QuestionMy 850VA is now about 5 years old. I noticed in the morning the surge protector is off. It only seems to happen at night. This started about a month ago and occurs about once every two weeks. Is this a battery issue or should I just replace the unit?

QuestionCan this power a lift chair

- Answer I tested it on my power recliner and had no issues and was able to open and close on battery power so I just bought one for my Dad's lift chair. He picked his up yesterday and hasn't tested it yet but I think it will work fine. I'll report back once he tests it. I know my recliner did not draw much power and from what I read on other sites it seemed liked it should work.

- Answer I have 3 laptops, a mini Mac, 32inch monitor, a printer, external speakers, WiFi router, wireless charging pad and uv cleaning thing all plugged in and I have no problems with it. Doesn’t feel like it’s overheating or anything and it’s worked well already even through rolling blackouts in my area

- Answer No, this UPS unit only would have sufficient capability for some electronics. The current draw (amount of amperes) of a sump pump is much too great for any unit like this that is made for electronics. The instructions that come with this unit tell the user not to use this unit for even a printer that would be connected to a personal computer at home.

- Answer Hi JohnW, thanks for your question. An exact 10W runtime is not separately published for the SX950U, but since this model is rated for about 7.5 minutes at 255W and 2 minutes at 510W, a modem averaging 10W would generally be expected to run for several hours.

- Answer Hi JohnW, thanks for the question. The 890-joule rating is for surge protection only, it measures how much spike/surge energy the UPS can absorb, not how long it can run on battery. Battery runtime is a separate spec. For the SX950U, runtime is rated at up to 7.5 minutes at half load and about 2 minutes at full load (510W).
