I’ve seen many 8K TVs but the Sony Z8H stands out and is affordable. Picture quality when it comes to sharpness, color contrasts, etc, is well worth the money. Playing the Nintendo Switch OLED while it was docked and I couldn’t tell the difference in the colors. Deep Blacks look great and brighter colors are vibrant. The only knock is that there is only one 8K HDMI port but i have the Xbox Series X, Playstation 5 right next to each other, so its easy for me just to switch the cord from console to console. Best part is, I happened to find my TV for $2500 as an open box but it was a floor model at Best Buy for its entire life so it looks pretty much brand new. Still would of purchased a brand new one if I didn’t find this deal however.

You want an LED with the inky blacks and contrast of OLED but still maintains the excellent brightness of LED than look no further. Not to mention the 8K capability which only further enhances your viewing experience. HDMI 2.1 that supports 4K/120hz for gaming and 8K external sources. No confirmation on VRR or ALLM though. But the main feature is 4K/120 and it is capable of that so your good to go for gaming. Plus the 8K makes this set future proof. Kinda expensive but the build quality is there and the picture quality is amazing. I exchange my A9G oled for this and I’m not going back.

The Z8H is an excellent TV. The color is spectacular, blacks are very deep, best I have seen on a LCD. This TV gets very bright, which is good for HDR, and if you have a bright room. This TV also has minimal blooming, unlike my 950H. The X-Wide is much better than the 950H, no rainbow effect. The build quality is excellent as well. This TV also does really well with the PS5 too. So lets talk about the 8K. This TV upscales content to near 8K. Except for YouTube, there really is no 8K content, and even that stuff isn't that good. This TV is about having the best picture quality possible, and it delivers. The newer Z9J will probably be a great TV, but at double the cost of the current pricing of the Z8H I can't comment on the sound, because I use a home theater setup, and you really should have one, or a really good sound bar and sub. If you are on the fence and want to save some money, you might want to pick one up soon, Crutchfield is already showing this model as discontinued.

WOW I thought I had good tvs before. I am truly blown away by the quality of this tv. I cannot wait for my PS 5 to arrive next week, I want to see games in 8k. so stoked. Watching snyder cut justice league and Kong V Godzilla with my complete Sonos surround system, which had the whole house rattling was exactly the experience I was hoping for. I may never go to the movies again. I cant wait to hook up my new Sony 65" Bravia XR X90J Series 4K HDR LED Smart TV (2021) XR65X90J in my bedroom and see how good the xr chip is. thanks Best Buy and sony sony 8k is AWESOME, If you say different you are JEALOUS!!!

Best TV I've ever had I would never buy an OLED as almost %40 details are not visible I have an LG OLED and I took a photo both TVs at the same time Full array TV put OLED in to shame I was wondering why movies are too dark!! the answer is OLED is just cannot produce enough light and brightness Regarding if you are in a dark room or not you simply cannot see %40 of what it's on the screen!

Extremely pleased. I upgraded from a gen 1 Sony 4k XBR-65900A which I had loved for 7 years. This certainly blows it away. The brightness, color accuracy, interface speed etc. are all spectacular. Had built the space to accommodate a 75" and this fits perfectly. Excellent audio from the tv but I do prefer my HT system. The great remote is just frosting on the cake. Considered Samsung and LGs 8k options but the Sony won out for color accuracy, brightness, build quality and no dirty-screen effect. Oh and let's not forget about Dolby Vision support!

Best tv for 2020. 4K and Dolby Vision are amazing on this tv. Natural colors smooth even during action scenes. The speakers on this tv which actually has 6 are amazing. Using it as a center speaker to my home theater at first thought it was a gimmick but no it’s actually insanely good! Get this tv if you want all around an amazing tv!

