Q: QuestionDoes the SC5 connect with any other models? Do any other models connect with the First Alert app? I am not interested in getting any device connected to ring and it looks like the only other smart device only operates through ring.

• A:Answer Hi! Compatibility with the SC5 would depend on if you are using the hardwired or battery operated model. If you want all the detectors in your home to sound during both Smoke Alarms and CO Alarms we recommend using First Alert/BRK Smoke and CO alarms with the hardwired "smart interconnect" feature. When the SC5 is triggered by CO interconnected Smoke only alarms with “Smart Interconnect” will also be able to sound the CO horn pattern, Smoke alarms that do not have the “Smart Interconnect” feature will remain silent. When triggered by Smoke interconnected CO only alarms with “Smart Interconnect” will also be able to sound the Smoke horn pattern, CO alarms that do not have the “Smart Interconnect” feature will remain silent . Q: QuestionWhy did First Alert choose to take over a great (amazing) product and then downgrade the features? Not having a motion sensor, Pathway light or “heads up” warning is an enormous downgrade with an expensive price tag. So mad at Google for doing this!

• A:Answer Hello, RJ. The SC5 does not give a "heads up" alarm for minor smoke incidents like the Nest Protect. In case of smoke, the SC5 will go into alarm mode and announce the location of the place of origin as well as send push notifications to your app. - Maria

Q: QuestionI understand this alarm is integrated with Google Nest Protect so that when one alarm goes off all will go off. I am wondering if it will also announce specifically which room/alarm the detected the disturbance? Thank you.

• A:Answer Hi mdisaware, thank you for reaching out! During an alarm, the SC5 can announce the location of the originating alert if a name was setup in the app, but this feature is supported only between SC5 and Nest Protect devices. Other wired interconnected alarms will still respond but will not announce locations. When an alarm is triggered, all interconnected detectors will respond, but you’ll only receive a push notification, banner, and full-screen alert from the device that originally detected the issue. If multiple detectors detect issues, each originator will send its own full alert.— Charlie

• A:Answer Yes, this does integrate the same / nicely with your existing NEST PROTECTS. It is sold as a “drop in replacement”. It also shows up on your Google Home App but NOT on the NEST App. if you are still running it.
