- A: AnswerTwo, 4 TB drives, 8 TB total, second 4 TB backs up auto the first 4 TB drive. Different ways to configure - User manuals available on line at WD and Best Buy. What's nice is that you get free 30 day toll free customer support at WD, that really works, and they really help if you get hung up for some reason. (Not to short change Best Buy Geeks, but the WD 'horse's mouth' has certain advantages, since they are specialists in WD MyCloud).

- A: AnswerRemote backup is more of a cloud solution. I would recommend looking into a cloud backup service such as Carbonite. It can backup both laptop and mobile devices given sufficient internet connectivity. A network attached storage (NAS) is more for providing storage to your local area network (i.e home or office). There are ways to allow secured remote connectivity into your network but that is beyond the scope of this product. For typical home usage, the network share would be visible to all. Providing secure access can happen through password protection or having a domain setup with individual accounts, but this is also beyond the scope of the product.

- A: AnswerYes it works on both Sierra and Monterey….. but if you are upgrading you will have to uninstall WD Discovery after you update and then re-install the WD Discovery app for Mac.

A Great NAS Device for Media Lovers
I bought the NyCloud Expert EX2 Ultra to store and stream my media files across my home network and devices. I am very impressed with the performance, features, and ease of use of this NAS device. It has 8TB of storage capacity, which is plenty for my needs, and it comes with WD Red NAS drives that are reliable and fast. The setup was very simple and the web interface is intuitive and user-friendly. I can access my files from anywhere with an internet connection, and I can also use the Plex Media Server to stream my videos to my smart TV and other devices. The device also supports multiple RAID options, backup software, and encryption for extra security and data protection. The NyCloud Expert EX2 Ultra is a great NAS device for anyone who wants to keep their media safe and accessible. It is well worth the price and I highly recommend it.

Nice system easy to use
This was really easy to use, easy to configure with nice interface with help buttons in some areas make 4tb is all you will need it states 8 but it actually two 4 tb drives configured to raid 1 to upgrade drive capacity is easy but takes a few hours as you have to change out one drive put the new larger drive in allow the system to format and mirror once that had been completed ⁸you change out drive 2 for the same process mine went from 4tb to 12tb with no issues just time

Quick & easy set-up + fast file transfer.
WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra storage is the way to go. This is my second of such WD external devices (an add-on to my home office NAS). The upgrade, beyond additional storage capacity, was a much faster file transfer rate and no delays with set-up. Simply set at RAID 1 (mirroring the two drives) and sleep at night. Great design WD!
