Just what I was looking for!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This modem is doing exactly what I needed. Everything has been running smoothly. I have been on a lot of video calls, and I’ve never had any connection issues. The modem maybe feels/looks a little cheap, but it operates well, which is all that matters. It’s nice and compact too. I recommend this modem to anyone looking for something simple and effective.

Great for Multi-Wireless Device Households
||Posted .So, you're looking for a new modem. Your old one stopped working--started dropping connection randomly--and you just want to buy something that works without spending too much money. I get it. I really do. But, there's a marginal chance you have very little knowledge about networking. Fair. Who has time to learn all that? Here's the bottom line: The Motorola MB7420 is made by a trusted company (you've at least heard of them). But why buy this model and not the slightly cheaper MB7220 you saw on that other website or in your local catch-all retail store? Channels and speed, to put it simply. If you're paying for a mid-level internet plan (because you like streaming videos/playing video games/looking at fourteen separate Firefox tabs of cat photos) and you're not the only person in your house doing this, you need the capabilities provided by this model. See that "16x4" on the box? Equate those numbers to (number of people)x(balls being thrown around)--bear with me here. You're probably thinking, "Four balls isn't that many. Surely eight people could toss and catch balls just as easily as sixteen." Think again. Imagine that each of these people is throwing these balls at near light-speed(they're really good at catching and throwing). Now imagine that sometimes multiple balls are directed at one person. See where I'm going with this? If not, use your rudimentary math skills: sixteen is twice as much as eight. This means a drastically reduced chance of multiple connections causing a drop in speed on your devices. Do you like buffering? Maybe you do. Maybe that spinning circle puts you in a zen state of mind. If not, stop being cheap and buy a decent modem.

Solid cable modem
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This is an excellent modem. It's small, fast, and reliable. I originally purchased it last year, and it has been going strong ever since. Works great with Xfinity (Comcast), and can be activated online. If you're considering buying this, make sure that you have another router. This one only has one Ethernet port, and no WiFi. My only complaint is that there's no easy way to mount it to the wall or a rack, but since it's so small it's not that big of an issue.

Reliable Technology
||Posted .The Motorola cable modem MB7420 replaces a 10+ year old Motorola Surfboard Extreme cable modem SB6121 that never quit working but was simply becoming obsolete. I've had excellent luck with the quality and dependability of Motorola cable modems and highly recommend them. This modem is fast, dependable, and I appreciate the on/off button so that the modem is not on 24/7.

Upgraded my DOCSIS modem
||Posted .My older cable modem was only 8x4 channel bonding capable. If you don't know what that means, it means that on the download frequency that the cable companies use in their cable system for delivering internet data it was only capable of locking on to and combining up to 8 channels. Basically, the more available channels the more reliable and faster (depending on your Internet Service Provider's provisioned speed) internet connection due to wider available bandwidth. For some reason, my old modem was only able to lock on to 4 download frequencies. After I upgraded to this modem, I have 16x4 confirmed channel bonding. Yes, I know this all sounds very geeky but basically think of it this way.... 4 lane highway vs 16 lane highway... when your internet service provider is sending data to you and it has more lanes to pick when traffic gets congested that means less wait time and more reliable data transfer. My ISP is Spectrum and I can confirm that my channel bonding is at 16x4 with this modem. But please note... your connection may vary due to your Internet Service Providers speed and data connection provisioning on your account

Buy dont rent your modem
||Posted .I refuse to pay a leasing fee for a modem when you can buy one of choice and higher quality. I prefer a standalone modem to an all in one modem. Buy your modem then choose your wifi router. That way you can specify if you need a beam forming, multiple mimo or meshing/repeater type router. Dont limit yourself to the cheapest thing the cable companies can find.

Amazing Modem for 500Mbps Connections
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. For the price, I haven't found a modem better for my 500Mbps internet connection. This modem has worked without a single crash or lapse in capability since I purchased it back in April of 2017. If you need a great replacement for that cable company's "rent-a-modem", and you plan to have an internet connection of 300Mbps - 600Mbps, you honestly can't go wrong here. For a brief history, before this modem, I used a Motorola DOCSIS 2.0 for years (before technology advanced to DOCSIS 3.0, and when I had lower ISP bandwidth); I never once had issues with that modem either. The user interface is extremely beginner friendly, and the biggest complaint I could make is having to remember a password years after purchase because I simply haven't needed to jump into the modem's interface for years. I don't say it often, but I've come to trust Motorola as my go to modem company now for years, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Q: QuestionIs this the only thing I need to purchase to use with Xfinity Wi-Fi or do I also need to purchase a router and modem? Thank you in advance! As you can see; I'm not computer savvy.
Asked by Terri.
- A:Answer If you buy this modem, you would also have to purchase a router. If you are paying for a certain speed Mbps for your wi-fi at Xfinity be sure the modem will be able to take that much speed. Otherwise, you are paying for speed that you will never be able to experience (because of the modem) through no fault of Xfinity.

Q: QuestionI do not see a place to plug in the phone. Can this accommodate Time Warner phone?
Asked by Wondering.
- A:Answer Yes! However you would need to purchase a VOIP Adapter - used to adapt your phone to this modem. Your phone would plug into the VOIP Adapter - which would plug into your Motorola Cable modem.
