I recently had Mediacom install Internet in our home. It is in a large well ventilated closet. I called the Arris 1-800- number and the Tech told me that it should work fine. They send the signal through cinder block so dry wall would not be a problem. We live in a small home and the closet is located in the center of our home. We are having trouble getting a signal that is 200 ft. away our garage. I bought a Nighhawk signal extender to see it that will help. So far we are not real pleased with the the results of this product. I returned to Best Buy and the gentleman that waited on me really didn't know much and the other guy in that department was waiting on someone else. We waited while he assisted another customer, sold them something, and completed the paperwork and made the sale. After a while we decided to go it on our own knowledge and went home.

I called Comcast to double-check this modem and model will work with Comcast. "Yes". Only concern is it new? They can't take a previous customer off that internet acct to activate modem without that user calling in and going through closing process. Buy New Only! Within 10 minutes it was going. Took rented modem into Comcast the next morning. They said call in (or Chat) to have the modem activated with specifics on the account. Did that through chat. It took 5 minutes and now on Xfinity acct can see the exact modem and you can do things with it through Xfinity.com. IT'S FASTER THAN THE RENTED MODEM I had from Xfinity! Update: It uses less 'data usage'!!!!!

It has dual, separate bands, one 2.4 gigahertz & one 5 gigahertz. If your device is able to use the faster speed, it will recognize it & it will show up as an option to connect to. If your device is only able to use the slower speed, that's the only one that will be an option. You can choose which one you want to connect to if both are available. That's nice because the 2.4 gig works better over distances & through walls, although it's slower. It wasn't as easy to set up as some, but it wasn't difficult. It's also nice to just have one device to worry about instead of separate modem & router. It has a guest password that allows guests to use the wifi without them having the power to change any settings.

This is the second Surfboard I have had. The first one was plug and play. This one very much was not. Confusing. I had to replace the first one because it died, and I did not have internet access. Without internet access, it was virtually impossible to set up. Adding to the confusion was in the instructions it said that you had to download a phone app to install. When I called for tech help, I was informed that THIS version of the surfboard did NOT require that app. So after two phone calls, and a lot of frustration in set up, it is working well.

After years of paying extra each month to my internet provider to use their modem, I decided it was time to buy my own and cut out the extra cost. I found this one, which was smilier to the one I had been using, but was a little faster. Also, it happened to be on sale that week. I want to let others know that you have to contact your internet provider and give them some information found on the modem (and on the instructions as well) before this modem will allow you on the internet. Once I got that taken care of, the rest was easy to set up and my system works as well as before.

This is in the lower end in price of cable modem/wireless router options you'll find on the shelf, but it has worked just fine for me. My usage is limited mostly to streaming apps/video and basic internet, and I have noticed no quality issues. Setup took a little longer than expected because I initially connected it to a port that was not connected to cable (how would I know?), but once I found a working port, everything went quickly, and the app is very convenient and easy when it comes to changing wifi name and passwords.

So it is very easy to set up and is very consistent. I like the automatic channels setting and the range is great for my three bedroom home . I am able to get 400 mbps WiFi 5Ghz with this on a regular basis with spectrum . I rarely have to Reset it . This does have a limited amount of Ethernet ports but it is fine for my needs . Price is right and does everything you need . Video streaming and online gaming works fine and smooth . This is a great buy

Bought this to save $14 on my monthly rental of a modem/router. Was easy to hook up (but read the instructions...we didn’t and would have saved time calling Comcast). Noticed no change in upload or download speeds from the Comcast box. Will pay for itself in rental speeds in no time. Almost bought a Motorola one that was a bit cheaper. It would’ve worked now but technology was so old would have likely become obselete in a few years so I am glad I double checked with the sales person.

We needed an additional WiFi spot for one of our departments and this device was recommended at BestBuy by one of the friendly and very knowledgeable sales associates and it worked perfectly and as easily as he described, from the moment we plugged it in. It was easy to configure and does the job perfectly. The primary function is to allow for dual factor authentication in a specific office department and it does the job very well.

Working as well as router from ISP

Had to call ISP to turn on new router which took several minutes and more complicated than necessary. They asked for "Password" on new router. There is none. It is the "Security Key" which I could not see because it was already hooked up, hard to get to but I found a copy of the label in info that came with the router. Hoping router will last a long time. That is a chance I took to stop paying monthly rental to ISP. It will take about a year to pay for itself.

My computer was showing slow internet speed and my old modem died while in the process of trying to fix the problem. I bought this one and like having the router combined with the modem. It wasn't the solution to my slow speeds, but with some other "fixes" I'm back to high speed now. My internet provider wants about $10 per month to rent me a modem, so it will take only about a year for this to pay for itself.

Ok, when I went to Best Buy that day I sure wasn't looking to spend over $100 on a @#$#@ router thank you Comcast, but I'm sure glad I did because this thing has been a miracle. No more laggy connections or buffering seeing as we have about ohhhh,...100 devices connected at once. Nope. Buffering is now a thing of the past thanks to this baby. Highly recommend!

I was iffy with my purchase at the moment of buying it because I had gone into the store looking for a particular brand that wasnt in stock. I needed a modem router that same day so I bought this one. I am very pleased with the service its provided and have had no complaints at all. Will not hesitate to buy again, overall good purchase.

Bought this to replace an older Netgear. Signal from the previous router dropped off at the back of the house. With this, the signal is clear and strong throughout the house. Set up was easy. Be sure to call your cable support line so they can add the router to your account.

Compatible with comcast. Works well. Didn't take long to locate in store. store employee was very helpful. This fits the bill . Its a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem/ wi-fi router. It has two 1-Gigabit Ethernet Ports. Has a two year limited warranty. Saving money by not renting a modem router from Comcast.

I bought this to replace my current cable company equipment that was constantly going offline and I barely had any connect in my house at all. Once I installed this one I have not had one issue period. I can be outside or even not in my yard and I can pick up the wifi connect with no issues at all.

So far so good, it was relatively easy to install. Called xfinity to activate and was good to go. The only thing that was kind of annoying was using the app to activate, only because I had to re-sign in every time it refreshed till I was fully connected. But that was just tedious not a big deal.

I got the wifi working perfectly, and I got my ISP to activate my modem without any hassles. The problem occurred when the Ethernet ports failed to work out of the box. A quick call with the support hotline instructed me to reset my modem. After that, it was smooth sailing from there.

I have always used net gear products in the past but this one caught my eye at the sale price. It was difficult to set up compared to my net gear and did not make my network any faster than my net gear N. I returned it with no problem and will stick with a net gear AC when they go on sale.

I got this to replace an older modem/router that needed to be reset constantly. This thing does the job splendidly. Easy to set up, and my connection is more stable than it’s been in a long time. I can’t really comment on the range as I have a fairly small apartment.
