- Answer Hi James, If you are an Xfinity customer, you'll need this Motorola Model MT7711 modem with router and phone jack. It's a wonderful device and it had functions for TV, Internet, and phone. I owned one, and I'm very happy with it. Good luck to you!

Questioncan this modem accommodate up to 1GB? Xfinity told me it will only go up to 600Mbps.

- Answer This Modem/router is a DOCSIS3.0 and will only handle up to about 625 MB. You have to get a modem/router that is DOCSIS3.1 for 1 GIG service.

QuestionI have a phone base and 3 cordless handsets w/chargers. Which phone (base or handset) do I connect to this unit and how do I do it? The telephone wall jack (AT&T) I have in the area where this will be located is not working.

- Answer There is one man unit on your cordless set . That’s the one that probably has an answering device with it. That the one that gets plugged into the modem. And either outlet should work. Phone 1 or 2. The only problem I have is Comcast setting up the phone through the modem. I’ve been trying sine end 12/2. So I hope you don’t have Comcast

QuestionNot that literate with this type of stuff, but want to replace my Xfinity Modem, Router with Voice. Meaning, I need network via hardwire, including wireless network and phone service. Is this MT7711 the right device?

- Answer I replaced my Xfinity modem a month ago with the MT7711 and am so glad I did. It functions like the old one and I get 3 to 4 times faster download speeds. Plus, I don't get billed monthly for rental. After I powered the new one up and connected all the cables, I called Xfinity help and was connected to a technician who talked me through all of the neccesary steps to get it working in my house. The set up took abut 40 minutes. I have same phone service, WiFi, internet connection through the Comcast cable, and my home network. I say go for it.

- Answer The voice portion is connected to your cable box at your TV and does not have anything to do with the modem/router. As long as you have the X1 platform box and a voice remote you can change out the modem/router and save money.

- Answer Based on the number of mac addresses that can be assigned to the router there at least 32 connections you can assign. With that being said, you can probably have a lot more than 32 unassigned connections.

- Answer HI Brian, I don't know the answer to that exactly cause I don't have a security camera. I can tell you I set this up so I used my same network name and password ( directions in the package) I didn't need to reset anything that I already had. The set up was very easy and the unit is really fast. The range is a little better with this than it was with the Comcast unit but still not as far as my really old modem / router went. You know "new and improved" never really is.
