Q: QuestionMust you maintain colored ink in order to print black only?

• A:Answer No, you can print black and white with just the black ink available, but the printer will most likely remind you that the other ink wells are dry regardless of if you use them or not. There is probably a way to change the settings on the printer to fix this, but I haven’t discovered how to yet.

• A:Answer The issue means that the capacity of ink isn’t a true result —- ink needs flushed. Try going to the maintenance option on your printer and choose “ink flush (if unsure, see photos). Follow the instructions and it should be resolved.

• A:Answer My guess is you've set either the printer, printer driver, or the app you're using to print on A4 size paper and need to change the (or their) default paper type to 8-1/2 x 11 Letter.

• A:Answer It copies in only a few seconds. I have had the experience that it takes FOREVER to print a page that's tightly packed with copy, such as an instruction page to a tax document for example. One thing that is truly annoying about this printer is that the menu window is not backlit. If you want to change settings, you basically have to have a headlamp on.

• A:Answer Right around .004 cents per page in ink cost, Ink refills for the Cannon Mega PIXMA G7020 are $11.99 x 3 for each color and $17.99 for the black so around $60 with tax for all tanks to be filled at around a 15,000 page print ability. Paper prices will very depending on paper type and the volume purchased and sale prices. I buy our paper by the case with 5000 sheets per case, I can get it on sale for $35 or so per case. My cost to print per page is close to .015 cents average, it also depends on how much printing is done per page so the overall, cost to print can very but only by a small amount hope this helps.

• A:Answer Yield is pretty much what Canon said at least on the G3200 model we had. After 37 months it stopped functioning. But we used 2 extra sets of ink bottles so we got our money's worth IMHO. Now we have the G7020 which we brought 2 weeks ago. So far so good. I did a cost analysis and if you print a fair amount of printing it is worth it. My daughters use for school and my wife prints tons of color pages for crafting. When the G3200 stopped working she still wanted another Canon. Now I don't think looking for generic ink is worth it as the Canon ink is really not that expensive and you know what you're getting.

• A:Answer You do not want to run this printer when it’s out of ink. But the refill bottles and fill when the ink in any tank gets down to the lowest line. Based on my experience with other ink jet printers this is a slow printer for printing color photos or graphics.
