  • QuestionHow do I soak and drain the clothes without going through an entire wash cycle?

    Asked by Suez.

    • Answer Hi Suez- We are happy to provide assistance. To soak a load, press the Start / Pause button to pause the washer then shut the lid. When done soaking the load, push the Start / Pause button again for the washer to resume it’s wash action. If the unit is allowed to fill with the lid open, it will automatically drain out 15 minutes after the fill is complete if the lid is left open. If you desire to soak the load for longer than 15 minutes and to prevent it from going into agitate, do the following: 1) Choose any wash cycle, the desired temperature selection, and the desired fill level (Small - Super). 2) Leaving the lid open, press start. The washer will fill to the selected level at the selected temperature. 3) After the washer finishes filling, press the pause button to pause the cycle. 4) After pausing the washer, close the lid. a. The washer can now be left for up to 24 hours in this state. After 24 hours it will drain automatically. 5) When the user is ready to drain out the water (if not left for 24 hours), turn the cycle knob from whatever cycle they selected to the Drain & Spin cycle. a. Be sure that the 2nd Rinse option or Deep Rinse options (if their model is so equipped) are NOT selected as the unit will go into agitate in the next step if those options are selected. 6) Close the lid (if not closed already) and press Start. ;The washer will drain out. 7) If they do not want the washer to spin, just turn the cycle knob immediately after the pump-out is complete and that will cancel the cycle. Otherwise just allow the unit to proceed through the spin cycle. 8) Repeat steps 1-7 above as many times as needed to rinse the load. If you do not desire to soak the load for more than 15 minutes, skip steps 3 & 4 above. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA

  • QuestionMy spin light now flashes every time it goes into the spin cycle. It did not do this when we first bought the washer.

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer I had the same issue and the culprit was a broken wire on the capacitor, located on the bottom side of the washer unit. There is a red wire and a blue wire, just give one a little tug and see if it is loose or broken. Just be careful with bare hands, always disconnect power and be aware that capacitors retain energy for some time. If you are not familiar with mechanics/electricity, I suggest getting a handyman. If a wire is broken or loose, just re crimp and ops check as normal.

  • QuestionI have heard conflicting comments regarding whether this model is an HE washing machine or not. Please clear this up for me so I know what kind of detergent I need to use.

    Asked by Minnesotagal.

    • Answer Hi Minnesotagal- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for considering our GE Washer! GTW330ASKWW is not an HE washer. While HE detergents are recommended in our washers for optimum wash performance, it is not required. Thanks for checking with us!

  • QuestionSue at GE: I just asked you some follow up questions. I put it in the answers section of the question I asked about the 3.8 cubic washer having sensors or not. Would you look into that thread & get back to me. You were very helpful. See ShouldIBuyIt.

    Asked by ShouldIBuyIt.

    • Answer Hi ShouldIBuyIt- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for getting back to us! GTW460ASJWW has a DUAL-ACTION AGITATOR- Powerful reversing wash action rotates your laundry for a thorough clean every time and provides better circulation and turnover of clothes. The top half operates independent of the bottom half to help drive the clothes down into the water. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/tRtHk5hk8v4?rel=0 - GTW330ASKWW has a HEAVY-DUTY AGITATOR- Powerful wash action rotates your laundry for a thorough clean every time. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/EUye10ayYnU?rel=0 - Also, both models feature 700 RPM Spin Speed. It is important to make sure the washer is placed on a level floor and the leveling legs are properly adjusted. Also, an unbalanced load can cause more vibration. Any size comforter will wash properly in our washers as long as the comforter fits below the balance ring of the washer tub and is not stuffed in the tub tightly. You may want to consider the larger 4.2 capacity since it also features Deep Fill option. You cannot add additional water to the wash cycle on model GTW330ASKWW since it does not have Deep Fill option. Selecting Deep Rinse will fill the basket with water for the rinse cycle only (not the wash cycle) to ensure clothes are rinsed of soap residue and fabric softener. GTW460ASJWW was introduced in September of 2015 and GTW330ASKWW was introduced in April of 2016. Top-loading and front-loading GE Appliance washers with the HE label are defined as washers that use low-water levels in wash and rinse cycles. Note: The HE label does not mean energy efficient. Only washers that have earned the ENERGY STAR rating are independently certified to save energy. Some GE Appliance washer models have the "HE" label on the control panel and other models do not. However, GE Appliances recommends HE (High Efficiency) detergent be used in all of our washers (past and present models) for optimum wash performance. HE detergent works best with the lower water levels used in all modern washing machines and cleans just as well as standard detergents regardless of the machine type or age. We hope this is helpful!

  • QuestionHow long is the spin cycle on the gtw330 and can the machine be stopped before the end of the cycle Did my first wash today the machine skipped over the soak cycle right to wash and the spin cycle seemed never ending Also machine vibrated like crazy

    Asked by Gini25.

    • Answer Hi Gini25- Thanks for your purchase! The Spin cycle is approximately 15 minutes. This helps extract more water from the clothes, which in turns helps the dryer run less (saves dry time/energy use). To stop the wash cycle, press and hold the Start/Pause button for 3 seconds. Or, to pause the wash cycle, press the Start/Pause button. The Soak indicator will light up during the Delicates cycle only. This is because Delicates has periods of soak during the wash cycle so that it is more gentle on clothes. It will agitate, soak, agitate, soak, and so on until the end of the cycle. If the washer is not level and/or the load is unbalanced, the washer may vibrate more than normal. See the following troubleshooting link for more details: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17445 - If an out-of-balance condition is detected by the washer, the Spin light will blink during the remaining portion of the cycle and will stay illuminated for a short time after cycle completion. When this occurs, the washer is taking actions to correct the out-of-balance condition and complete the cycle normally. In some cases, the washer may not be able to balance the load and spin up to full speed. If you notice the load is more wet than normal at the end of the cycle, redistribute the load evenly in the wash basket and run a Drain & Spin cycle. • QuestionI hear water sloshing when I move the basket, I haven't done a load in 24 hours and from the past washes some of the clothes have bleach stains. How do I take the washer apart to make sure it's dry or free from bleach?

    Asked by Denice.

    • Answer Hi Denice- The "sloshing" sounds is normal. The washer is equipped with a balance ring. The balance ring is an enclosed plastic container that is partially filled with a salt water solution. The two halves of the balance ring are welded together to form a permanent seal. It is attached to the inner clothes basket and allows the basket to spin smoothly if an uneven load creates an out-of-balance situation. As part of the normal operation, there may be some water left between the tub and the basket. Liquid chlorine bleach should be added through the bleach dispenser in the front left corner. Follow bleach manufacturer’s recommendations for the correct amount of liquid chlorine bleach based on load size, taking care to not apply or spill it directly on clothing. NOTE: Do not use liquid chlorine bleach and laundry pretreatments such as an Oxi product in the same wash load. • QuestionDoes spin cycle change for delicate & heavy wash. I don't want delicates torn or wrinkled by harsh, long spin. If not please direct me to non-he washer that does this. Thank you. Paula

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hi Paula- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are excited to hear of your interest in our Top Load Washers! The spin cycle does not change between any of the wash cycles. Lower spin speeds are not offered on modern washers due to energy regulations. It has been demonstrated by independent laboratories that the spin cycle does not tear up clothes but rather an inappropriate agitation. This is why we developed the unique “tri-pulse” extra gentle agitate profile to provide special care to delicate fabrics. The Delicates cycle on our GTW330 model is more gentle on clothes than most all agitator washers ever made in the past by any manufacturer. Thanks for reaching out to us!
