Quality Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid unit, actually has a WD RED drive inside, I did some research and found this to be true. I found this unit at a really low price of $129.99, I purchased it Black Friday, limited options but I got one, my reasons for buy? Xbox ONE X gaming console, you really do need a large drive if you plan on having any kind of a collection of games to play, and with the UHD 4K updates being so huge in size, this was a must have.

Great Black Friday Price, White label requires mod
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Would've given 5 stars but, if shucking, you may need to modify the power supply to the HDD. If you have a White label inside, which it appears most of these are, some power supplies may need to be modded for the drive to power on. The mod isn't too bad, just remove the orange lead from the plug that powers the drive, see pic below. The good is that it isn't too hard to shuck, white label is same specs as red, was a killer price on BF and mod isn't too difficult.

It is a 8Tb external hard drive!!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit has 8Tb of drive space!!!! It is more than all my other hard drivers all together... This one requires external power and is not the small portable version (I wish there is a small portable 8Tb HD!!!) but no problem for my current use: external drive for my Xbox One S. Working perfectly and no worries for keep installing new games (no need to remove old ones....) It seems fast and it is very silent.

Huge storage capacity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I stopped using Seagate external HD’s because they were unreliable and would fail within a couple of years right after the warranty expired. I had a couple of WD external hard drives that I bought at the same time and they are still working. I’m a fan of WD now because I am comfortable with storing my valuable information on it without fear I will have to employ a data recovery service (which is quite expensive). Uploading and down loading is super fast with the 3.0 USB connection. I caught it on sale and the price was unbelievable. The only downside is that I bought it for a Apple device and had to format it before using it. Unfortunately I can’t verify the longevity because I’ve had it less than a month. I believe you will enjoy this device.

Good for storage.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For those wondering, technically it is a re-badged WD red drive inside. Model WD80EMAZ-00WJTA0. I have heard some issues for those wanting to shuck and run as NAS. Crystalmark gives me a 5400 rpm and 256mb cache. Works great as a stand alone back up. If you want to run NAS you may want to look into the model number and see if it works with your system. Otherwise its a great all around back up. I haven't had any issue with heat, vibration or noise.

Holds lots of games
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my Xbox One X because the games are huge in 4k. It works great and very fast at loading. It helped that it was $129 on Black Friday.

It is great overall
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.he good. These hard drives work well when they do. Bang for buck, it's one of the better deals. These fail less than the Seagates. I consider this model at a higher standard than most other brands aside from Hitachi/HGST. Performance is good. Data speeds are fast as long as you're copying large files. The hardware itself rarely fails. I've only had one hard drive fail hardcore out of 10-12 of these backup drives in the last 8 years. So, I'd recommend this drive. Now for a short story: Ok, so I've bought about 6 of these over the last 4 years. Out of the 6, 4 worked and still work. I bought 4 from BB and 2 elsewhere. I was lucky because I had 2 fail rather quickly. The first one had errors in the copied files when I checked them right after the back up completed. The data on the second one, after 3TB of data was copied to it, disappeared and Windows asked to "repair the volume", which it did and recovered the data. Turning it off then on, it happened again and this time with permanent loss of data. Fortunately, it was only a backup and I just returned the drive to BB and they replaced it with a new one. BB was really good at exchanging both devices with no hassle. Great experience. I highly suggest to buy these hard drives from BB and not other online retailers to avoid handling. The new ones worked great.

Great external drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been looking for a larger capacity external drive, and found several options at Best Buy during Black Friday. The 4TB drive was $99, but I found this one for $129 at twice the capacity. Hard to beat that deal! Also, the fact that I could purchase it online without having to deal with the Black Friday crowds was a definite bonus. The drive is doing what we need it to do. I haven't had it that long, but have had no issues with it.

Q: QuestionHas anyone cracked this open yet? What color is the internal. I heard these are red drives. What RPM?
Asked by Open.
- A:Answer To follow up on my previous response; I received the drives I ordered yesterday, (Friday, 11/10/17) and cracked them open to find some similarities and differences in comparing them to the 8TB Easystore drives I bought this spring and summer. Differences: 1. The packaging now has a Holiday offer on it, so presumably this is not excess Inventory from the summer that they are trying to unload. In a bright yellow circle on the front "HOLIDAY OFFER 250GB CLOUD STORAGE ". If your drive has this, I would take an educated guess that it is a similar drive to what is described here and NOT the drives from the summer. 2. The drive ID is WD80EMAZ. 3. This is NOT a Red labeled drive. Specifically the sticker is all white. (google image search the ID to see examples) The models I cracked out of the EZStore in the spring were WD80EFZX and this summer were WD80EFAX. WD = Western Digital 80 = 8TB Capacity EF = Red Series ZX = 128Mb Cache AX = 256Mb Cache Similarities: 1. Like the FAX it has 256Mb Cache 2. Like the FAX it uses firmware 83.HOA83 firmware. I see this through my Synology DSM Storage Manager app. I do not have access to look at the fw of the FZX My best guess is that the WD80EMAZ is a re-labeled Red drive and the EM means Mobile. The most important things for me are the same, and the differences are just in the label. YMMV.

Q: QuestionIs there any reason i this would be difficult to install in a four bay raid 5 enclosure to make 16TB for my companies surveillance? I assume i can be done simply, but don't want to talk my boss into spending the money and have it not work.
Asked by coy.
- A:Answer Internally it is a white labeled re-badged WD red drive 256mb caches and with TLER support. However, I have read some people shucked and had Red drives inside. Also, I have heard there was some issue with certain NAS systems.
