A:AnswerSparky, You should be buying dimmable LEDs. These will work best and can dim very low. Don't buy CFLs as they do not dim well and will fade over time.
A:AnswerNo....all you need to do is plug it in and then connect via bluetooth to your home internet and connect it to your phone. Works perfectly with my iPhone, and I'm sure with any smart phone.
A:AnswerI don't think so. The nest is hardwired plus battery operated and has it's own Wifi connection so it doesn't require a Wemo switch. The nest app will turn on and off the device.
It does work in conjunction with the Wemo switches if you wanted to create "recipes" through IFTTT (IF This Then That). For example, i used to set the nest to turn on the AC when I would ride my bike and cross a 1 mile radius around my home so that by the time i would get back home, the house would be nice and cool. I also had it turn on the foyer light and the ceiling fan in the bedroom all at the same time it would set the nest. IFTTT powered all of that.
Hope this helps.
A:AnswerI have no problem as long as the device you plug into the second outlet does not have a transformer box like some of these cell phone chargers.
A:AnswerNope! As long as your switches are within range of your home WiFi, they're on the internet. This allows you to change the state of the switch from where ever you have internet access.
A:AnswerThis switch does not. If you want to dim, get the Philips Hue bulbs. They're a much better product IMO. They turn on and off (like Wemo) but they also change brightness and "color".
The Wemo is just a switch. On or Off.
A:AnswerIt cannot be control directly by Windows or Linux. You can get around it by installing an android emulator like Blustacks and installing the Wemo app on it, but it probably best to catch up with the 21st century and get yourself a smartphone.
A:AnswerThere is not any problem with using an extension cord or power strip. It will just control all items at the same time. I have my tv and sound system plugged into a power strip, that is plugged into the Wemo switch. I then can tell the Amazon Echo to turn my tv on/off and it will control both my sound system and TV at the same time.
