A:AnswerFirstly, contact APPLE. More than likely they will need the account info and password on the original account for the phone. IF you don’t have it, you most likely will be out of luck. They are really strict with use of “hand me down” products.
When my father passed away I was given his iPad. I contacted APPLE. I have my own account because I have a iPhone. I have been with APPLE since the iPhone 3. But because my dad was deceased, and we did not have his password/passcode, THEY WOULD NOT HELP US to change anything with the pad. Which meant we could not get into the pad to change anything, add anything, NOTHING.
They say it’s because IF the individual wanted a family member or friend to have the item ( iphone or iPad), they would have given, or left the password and correct email for the account connected to it, for another person n to use it! And if you don’t have that, they have no way of knowing whether you are telling the truth as to who you are and how you got the item. And therefore that means that by allowing you to access the account connected to it, is against policy because of credit card and other info connected to the account.
While I’m sure that’s part of it, I believe it’s possible for them ( if you can prove how you got the item) to reset and clear the item in order for it to be reused by another person. HOWEVER they won’t…., because they want people to buy new products and also keep down second hand sales and hand me downs. More $$$ for them.
So YOU WILL HAVE TO CONTACT APPLE. Have the original email address, and password for the APPLE account connected to that item. But their thinking is if you already have that…., you wouldn’t have to contact them. See the issue? They take you in a circle…., UNLESS you have that info, but need to CHANGE the account into your name. But even that can be challenging.
Good luck. Most people never have any luck with getting into them without the original info. Which makes them unusable.
Personally, while I do still have a APPLE iPhone., I am sick of them, and find they are nothing but money hungry and have no care about their customers. Unless you are putting money in their pockets… they could care less. “BUY BUY BUY our products… and we will help you!” But if you are trying to use a hand me down…., help will be frustrating, limited, and practically non-existent.