Given the right source material this is the best PQ I have ever seen on any television. Upscaling is excellent, but you can only do so much with a poor source-- Its no worse than on a 4K, although there is more upscaling going on because of the 8K factor and larger screen size (for me anyway, coming from a 65"). Upscaled 4K is impeccable. High quality 1080p is great as well. Most DirecTV content is passable. Game performance is great-- mostly because of the Game PQ-- My son is very impressed-- Contrast and Black levels are amazing-- IMO giving OLED a run for its money. I have noticed some blooming-- not in actual content but around menus and logos (Netflix is a case in point) I can live with this. Its HDR performance is brilliant (in every sense of the word). Depth and character completely unlike my experience on my older Sony 930c. This is one heavy TV (110 pounds)-- Installing the legs and lifting it into place is definitely a two person exercise-- It took us three even for the 75" model. Yes all of this is confirming what others have said-- Best TV I have ever owned—

I decided to go with this Sony Z8H 8K TV because I presumed that it's the best that's out there. In a way, it is, but if you're looking for 8K, this TV and others most likely aren't ready for the shelves yet, let me elaborate. For the price I've paid to get 8K capable TV, it has no capable content yet built into the TV. Youtube does offer 8K playback for a long time already, but NOT on this TV. Vudu won't play anything higher than HDX because the app is out dated and is not aware of the capability of this model. I've been in touch with Sony and Vudu on this matter and, though they offer comfort that it's being looked into, I have no sense that it will get resolved soon. Sony support has been very patient and returned calls which is highly appreciated. The limited HDMI 2.1 and I say limited because it does not meet all of the HDM 2.1 specs, which has no consumer available source to feed it yet. I was able to hook up a PC capable of displaying 8K @30hz on that HDMI 4 input as HDMI 2.0. Yeah, it's crazy at that resolution and I was able to play content from Youtube @8K and some PC games too So, as it is now, you won't enjoy anything 8K on this television and probably the same for other brands like it. Sony "rumors" that a firmware update will come out, but nothing was officially said or announced as to when that may be. It's possible an "update" will give us some 8K content besides the upcoming game consoles later this year, but not today. If you want to see the BEST 4K you've ever seen, then this TV is for you. I spent so much time comparing against LG and Samsung products that it drove me nuts. In the end, this Sony Z8H with the built-in speakers is just AWESOME!! won me over. Having Dolby Vision is a MUST and makes a heck of a difference. Unfortunately for Samsung which doesn't support Dolby Vision, I decided to go with Sony because they did. Good luck finding HDR10+ because that's just like the old Beta cassettes, It's not going to win the market. Dolby Vision movies on this TV is simply amazing to watch. The brightness is superb, but does have issue with reflection if you're not in a darkened room. Netflix (Lots of content), Vudu (using Xbox One and lots of content), Amazon, etc... carry or will carry Dolby Vision. Other issues, yeah, sometimes I lose communication with my Sony AVR STR-DN1080 receiver where I have to fiddle with back and forth to get the TV and receiver talking again properly through eARC port. I got rid of my center channel speaker and use the TV's direct speaker input which works so wonderfully. The sound is focused on the center of the image and you forget about any center channel speaker since it comes right out of the TV's frame. This was a very smart move by Sony. I use OTA antenna for local channels and the tuner is very good and picture quality is top notch right now, but it's not future proof since it uses the ATSC 1.0 tuner and not NextGen ATSC 3.0 for 4K and HDR OTA content. Why??? I still gave an excellent rating because of how much nicer the up-scaling makes the image look like. Everything is smoother and sharper. It allows for advanced adjustments and fine-tuning. I strongly believe that it is better than the OLED TVs because of the brightness levels it can reach. The colors are vibrant and blacks are nearly perfect. I don't think anyone deciding to buy this Z8H will be disappointed and hope that Sony does updates that improve the builtin apps and 8k functionality with content you can actually use and see.

Absolutely the finest 8K on the market. Returned 2 8K Samsungs that proved that they can't run with the big dogs lacking quality control and innovation. This unit is BRIGHT Detailed and Superb! Even upscales commercials to make them interesting with their X1 Ultimate Processor. Picture is clear and precise on everything you throw at it..The HDR is incredible..Colors are True and Vibrant..And not lacking in Brightness..(you may even find that you can turn down the level of brightness and still find it amazing at 2500nits) Can't find anything negative to say on this TV only positives!

