Q: QuestionWill my tp link router be able to see the devices behind this switch? I want to limit bandwidth to each pc on the router only for internet. Is that doable on this device? 3-5 mpbs internet :/. I do enjoy the product said earlier the TP link router.
Asked by Troy.
- A:Answer Yes that's what I use it for my TP.

Q: QuestionIs this an "Unmanaged" Switch device?
Asked by dcone2.
- A:Answer I'm just using it in default mode but I know it can be configured to do things like add or strip VLAN tags on the ports, etc, because I know someone else who is using one that way.

Q: QuestionDoes it matter what brand you get of port extender
Asked by Geek.
- A:Answer If you are looking for a simple, unmanaged network switch that supports Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, this model will work just fine and is universally compatible with routers that provide Ethernet connections.

Q: QuestionCan I run a line from my modem to this and then run another line out of this to run 2 devices ?
Asked by Benny.
- A:Answer If by modem you mean combo modem/router then yes, that is what this device is for. If you're trying to split the signal before it gets to a router, this device isn't going to work for you.

Q: QuestionI have a modem and router combo from Century Link. Can I plug this in one of the modem router ports and get extra ports out of that setup?
Asked by WFH.
- A:Answer Absolutely! Simply connect the switch to one of the LAN ports on your CenturyLink gateway to provide additional Ethernet connectivity to your home. Regards, TP-Link Support

Q: QuestionI got this because I want to have more speed to my computer, but I also have wifi. Is is router>wifi>switch>PC or router>switch>wifi&PC?
Asked by alohagirl.
- A:Answer Both will work. More speed is possible only if you can get wired connection from the switch and True speed depends on the internet plan.

Q: QuestionCan this switch provide power over ethernet?
Asked by PowerOverEthernet.
- A:Answer Hi! No, the TL-SG105E is not a PoE switch. For a PoE alternative, please consider our TL-SG105PE model instead.

Q: QuestionI want to use my one home internet connection to connect both work and home computers to this switch. And have it create a VLAN so the work computer cannot see the home computer at all and vice-versa. Does this box do that? How to do it?
Asked by B411.
- A:Answer Yes, you can segment the network (set up a VLAN). See the TPLink website for the instructions on how to do it.
