QuestionHonestly... DO NOT BUY! Purchased in Jan - and after much time finally got it to work... Just purchased a 2nd device, and (same issues as all the below), it just does NOT set up... In trying different approaches , deleted 1st, and now nothing works :(

- Answer I have the same problem exactly. I bought two Insignia NS-SP1X7 smart plugs about a month ago and a friend bought two. We both had extreme difficulties in getting these things to set up. They finally do set up if you go through the directions 6 or 7 times! What a crock! This week I bought 2 more of them (shame on me) and they do not set up either. I tried emailing the support desk at the url given in the instructions www.insigniaproducts.com and the emails do not go through. They are being delayed or held up for some reason. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT ! ! !

QuestionI just purchased this and got it connected to my WiFi network. Before I connected it to the wifi it was blinking a bright green light. My question is now that it's connected the light flickers and doesn't stay solid green. Is this normal?

- Answer It stays off if it’s not the scheduled time to come on ... when it’s one it’s green... so no it isn’t normal it almost sounds like it’s searching for network connection

QuestionI have downloaded the insignia app on m iPhone but I am having trouble connecting the smart plug to WiFi. I click on add new devices, then go into my WiFi setting and connect to the insignia WiFi but nothing happens from there, it’s not reading the wifi

- Answer Got mine to work just type this without the quotes "http://captive.apple.com/hotspot-detect.html" while connected to your Insignia Smart Plug using Chrome and then it will ask you to open the Insignia app... confirm and then proceed with setup. Was driving me crazy until I figured it out, it seems Safari has issues while trying to set it up.

QuestionI just purchase a amazon Alexa and was able to make calls to alexa using my cell phone but can people calling my cell phone can I use Alexa to answer the call and talk with them using Alexa without a cost or it would it be free. Also is it hard to install

QuestionI have nothing but problems with these devices. I keep getting device off line errors. I have a solid signal and none of my other wireless devices go off line so I know that is not it. The lights sometimes blink sometimes no. not isolated to one unit.

- Answer I have had my unit for 2 months and have not experienced any of the issue you are experiencing. I am Android and Note 8. It works well with my Google Home also.

QuestionDoes this have any surge protection? I want to connect my flat screen T.V. to this smart plug and want to make sure the TV will be protected. So can I plug this directly or do I also need to connect to a surge protector too??

- Answer I've had the same exact problem...tried to set up additional plugs in house after the initial one in my dining room, but the app does not or won't recognize them. Also, this item is quirky...it works for a month or so and then says "it looks like the dining room light isn't available right now" even though my internet and home relay are working with other devices....

QuestionMy phone keeps switching to the "smart plug's" network, then I get message "Unable to reach insignia servers!". Switching back to the WiFi network to connect with Insignia kills the connection to the plug?!?! Been trying for an hour with no luck.

- Answer Had a similar issue. For me what worked was resetting the plug and also making sure the app on the phone was fully exited before attempting again and not running in background.

- Answer For some reason, registering the device is extremely inconsistent. Learn how to factory reset (hold on-off switch down for several seconds), and try registering the device when it fails. It takes 2 to 10 retries and a lot of patience. I was able to register the first plug quickly by moving close to my WiFi modem but the second one took a lot of retries. After an hour, both plugs (light and my iron) were registered and connected with Google Home and really works great! I haven’t been able to combine several commands into one “turn all devices off” command but you can say to Google Home: “ok Google, turn the light on and turn the iron on” I like the feature that you can optionally turn off the LED indicator completely - I don’t need the LED on when the light is on.

- Answer Make sure your schedules are deleted. Try making a schedule in your insignia app to when you would like it on.

- Answer I have found that you will need to show SSID. Once connected you can hide your SSID. However hiding your SSID doesn't help as much as you think. It all comes back to your password as to how well you are protected. Google how to find hidden SSID and you might be surprised.

- Answer Make sure your smart plugs and Alexa are close to the same WiFi hub. The closer the stronger the signal. Sounds like it’s a WiFi connection problem.

QuestionAll of my plugs stopped working with my echo dot. They also stopped responding to the Insignia app. The lights do not stop blinking after performing a factory reset. I have a feeling that an update was realesed by Insignia and screwed everything up.

- Answer I hope you've figured it out by now, but it was caused by maintenance. Your app should have updated by now and they need to be re-added.

QuestionI have been using it flawlessly for about 3 weeks. I had a issue with my internet about two days ago. I lost my connection to both smart plays and now I can't reconnect them. I've tried everything and nothing. Please help me im struggling!!!

QuestionMy insignia smart plug is not connecting to wifi sinse yesterday night. I tried deleting it from the app but it failed to delete. Also I tried to rest the plug and add again.. That also didnt work. Please help.

- Answer Unplug any smart home devices you have like google home or echo. Then unplug your router for about 5 mins. Then plug in the smart plugs and set up one at a time. My guess is the ip address for the unit is locked in the router. Also smart speakers at this time can cause connectivity issues, so plug them in last.

QuestionI have four of these plugs and they worked great on my old linksys dual band router. However I moved homes and upgraded to linksys velop and now I keep getting registration call failed. I have factory reset each plug many times. Any ideas?