I'm quite impressed so far with the picture quality of the Z8H. There are subtle color areas I've never noticed before in movies I've seen several times and there's quite a bit of detail visible in dark areas. The upscaling is also impressive, although it definitely depends on the quality of the source. General TV viewing is somewhat hit or miss (I have FIOS and you can really see how much compression they're using), but in watching 4k movies from a high-end UHD player it's easy to forgot you're not in a movie theater looking at a sharp film projection. It's also capable of extremely bright HDR (one technical review measured it at >2000 nits) and I've had to turn the brightness down for general viewing. The only minor issue I've noticed is the presence of very slight shadows in the extreme corners of the screen, only barely visible when there's a bright uniform image being displayed. It also has the best built-in sound system I've heard from a TV.

For an LED it’s near perfect. Blacks are especially remarkable considering my last 2 units were LG OLEDs. This really is the closest thing I’ve seen to it, and it’s brightness is intense. This is why I made the switch to Sony and LED. I wanted that HDR punch I never got from OLED and yet retained beautiful blacks. Also the colors are breathtaking especially in HDR/Dolby Vision. If I could rate it in another way it really would be a 4.7 out of five. What keeps this TV from being perfect are a few things. One is a shimmer effect when displaying detail like fabric with fine lines. Another is the panel’s reflection causes a rainbow effect to be seen during scenes that are dark during daytime viewing from bright ambient light. Also every now and then the audio through earc hiccups for a split second while watching regular TV but is terrible when when switching to DTS HD or even Atmos by making a loud static sound. I feel like some of this could be resolved with an up date but we’ll see. Also I wish it had a second 2.1 hdmi input but I knew this before I purchased this TV. Aside of my few concerns it’s an amazing TV. I love the ability for it to be a center channel for my Atmos set up. I love the picture quality and the upscaling to 8k especially on 4k HDR movies. I also love the design of this TV with its feet to the sides like it’s sitting on the panel itself. Best TV I’ve ever owned.

The most awesome picture, the upscaling to 8k is just outstanding , making details visible that even an OLED 4K tv can’t produce , the upscaling even makes 720p looks good. Sony makes the most natural colors where other brands lean more to the garish side of the spectrum . One of the great pluses Is the ability to sit as close as one desires to the screen because of the seamless clarity of 8k .The sound quality is also very good since the sound seem to emanate from the entire screen , with movies one would still use a surround system of course but for talk shows the tv speakers are great. It’s obviously a pricier tv but for those seeking the highest quality picture it’s well worth the extra cost . Couldn’t be happier with this tv

I Don’t Miss My Panasonic Plasma!

