    DO NOT BUY OVERHEATS

    DO NOT BUY. OVERHEATS CONSTANTLY. I couldn't get the camera with the high temp power off setting to high to record any longer than 15 minutes. It was 77 degrees Fahrenheit outside in direct sunlight. Sony advertises it can do approximately 30 minutes at 35-40 degrees Celsius. Recording in 4k at 60 fps. Very upset with this. Sony will also not refund me for the camera even withing 3 weeks of the original purchase date.

      We apologize for the inconvenience that you were not able to record for more that 15 minutes, even though the Auto Power OFF Temp. setting is already set to High. Although you mentioned that it was only 77 degrees Fahrenheit, shooting under direct sunlight causes residual heat in the camera affecting internal temperature, causing record time to be shortened. Please contact our phone support at 239-245-6360 so that we can provide more suggestions for you to be able to record longer.

    Indoor Yes, Outdoor No

    Indoor Yes, Outdoor NOOO I would love to give this 5 stars and I would have if it weren't for the over heating issue. The AI auto focus is amazing and supper sticky, the video quality and colors are fantastic and it's incredibly easy to use. Just that darn over heating kills it for me. I tested it in 4k60, highest bitrate, highest heat setting, in direct sun and it was only 74 degrees that day here in Los Angeles and it only lasted 9 minutes before it shut off. When I initially opened the box and started adjusting the setting on and off just messing around it showed a heat warning after 2 hours, I didn't even record anything. At that time I had not yet put the heat sensitivity on high but that was definitely a precursor to the outdoor test. I could only really see this as an indoor studio option or for very short outdoors clips if you live in a generally cold city. Otherwise it's a great camera. Some day down the line I can see me getting one used as a b roll camera but not as main shooter option.

      Thank you for your feedback about the ZVE1 camera. We are glad to hear that you found the camera's video quality and colors fantastic. It's also great to hear that you found that AI autofocus amazing and super sticky. For the overheating issue, you mentioned that you already set the Auto Power OFF Temp. setting to High. That should have extended the recording time of the camera before it shuts down to prevent overheating. However, there are other factors contributing to the camera overheating like the type of memory card used and other things. For the memory card, we suggest using SDHC/SDXC card (U3 or higher). If you'll continue experiencing overheating, please contact our phone support at 239-245-6360 so that we can troubleshoot further.
