerDetect series from Shark is no exception. It has noticeable improvements over the last model, while retaining all of the great qualities from before. While there are many choices on the market for robot vacuums, Shark has put out a very competitive model that makes it hard not to choose this one over the others. To start off, the NeverTouch base lives up to its name. It is able to smartly handle emptying the vacuum and wash and dry the pads making the only interaction required between you and the robot is through the mobile app. The dust bin and water tanks in the base have a generous capacity, and are extremely easy to empty/refill without spilling anything in the process. All the dust filters are accessible without much hassle or moving the base from its original position. It is a great feature to have all of the filters washable and no dust bag to deal with; the only consumable item needed is water and some cleaning solution. One improvement over the last model is the ability to detect obstacles like wires or shoes, especially in low light conditions. This is likely due to the light that now turns on when it is dark enough. The route it uses to clean your floorplan is efficient and cleans everything in an organized manner. This can all be monitored from the mobile app, which is extremely easy to use for scheduling or configuring options on the robot itself. While this vacuum does a good job most of the time, it is not perfect and it shouldn’t be expected to be perfect. It is not the best when there are varying floor types in inconsistent places, such as rugs on a hard floor. The constant lift up seems to make it lose some vacuum power and because of that there can be debris missed on the rug sections. In addition to that, while it does a good job to not get your carpeted sections wet, there can be a situation where it’s on a hard floor but straddling parts of a rug and so there would be about an inch of overlap where it’s mopping the rug. Overall, if I had to choose again, this would be the robot vacuum to get based on all its features and conveniences available. If you already own the previous model, it might not be a big enough improvement to get this one, unless the heated washing of the pads provides a better peace of mind for you.

The best robot vacuum so far!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best robot vacuum that I've ever had! The out of the box experience was simple, and after installing the app, a small bit of configuring, and Rosie 2.0 was mapping the floor. You can name it whatever you want to in the app. Once that was done, I sent her out on her first vac and mop job. It had no problems going from wood floors to the tile floor of the bathroom, to the carpets in the bedrooms. It had no problem with the area rugs in the living room and the dining room. It did occasionally move the rugs, so I'll probably have to get some rug tape to hold them in place. I set up a schedule for her to run while the house is empty and it's nice to come home to clean floors. And of course, you can send her out any time you want to through the app. It's neat to watch it come back to its home base, it approaches it, spins around and backs up onto the home base. My previous robot vac just pulled into the base and backed out when in use. Another neat feature is when you tell it to go mop, it knows where the rugs and carpet is and won't mop that area. I really like this one and Rosie 2.0 will be around for a long time. FYI, Rosie 1.0 was a different brand and was given to my son for his house,

Excellent Robot Vacuum/Mop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I finally got around to mapping the house with this Shark robot. I have had two other brands for comparison and this one was BY FAR the easiest to set up. The app is very simple to navigate and within ~10 minutes you are up and running. Physical set up was also a breeze! The accuracy of the map is very impressive with only a couple minor tweaks to it. Renaming the rooms was also very easy and after that, it was was off and running! This Shark also does fairly well on carpet and rugs which the other two I had to mark those areas as off limits. This vacuum does a great job cleaning and navigating. I have seen it get "hung up" on small/tight areas or corners of small legged tables. But, unlike the other two, it did figure out how to get out and continue on with its job. I am really impressed with this machine. My next venture will to run the thermacharged mopping and clean the dog and kitchen areas! It has done a great job on the dining and office areas so I have zero worries that this machine is going to replace my other two. Great job Shark!

Robot Shark! Do Do Dooty doo!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the Shark - PowerDetect ThermaCharged Robot Vacuum & Mop with Heated Mop Cleaning NeverTouch Pro Base - Black hoping it would be better than the other 3 previous robot vacuums that I already have that all let me down. The Shark claims it can go where others can't, but in my case, it couldn't go the same places the others couldn't... I have hard wood floors in the majority of my house, and Tile in the kitchen and bathroom, and just like the others, the Shark couldn't make it over the transition strip/threshold molding board. So now I have a 4th vacuum that doesn't clean my whole house. Maybe I'll just put 1 in each room... The build quality of the Shark is the average plastic round hockey puck, but the mop is just a micro fiber pad that gets drug around, it doesn't even spin. On the plus side, the Shark vac does include a cleaning solution so it isn't just using water to clean, and there is also a deodorizing plug that goes into the top of the base to keep it from stinking of dirty mop water. The physical set up of the vacuum is pretty easy, and the app set up was mostly easy, but it did seem to glitch out several times towards the end of set up. The vacuum simply wouldn't work no mater what I did. I hit the go button in the app, and nothing happened, and the app seemed to reset back to the beginning, so I ran through the steps again several times and still nothing. Finally I was in the middle of crafting an email that my vacuum was defective, when it just started working... After the robot ran it's initial run around my house to create a map, the app displayed the map on my phone, but it didn't look anything like my real floor plan so I had the robot run it again. It seems like there is a really large lag time between instructing the robot and it actually getting the instructions. The app is a bit wonky also. On my Android phone, the app does not resize it's instructions to match the font selected on my phone. In order to be able to see and read all of the instructions correctly I had to go into my settings and reduce the font size to minimum so the app would display the set up instructions where I could read them. If I was using zoom or a larger font the instructions just ran off the end of the page, but would not allow me to scroll down. Over all this is just another robot vacuum. It's pretty close to exactly the same as my other ones. It did promise to be better, but unfortunately it's more of the same. I already have another one that does a better job cleaning and vacuuming. Overall this isn't bad, and would probably be perfect for someone that doesn't have transition strips between rooms. I also had higher expectations based on the advertising.

Not quite there yet...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So with any robotic vacuum and I have tried several, the mapping is never perfect and takes a few "scans" of the room before it gets close. This Shark is no different. I had high hopes but this was another underwhelming experience. This unit is very high on tech. Self emptying, it refills its tank, cleans and dries the mopping pad all of which are nice on paper. It boils down to the suction power isn't anything to get excited about. I ran it twice after set up and it missed things that it should have picked up. Small crumbs and routine things that any vacuum should pick up. The mopping will never be as good as doing it manually and that too left a lot to be desired. I know this is an overall negative review, but it's an honest opinion. Set up was fairly straight forward and only took about 15 minutes or so. While this is no problem on Shark's part, if you have a foldable phone, when your setting it up, I was only able to use the full set up when i used only the front screen and not the interal larger screen. After I figured this out, the rest was easy. It did do a good job navigating between carpet and non-carpeted floors and rises itself to transition itself between the two. I was hoping for more from this unit. I wouldn't recommended this one sorry.