I didn’t want to give this review immediately after buying the TV because I wanted this to be as objective as possible; also, I needed to spend some time with it in order to give a more thorough evaluation. It’s been two months now and I’ve had more than enough time to compare it to my previous TV: a Panasonic P65VT60 3D 1080P plasma. My Panasonic was still working perfectly when I decided to replace it (and I kept it in storage for later), but I had a sneaking suspicion that the TV had decreased in brightness over the 10 years that we’d been using it. I expected some differences in going from plasmas to LED and I definitely noticed some things right out of the box. I immediately noticed this LED TV was bright....like put on your sunglasses bright. I’m not kidding. I know in one of the many review videos I watched, the brightness level was discussed and I can definitely say this was a major adjustment from the plasma. I can never remember needing to reach for the Penny’s remote to dial down the brightness, but I definitely know where and how to quickly adjust the brightness on this Sony! So, for anyone moving from plasma to this LED - get your shades ready because this TV can light up a room...in the daytime! Setting up the TV was super easy. It will basically walk you through all the steps. Once set up, I found the Sony was able to control virtually all my devices and it worked in a way that I hadn’t expected. The Sony remote has become “The One Ring that controls all” in our living room. I can use the Sony Z8H’s remote to control my DirecTV Genie (this is beyond invaluable), it controls the Apple TV including volume, and it also operates our Sony Blu Ray player. I didn’t expect this! Previously, I had to have an array of remotes in order to operate all of these with our old TV. I really only need the Apple remote now to control the volume of our Homepods which are currently being used as stereo speakers for everything we stream on the Apple TV. Speaking of the remote, this is the best TV remote I’ve ever used. It has a very premium feel with the brushed stainless/metal face. The remote has a good weight and heft and feels good and balanced in the hand when operating it. I love the backlit feature that operates with an accelerometer. It’s very nice to have a remote that lights up when you raise it. It’s especially great when watching movies in a darkened room, but it’s even noticeably helpful in the evening even with lights on. This is a very subtle feature but, once you experience it, you will not want to accept less from any other remote. The microphone on the remote operates the Google Assistant almost flawlessly. It doesn’t require anything but a normal speaking voice and it does a great job of properly interpreting speech. Sony really put a lot of time into the design of this remote and it, in and of itself, is a home run! 10 years ago, when I bought the plasma, smart TVs weren’t a thing. At first, this wasn’t something that I’d considered as part of the buying decision, but I understand that this is actually a pretty important feature now. During the 10 years since our Panasonic purchase, we have come to rely more on streaming content with our Apple TV; we watch more on apps than we do on DirecTV. This Sony Z8H comes with several preloaded apps (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) and access to tons more on Google Play. Logging in to Netflix and other apps like Disney+ was as easy as it is on an iPad or Apple TV. Having access to these apps on the Sony Home Screen is nice, but to be honest, I still pretty much access them primarily from our 4K Apple TV. It is nice, however, to have a dedicated button for Netflix on the Sony’s remote and all of these apps work just as well as they do on our Apple TV. Coming from a solidly anchored Apple ecosystem, this Sony is the first Google/Android product in our home - and I like it! I’m not going to be replacing my Apple Homepods with Alexa, but having a smart TV has been an unexpected thing that I loved and didn’t know I needed in my life! Every morning, I am able to turn on the TV by saying “Ok Google, turn on my TV” and it powers on. I love having the ability to switch between my satellite box, the Apple TV and our Sony 4K Blu Ray player just by asking Google to switch inputs. It will automatically power on the DirecTV Genie and it will also power on the Sony Blu Ray player and just being able to dictate these actions is pretty cool. It almost feels like the future! I use my Homepods to power on the Apple TV and then the Sony will automatically switch to that input. Android’s voice commands on this TV are amazing and the TV’s microphone does a great job of picking up commands. Apparently, previous iterations of Android software on Sony TVs were slower and more sluggish. This version of OS is not. I find that using YouTube from the Sony Home Screen is much easier and faster to launch than having to switch inputs to Apple TV and then scrolling to the YouTube app and launching it. Unless I’m streaming from another device, if I need to watch something on YouTube, I will use the app on the Sony. A couple of features about the Sony Z8H that I think deserve a separate mention are Bluetooth pairing (in particular headphones) and Apple Airplay/Homekit. These 2 features were key selling points for me. Previously, if I wanted to stay up later than my family and watch TV, I would be relegated to watching only content available on Apple TV because then I could use my AirPods and not disturb anybody. However, with the Sony Z8H, I can use my AirPods to watch anything and not disturb anybody with volume coming from the TV! It doesn’t matter if I’m using my DirecTV, Blu Ray player or Apple TV, I can put my AirPods in and use it via the Sony. Connecting my AirPods couldn’t have been easier; it easy to accomplish in the Bluetooth setting of the TV. All I had to do was put my AirPods in pairing mode and TV found them instantly. Also, if I used them with the TV last, the TV will automatically reconnect the AirPods if I put them in at another time. In other words, I don’t have to keep pairing them. I haven’t looked into this, but I think that only one pair of Bluetooth headphones can be used at a time with the TV - but I’m not sure about that. My AirPods and my wife’s AirPods are associated with the TV as devices, but we both haven’t tried to use them at the same time. So if you have Apple’s AirPods or AirPods Pro - these will work fantastically with this TV. Another great feature of this TV is the ease with which you can stream anything to it. It doesn’t matter what input the TV is set on either. Airplay works perfectly on this and Chromecast does as well. While you have to set up Airplay with your various Apple devices, that is easily accomplished; Chromecast is native on the TV. Previously, if any member of my family had something cool to share (usually via YouTube), we would have to turn on the Apple TV, switch the input on the Panasonic to the Apple TV and then launch the video and select Airplay. So there were a lot of steps to share something. That is definitely not the case with Sony’s Z8H. The TV can be on satellite, we can be watching something from the DVR, we could be streaming something from the Apple TV or we could be watching a Blu Ray and by simply selecting Airplay on whatever we want to stream, it plays on the TV. When we are done with whatever we wanted to AirPlay, the TV will resume back to whatever was previously playing. Depending on the app or the media, I may need to press play on the Sony remote to resume playback, but being able to effortlessly stream/AirPlay anything to this TV is phenomenal. This and the ability to use BT headphones on any input were game changers around our household. While features of this TV are well thought out and executed, the picture quality is something to behold. Granted I moved from a 65” screen to a 75”, but this TV really puts out a vivid, colorful and bright picture. I will say this, the picture quality depends on a few things (apart from proper calibration): source material and internet. While my previous TV was a 1080p picture, I found that 4K pictures are best viewed on this TV by using the 4K Sony Blu Ray player. The UHD/4K Blu Rays produce the best picture on this TV for us because our crappy internet is unreliable, spotty and oftentimes slow. We have Frontier crap internet service in NC and the only thing reliable about them is their unreliability. I never considered that when I was considering upgrading into the world of 4K TVs, but it is an important consideration. I never really noticed that much of a problem with streaming on our plasma because we didn’t have a 4K Apple TV (we just had the HD version), but now that we have a 4K Apple TV, I’ve found that we really don’t have a sufficient or reliable enough connection to stream video/audio with no problems. I will sometimes get blocky pixels at times while the internet struggles to buffer. However, this is not a fault of the TV. If you have a reliable ISP and internet faster than 25mbps, you should have no issues with streaming and therefore no issues with picture quality. Given all that, I still didn’t opt to return this Sony Z8H even after I discovered the impact of the Achilles heel of our sucky ISP. When the content streams well, the picture quality is really amazing. Blu Rays look and sound incredible, too. I haven’t had the chance to see this TV put out an 8K picture, but it does a great job of upscaling content regardless, The picture is bright and vibrant. With regards to 8K that will only be available through the dedicated input on the TV. That means that even if you click on a YouTube video that boasts 8K, the TV will still only be showing it in 4K. I’m not sure if that could be fixed with a firmware update, but it’s not a dealbreaker by a long shot. The only weak spot on the TV are the speakers. Get a soundbar at the very least!

Amazing! As i opened the box to slowly start finding the information booklets, the really cool iluminated remote; which I had seen in a review and thought it was so cool. The feet or stands were wrapped well and felt heavy. after getting everything out of the box i started putting it together. Everything went together as it should and i plugged in my SONY 800M2 4K UHD player and power cord. I powerd on the tv and it was beautiful. The set was very easy and the picture was amazing. The sound is fantastic and the auto calibration for the sound took about 5 seconds. I first started streaming 4k and then watched a 4k disc. After watching 4k and checking the settings i went to youtube and searched ik videos. I watched several which were all nature videos put to see the detail in this and try to explain it is hard. I found myslf getting closer to the tv to try to pick out flaws. I stood right in front it looking at the detail in the hair of some animals while looking at the texture of the nose on a lepard. The colr on the skin of frogs and lizards. The space between the scales of a shake. I csnt wait for more 8k content to come out.

Wow Just Wow this TV is amazing the best pic quality i have ever seen. Now i didn't get this TV for the 8k but i got it for everything else the high zone count the high peak brightness witch is over 2,000 nits so HDR and Dolby Vision just look amazing. The blacks are deep and inky so the full array with local dimming is working really good. Sony's processing is next to none now i said i don't care about the 8k but it does look nice and sharp when your watching a 4k blu ray the pixel density is so tight and sharp. The colors just pop off the screen i love it. if your thinking about getting this TV stop thinking and just get it you won't be disappointed.

I would recommend this to a friend
